It finally came in the mail! After a long journey up the continent, it's my turn to "Paste It Forward". This book was started by a handmade collage artist in Singapore with the intent that each artist will make a collage artwork on a page of the book, and then pass it on to another collage artist from another country. Now that my work is done, I have sent it off to Brazil!
In this video I talk through an internal narrative about perfectionism and it's connection to artists. This video is dedicated to artists struggling with perfectionism. I didn't even know it was something I struggled with until I realized how freeing it was to create without a purpose. As my career has progressed, it seems I forgot all about the fun of making mistakes and trying something new.
My solution to this is trying a junk journal. Use this as a junk journal tutorial to collect ideas on how you can do your own. Subscribe to see future videos going more in depth on this.
In this video you'll be able to see my process in real time. This is the first time I've published a video showcasing my collage art process at this length (slow art making). Set your eyes on some of my beautiful cut outs from vintage magazines, some dating from the 1920's!

I'm so glad the discussion resonated with you. It's definitely a battle trying to balance fun and staying true to my style / making work I am proud of! I find the junk journal to be a valuable exercise for this.
Collages is so much fun because the unexpected results that seems to pop up and it is always unique , it’s something I enjoy due to the spontaneous vibes , thanks for sharing these amazing collages 👌

I struggle with perfectionism too. My pieces are very studied, thought out, and precise. I like my end products, but I also yearn to break free and just play. I don’t seem to know how to do that.

The rule is to make a collage on any page and then send it to a collage artist from another country. Everything else is quite flexible! It doesn't matter which page you do it on. Glad you enjoyed the video 😇
I think perfectionism is the death of creation. I wish i realized this sooner.

I find junk journaling helps with that, it pushes you to glue it down. Or if I am unsure of a piece, I scan it into my computer so I know I can make changes digitally if I need to 😇 Hope that helps!

Nothing spectacular perfect how?
Downvoted because of the music. Tutorials are enough on their own with the voiceover. The music alienates a lot of people. There are many who will be triggered by sensory overload from the visual, voice and music. It's such a shame because it's an interesting video.
