Appreciate the info bro I've been trying to fix a friends coleman I replaced carb throttle cable governor springs basically everything lol and still couldn't get it to run I watched a ton of videos and tried alot of things still wouldn't run unless on choke but did what you did but a little different got it to fire right up thanks alot

This has to push way to much RPM though. Those stock engines can only handle 5000. Just do the zip tie method and buy a predator. Beat the crap out of the 196 because doing this you even have a chance of your engine not even starting.

They can handle more than 5K RPM. This isn't something new. Guys have been doing this for many years running close to 6K RPM.

Pro tip. If you are unsure about all this, install a torque converter for more speed. Leave the stock linkage and governor as is.

Mine does 77 with a .265 cam, billet rod, arc flywheel, and 22lbs valve springs
