    Got a BT200X on closeout (looks like they replaced them with the new B200R which is a neat looking bike with factory disc brakes) I plan to do this mod tomorrow and drill a big hole in the front of my air box (not sure if it will help but another youtuber said it did some for him) Saving up for a torque converter, exhaust,and better air filter!

    An air filter with straight pipe and correr jet will give you good take off power and higher speed. I have 2 Baja mini bikes on was stock and I got bigger tires and did throttle stop and governor delete. It would hit about 33-35mph I put a torque converter it would go 52mph on the road.

    Good simple instruction video. 👍. Suggest getting other things in place before zip tie or removing the mechanical governor. It cost me one of 3 motors. In my experience it needs some combo of break in time, more fuel, valve springs, clutch mods or CVT to protect from the risk of failure. But perhaps it was a factory flaw. Consider next free & simple mod removing gas tank and drilling small hole on outer edge of metal throttle arm on same plane as existing holes to relocate spring mounting point. This allows it to fully open the throttle. After the screw & throttle arm mods mine went to 31-33 gps mph. Flat road 220 pound rider. Better acceleration to. Maybe these videos if you keep going can be linked for step by step progressive mods. Keep it up.

    That's kinda what I'm doing, step by step, and I plan to keep posting videos for a while on the bikes. I was going to cover the valve thing in the governor removal video, and will definately be upgrading the valves. As far as break in, you are right, and many people overlook or are ignorant to this. I drove around easy for the first 20 minutes when I first rode it, and only went "full throttle" after that because I knew it wasn't actually full throttle due to the throttle stop screw. And I have intentionally waited until just now to do the throttle stop delete, sitting at about 9hrs ride time, to give the engine time to break in first. Next is first service which is first oil change and valve check, which I will of course post a video of. Yesterday I went down the road and held the governor back and got it up to 33mph, just started to feel the valves float. And I am aware of the flywheel and rod issues at high rpm, will be adressing that. One step at a time...

    @@BuckeyeBallistics Get a cheap digital tach like $15. Yeah I think 33 mph is on the edge of out of fuel from the stock carb tiny epa jet. Also with stock clutch & spring clutch slip it sounded like it was nearing the edge of the weak stock valve springs. Then With stock clutch & zip tie governor I went 38 mph winging. One bike with more hours & 15 pound springs survived unharmed. The other with lesser hours & still having the stock 10lb valve springs winged & stumbled. Who knows 5,500 rpms? Tear down inspection showed rod bolt / rod was letting go. Lesson learned. Then Added the CVT and digi tach. Acceleration improved top speed jumped and rpms dropped all noticeably. With the 15 lb springs it’s done fine to 4800 44 mph on a flat 5200 rpm 48 down a hill. I think the stock cam is not only way past peak but completely out of push by 5k. I also think 5k is the safe rod limit on a flat. Stock sprockets 10 tooth front 50 tooth rear or 5.00 final drive ratio. That speed was on on 9/50 for a 5.55 ratio. Even though it’s past power range I think a little lower gear would still allow it to get both a little more acceleration & top speed out. Because gearing feels tall & it takes road to get to the top speed. I think the 10/60 will show ideal at a 6.00 drive ratio. Got the 60 tooth & chain but haven’t swapped it on yet. Still Shouldn’t be past 5k on a flat. Hoping for 45-46 on a flat 49-50 down a lil grade. Then it should be optimized for the stock motor and I’ll leave it alone.

    Another bike channel I watch suggested using 22lb springs instead of the 18lb upgrade that everyone swaps to, stating that the 18's are longer and harder to get in, whereas the 22's are the same length of the stockers; plus the 22's could handle even more rpm with a full stage 4 build. I'm going to put a cvt on at least one of them. I know they take off faster and optimize this and that, but I just hate the constant rpm, as opposed to hearing it rev higher the faster I go. I'm going to compare the cvt take off to centrifugal clutch, and compare to centrifugal clutch with stiffer springs for a higher engaugement speed to the cvt.

    @@BuckeyeBallistics No pro engine builder here. But what springs depends on where you are going with the motor. What I put in is plenty for the stock cam / limited rpm. On my stage 2 cam billet rod & flywheel Tilly motor I put in 26s to go with the cam lift & rpm. Stock Hemi head. I’ve run it at just under 7k. That cam is only 265/265 lift 236/236 duration. If you’re actually going stage 4 with ported heads. you would have a cam & rpm that would require more more than 22 lb springs. Your also not likely keeping the factory Hino motor.

    I've seen some of the 212's turn 9000rpm; wonder what springs you would need for that lol. I plan to swap one of the Hisun 196 engines out of one of the big bikes into the ct100u, then put a Predator 212 in the bike it came out of so I can do comparison videos. I'll compare them mod for mod, build them both at the same time, side by side. After I'm done with that, I was going to compare those fully built engines to the Tillitson 225 race engine that I'll swap into one, and then I also want to do a 420 swap and build.

    Right now I'm working on some custom exhaust systems for the bikes unlike anything I've seen anyone else do, utilizing actual performance mufflers instead of the little pop can mufflers the mini bike shops provide. I'm trying to figure out a way to mount them which will likely require welding a braket to the frame. I have a welder but I'm not sure if I'm tackling the welds myself because I just have a little cheap $90 Harbor Freight welder and it leaves real sloppy welds compared to the Lincolns I was used to using at my last job. I want it to look nice, so I may hire some help. Then my biggest concern is getting paint to match the frame to re-paint it once it is welded in place. I may be making a bracket instead that bolts up under the seat and sticks out the side.

    @@BuckeyeBallistics Are you going to do videos on the exhaust work? That would be interesting. Don't worry about the cheap welder. I have a cheapy myself and made a pipe last year. Turned out ok even with my zero experience welding. I didn't want to bracket to the frame because of the engine flexing on the mount. If I mounted to the frame my weld at the flange would break. I added a bracket from silencer to the head. Doesn't look that great but it supports the silencer and pipe.

But you're the 2nd person in only a few days who has seemingly floated their valves from only bypassing the throttle stop and not the governor, so I'm not sure what's going on with your guy's bikes. That is the whole point of the governor, is to prevent the engine from revving too high. So if you guys haven't messed with the governor at all, it shouldn't be over revving like that. Only deleting or bypassing the governor like I did in this video should allow that to happen...

    I have had people do what I did in this video and have the same issue, always tell them to check the linkage. I'm eventually doing a video on what you did as well. It's easy to get the linkage stuck or bent. You can easily grab the throttle arm on the carb and manipulate it closed to open. It wouldn't rev to the moon if it wasn't open some... I wish you luck and please let me know what you find.

    I drilled the screw out with a standard bit that was about the same diameter as the screw shaft. I drilled it out from the side you would put a screw driver in. My max speed was 20mph and now it's 24 🤣🤘🏼

    I'm wondering how some think that doing this will make acceleration better. You get full throttle (on the carb) before cutting the screw. 0-20 mph full throttle is the same under both stock and throttle screw removed. A couple guys did a video on this and acceleration was the same.

  • @BuckeyeBallistics

    If you were getting full throttle, then it wouldn't go faster by doing this, as this is not the engine governor. Explain the extra speed if it doesn't allow the carb to open more...

  • @Deucealive75

    @Deucealive75

    @@BuckeyeBallistics Easy. The extra manual throttle travel increases the spring tension the governor has to overcome. It takes more RPM to overcome the extra spring tension. The extra speed comes from the extra RPM.

    Makes sense. I did notice something of that sort when I did the throttle stop delete on the ct100u. I noticed and detailed in the video that you didn't have to cut it back all the way because it was just over travel and the carb was already completely open. However, I had already bent the screw all the way back, so I was able to twist it way past full throttle. When I went on the road, on one occasion I was full throttle, but it didn't go quite as fast. So I twisted it further and it went a little faster/revved higher. So your explanation explains that then, thank you. How does the internal part of the gov work exactly? I saw it looks like a little gear but I'm unclear how it engauges; centrifugal throwout engaugement?

  • @Deucealive75

    @Deucealive75

    @@BuckeyeBallistics Yes centrifugal throwout is a good way to describe it. The thing about these governors is that they work great on lawn mowers and other equipment where you are typically at a fixed throttle position to do the work. They sense changes in the load and respond quickly by opening the throttle then backing off once the load is satisfied. They are there to maintain a certain RPM at a fixed throttle position. But they can be annoying in the mini bike and go kart application because the rider wants full control over the throttle. And of course they can be set to a max governed RPM. The norm is 3600 RPM. I don't mind the governor and have kept both of my Coleman 200's governed. Last year I set one to govern to 5,000 RPM. Just tinkering.

  • @BuckeyeBallistics

    @BuckeyeBallistics

    Yeah but with a stage 1 kit the engine makes much more top end power, well beyond 3600rpm. So at that point it makes more sense to remove it, and of course also at that point one has to consider valve springs, rod, and flywheel. I like the idea of keeping the same sprocket size for decent take off acceleration, but gaining more speed by modifying the engine to run higher rpm with more power, safely. Of course there is the cvt torque converters, but I hate the constant rpm sound while driving around.

    Why not just take the screw out. Save yourself some time take the 2 10mm nuts off and take the whole air filter housing off in one piece.

    Are you asking me how to start the minibike? Turn the fuel on, choke on, and make sure the killswitch is off. Then give it a few tugs and it will start. Once it starts, turn the choke off. I showed this process in the review video of the ct100u and ct200u-ex. If that's not what you're asking, then you'll have to be more specific.

    I showed the stock speed in this video... 19mph. It depends on what year your bike is. The newer ones are held back more than the older ones- also the gearing is different (sprocket sizes) for different years. You assume they are all the same and they are not. So unless you have a 2020 model like mine, then these reasons mentioned are probably why. That or your method of measuring the speed was inaccurate.

  • @trippdawg3337
    @trippdawg33378 ай бұрын

    There is a little gear in the back of the crank case that has a centrifugal switch attached to that's connected to the drive shaft that's the real governor not the throttle stop you can take that out and probably get it up to 40 mph
