    I had gotten a few samples and had used up 4 from each sample. I was in physical therapy at the time. I had been pretty bad shape when I started the PT. After about a week of using this product, my performance was suddenly really good. I didn’t credit it to the product though...I just thought that PT was working. But after a week, I ran out of the product and went to purchase more. While at the health food store, I was talked into trying another supposedly “better” brand, and did for one week. After about a week in, I noticed that my joints were regressing back to where they had been initially....not all of the way back...but there was a significant loss. Both the PT and l had a discussion about my home exercises that he had assigned..he thinking that I had stopped doing them...but I was doing them even through the pain. That night, I was thinking about the need to go back to the health food store to get more collagen...and that was my 💡 moment. I switched back to the aforementioned brand, and within a week, I was improving again. Several of my friends have had the same results. We don’t use the entire suggested amount...I use less than a half scoop in my coffee and my mobility has increased a lot.

    TheBestLife I hope that it works as well for you as it has for me. See if they have the sample packs and get two....I got 4 servings from one pack...almost a week’s worth of product....at least that is how I use it. That way you won’t be invested in case it doesn’t work for you. There are two different products put out by this company that I was unaware of though and am now thinking of trying the other one as well. Check out their KZread video.

  • @ConsumerlabPlus

    Plants do not naturally produce collagen, so there is no natural plant-based collagen. If you are vegan, just be sure you are getting all the nutrients that your body needs to make collagen -- protein (which provides the necessary amino acids) and vitamin C (which helps form collagen from the amino acids).

    Hiya I wanted to mention that numerous collagen products have vitamin b in them which can trigger cystic acne in high doses. I have this difficulty with vitamin b, that as a vegetarian is a pain cause it’s one of the few supplements I should be taking. Which brings me to a story I have, of one of the most common powder collagen supplements I had switched too severely broke me out in cystic acne. I looked on the label and there was no mention of other ingredients. I looked on amazon reviews and 1 other person has mentioned this issue. Someone had commented that one of the sizes of the powder had vitamin b but the others did not. interestingly I had the size that should not have vitamin b or other supplements. However after another bad week of cystic acne with scarring I decided to stop the supplement all together and my skin was back to normal in a couple of weeks. I switched back to a cheaper bovine collagen supplement from rite aid that I used to take and have had no issues. it makes me wonder if the powders could be contaminated with other supplements... I also want to mention that verisol collagen has become much harder to find, even though it’s clinically evidenced, the main brand I used to find everywhere is gone. I purchased a physicians choice brand on a Amazon and I was concerned about their sticker that mentioned you can get a free bottle. When I looked up there credibility it looked like they had people signing up to charge their credit cards for products they didn’t purchase. I’m now on a hunt to find a credible reliable form of verisol in pill form.

    As long as you are getting enough protein from your diet, little would happen if you stop supplementing with collagen. Whatever modest benefit you get from collagen would like end within the same period of time it took to see a benefit -- typically a couple of months.

    www.healthline.com/health/food-nutrition/vegan-collagen There’s honestly not enough science for vegan collagen boosters or traditional collagen to be certain of much. There does seem to be much more actual science for traditional collagen because it’s more common. Im sure both methods can be useful. They can also both work together if you really wanted the most possible benefits.

    They both breakdown to amino acids, it's just that the process is already more advanced in the hydrolyzed collagen, i.e., peptides, but it's not really clear if that matters. They gelatin is partially-hydrolyzed collagen.

  • @GoddoDoggo

    @GoddoDoggo

    4 жыл бұрын

    There are virtually no vegetable-based collagen sources. The only ones you will find are very expensive and heavily genetically modified, because those amino acids do not naturally occur in large quantities in plants. The best you can get is marine collagen (i.e. collagen derived from fish, so you'd have to swing pescetarian), or just upping your intake of soy and lentils a lot so your body can produce more collagen itself.

    In healthy individuals, with no intestinal permeability, peptides are not allowed to enter the body, but only in a form of amino acids. Based on the amino acid profiles of collagen, a 250gr steaks would have a very similar amino acid profile as 9gr Collagen. Why do you and the studies think that it will have more benefit then eating a 250gr steak instead of having 9gr Collagen daily?

  • @ConsumerlabPlus

    @ConsumerlabPlus

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi Pál - The big difference between collagen and the meet beef is that collagen has a higher concentration of hydroxyproline and proline than meat. Both will collagen and meat will be normally digested into amino acids and (certain small peptides) that can be absorbed in the gut. The evidence behind collagen's benefit remains prelminary, as we explain in detail in our Review.

  • @PalDorogi

    @PalDorogi

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@ConsumerlabPlus Thanks for the reply, but that's why I compared the 250gr steak to the collagen. As, there are 912mg proline in 250gr steak while only 126mg in 1gr collagen. However, 112mg Hydroxyproline in 250gr steak and 95mg in 1gr collagen (So, 250gr steak has similar amino acid profile as 9gr collagen, except the Hydroxyproline e.g. 140mg versus 855mg in 9gr collagen). So, no significant differences and I did not mention other protein sources of a daily food intake. Also, afaik, very small peptides (such as di- and tripeptides) can only be transported (by PePT1 i.e. peptide transporter 1) from the lumen into the enterocytes, and in the enterocytes they're are further digested into amino acids by peptidases (in the enterocyte's cytoplasm) and then only the amino acids are exported into the blood stream. So, no peptides should enter blood stream, assuming healthy gut (of course statistically they can but their presence is irrelevantly small number). This is why I am a bit skeptic about this exo-collagen ingestion.

    Pál Dorogi you are comparing the steak to 1g of collagen but the serving on vital proteins for instance is 20 grams. So you would want to 20X your numbers it seems if you are really comparing a serving of steak to a serving of collagen peptides. Cheers. I appreciate your assessment. I’d like to hear what you think of that.
