Colecovision was the first game console we ever owned that my brother got for, I think, his birthday in 1982. I remember only having Donkey Kong for the first couple of months before Christmas (his birthday is in October). Then I remember having Venture, Zaxxon and even Mousetrap. Eventually our library grew to include games such as Smurf, Carnival (the song they play in that game, I can't remember the name, but that's where I first heard it), Popeye, Q-Bert, Gorf, Decathlon, and many more. I just love the Pitfall II theme that plays throughout the game. I can literally just start the game, go to sleep with that theme playing in the background and wake up to hearing it play and not get sick of it. We did not have an Atari console, but we did have the expansion module for the Colecovision that lets you play Atari games. The biggest problem was how easily the pins that held the joystick in place got bent. It was such a pain in the ass to try to straighten those pins! Some of these games I didn't play on Colecovision until much later. Games such as Burgertime, Pitfall, and Keystone Capers I first played on Atari. Man I can't tell you what a difference it was playing the game with Colecovision graphics as opposed to Atari graphics. By far they are better on Colecovision, but I must admit, I do have a soft spot for the Atari version of Burgertime. Might be because it was one of the first games I ever owned. Then there were other games that I first played on Colecovision. Playing them on Atari felt like a letdown, like the game designers got lazy when they were designing the games. I heard that many of the games that were licensed to Colecovision also did the same for Atari. I think Colecovision had a deal where their version of the game was superior in graphics, sound and gameplay. Atari's version would be crap in comparison. I remember specifically that being the case for Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr, and Venture. The Colecovision version looked amazing! The Atari version? Picturing Mario jumping over what looks like Chocolate Chip Cookies on Donkey Kong makes me cringe. Oh, and I got to mention the awesome music to the intro of Cosmic Avenger. Wish you would have included that in the game preview because it was that awesome!
@MrVenom197412 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. Yes, the Colecovision is/was a nice console and had some decent games. Some games were nearly identical to MSX counterparts. And the greatest thing of all was the expansion for the Atari 2600 games.

Thanks for the video. Yes, the Colecovision is/was a nice console and had some decent games. Some games were nearly identical to MSX counterparts. And the greatest thing of all was the expansion for the Atari 2600 games.
hello my childhood. what great memories playing this system as a child back in the 80's. wish i could get my hands on another one of these systems and games.

Kevin Palmer yeah, but not cheap, and I'd be careful. Mine tended to get overly hot, to where the graphics were kind of funky bad...nothing an electronics engineer guy can't fix, I'd imagine...very simple device. Either works or it don't work.
Omg the nostalgia! So glad I found this :)
I lived through this era, so some of the sounds are nostalgic ... but several are just painful!
Man did this unlock some old memories of sleeping over at my Grandmas and playing my uncles coleco! Zaxxon,Qbert,Donkey Kong,Defender, time pilot, cosmic avenger, he had em all!
THANK YOU!!!! Smurfs is the original Dark Souls. Man that was brutal. SPace Panic, Space Fury, Gorf, Zaxxon, VENTURE!!! Colecovision is the most important console ever made. No Colecovision = No Nintendo and No Sega which might have meant no PSX or Xbox and everything we have today. BEST SYSTEM EVER
7:14 Looping. I remember that game!...Damn the pipe room was difficult (you must understand that I was very young... I don't think I was in school yet). 7:48 Mouse Trap. I remember that game. ... Hmmmm, you are missing some games... Like one where we play a fairy that must stop polluted raindrops from touching the ground.
I loved Colecovision. It had it all.I loaned it to a relative but lost track of it over time.Probably biggest gaming regret.
Graphically I'd say this little gem was ahead of it's time
I miss my Coleco :( even though I only had two games: Mr. Do and Evolution, but I had so much fun playing them
Great listing of games on ColecoVision, thanks! Not sure, but I don't remember seeing Dragon's Fire on this list. That was a Coleco game also, where you start off outside the castle near the moat.
This games were veeeeeery advanced for its time, some games shows incredible graphics

Brings back good memories
Man did I miss out on this console. Look how superior it was to the Atari 2600.
This takes me BACK! 30 yrs later! I had the steering wheel with the whole thing.
Still play my colecovision today. Have over 90 games for it. Got half of them in the past 10 years. Thanks eBay. I play this more than my Xbox one.
I'm approaching 40 and this vid has brought tears especially when I saw Mr. Do. I'm gonna message my parents after this.

Mr do was by far.my favorite, I had 2600 and Cole o.
Frenzy, frontline, and gateway to asphii looked cool.
i spent so many hours playing ladybug, and venture, omega race, and so many more. but hell did i ever love Jumpman jr.
Donkey Kong Jr. Wow what a flashback.
Carnival, Jumpman Jr., Omega Race, Peppere 2 are some of the ones I had.I especially liked Jumpman Jr. and Pepper 2. I think a great idea would br to make these available on Xbox live to download like the Atari and Intellivision games.
Loved Gateway to Asphai, Venture, Zaxxon, Mr. Do, and Star Trek. I remember when we got Pac Man in the mail and he was in the shape of a square and his body didn't change direction. Memories...
just bought one on ebay. ( reliving my childhood )

Great video, it's funny that Telly Turtle it's just a Logo perhaps :). That games looks really good.
I just noticed in the Coleco ad at the start, when they turn on the "coleco" it's an intellivision boot screen. donkey kong shown is also the INTV version (on the commercial). The kid doesn't even actually plug the DK cart into the colecovision either, you have to press the carts down with quite a bit of force to seat it
Dont blink! I think i had a epileptic seizure. Awesome memories..love beamrider, These games would be great for smartphones.
I remember thinking how cool buck rogers was because for the colecovision i had the game looked exactly like a cassette tape.

I didn't see it here, but was there ever a port on this console of the game Track And Field?
Very cool. I have my original ColecoVision. I have Galaxian which I don’t think I saw here. It was made by Atari. There’s game play vids on youtube : ) There’s quite a number of games I never knew they made. I have a few obscure ones. I wonder how many units they actually sold. And where the heck they sold them at! CV had the best graphics and sound for it’s day. An relatively faithful arcade ports.
I swear the graphics for colecovision were superior compared to most of the early atari systems.
Just found this video in my recommend vids. Lmfao!!! My first video game system. Got it on my 10th birthday. It came with donkey kong. I remember getting the game Venture, bump and jump, burgertime, time pilot and smirfs.
It was ahead of its time.
Wow!..first time I've seen some of these games since I last turned off my ColecoVision 35 years ago.
Thank you!!!
Avenger, Spectron, Cross Force, Dam Busters, Fraction Fever, Frogger, Telly Turtle, War Games were the games I owned shown here. Good times.
The good old days, I miss em 😞
no puedo creerlo, la buena calidad de los juegos para esa epoca, increible
This is super cool
You missed, at the absolute least, 1 game, I remember playing a snake game that was not shown, but thanks for reminding me that I play Donkey Kong on ColecoVision up to 4 years before Nintendo made it! I saw an Arknoid-like game and a 1942 like game. I remember my 4 year older brother popping this out when I was very young. I was 4 when NES came out and we had to wait a year to afford it, so I may have been 4.

This clip must be in the top10 ooooh, Old days!!
Looper, Mousetrap, Star Trek, Time Pilot was SO GOOD when released!!
These games look good for their time. Something I can't say for games nowadays.
Memories of childhood 😍😍
Just FYI, the game at 3:55 is called Destructor, not Destroyer. Thanks for the upload!
Quite a few missing games...but thanks for the refresher:)
I had one but I loved playing basketball outside or do other things with my friends so I never really used it much.
I'm still impressed with the improvements Coleco made to Space Panic. if you ever played the arcade version of that, the sound effects are horrendous.
The zaxxon port was one of the best
Missed Smurf, I have all these games still in a box somewhere. What memories!

SewSeal InJinnEarRing Whoops, yeah meant I missed the Smurf game. Wow, I think I do too, not sure - they are all in storage unit.
I used to love this Cabbage Patch Kid Movie Maker game, and it wasn't on here! But otherwise, this was a great blast from the past.
great video :)
Thanks for that, now i want to bring that sucker in from the garage!
The cool part is the library of games abled to be played on the system and the ability to use a Sega controller.
Destroyer gave me nightmares as a kid cause of that monster made an awful ringing sound everytime he chased you and the way he moved when just off screen. it literally freaked me out
I remember a game called The Heist, did not see this in the video. It involed stealing items out of a room, pictures and other artifacts. Elevators, and boobytraps had to be avoided. It's ironic that my brother heisted this same titled game for money to buy drugs. His introduction into a life of sorrow and misery!
When is this due to be released?
Memory lane. Miner 2049er was my favorite. I remember baseball with the massive “super action” controller. The whole system suffered from the challenging controllers. But the graphics were superior for the time.
My dad has one of these old beauties. I'm 13 years old, and I think those games are more fun than these new first person shooters!
My favourite game back then was Montezuma's Revenge, my uncle had the cartridge. Also honorable mention to Grog's Revenge!

Funny story about that game. I played it so much, I kept going and going and then the game froze. I wrote them a letter (remember those things back in the day?) and they wrote me back and said that the game only went so far and then would freeze because they never expected anyone to go that far! So they said I had "beaten the game" lol. LOVED my colecovision!

@@Dutil48 No, montezumas revenge. It went on and on and on and then just glitched out on you if you were brave (bored) enough to play for hours lol
You left out Slither and Up & Down (probably the rarest game I own). Also Turbo, which I don't own. However, kudos for including Telly Turtle (yes, basically a simplified version of Logo) & Illusions, a game I could never make heads or tails of.
Wow, so many I did not know existed - maybe never sold in Canada. Was good at Mr. Do & Ladybug. QBert was so ahead of its time - looks great even now. Most are so passé. Donkey Kong & DK Jr. are most historically significant with first Mario & Donkey Kong - ancestors to current Nintendo empire.
Wow, it's neat to see (almost) all of the games at once. Thanks for sharing the vid; Jesus Christ Bless! :)
My parents bought a Coleco for our family when I was 4 years old, but evidently we didn't have any of the really decent games -- I'm really surprised at what it was actually capable of. (On the other hand, we've gotten entertainment for a few decades now at how Smurf "thunked" onto his side stone dead if he touched a blade of grass...)
It's interesting how many games were top down scrollers, instead of the jumping style, in Mario.
Wow, this system was actually quite advanced for the time. Some of the games scrolled and some had near NES quality graphics! If it weren't for the video game crash of '83, this console would have done well, I'm sure. I don't know about that controller, though, otherwise I might want a Colecovision for my collection!
I noticed a mistake in the first commercial. What you saw on the TV was their inferior version they put out for the Intellivision.
I remember getting massive scores on Time Pilot by just flying diagonally (faster) and picking up parachuters. You never got hit, and the value of each pick-up increased.
Golden era
0.07 that cartridge wasnt inserted correctly lol
wao me acuerdo cuando salio esta consola de juego todo el mundo la queria por sus maravillosos juegos.
Man....so many games there I loved. (And yeah, where was Turbo?!!?!) Destructor was a lost classic for real--I remember convincing my friend to buy that because he had the wheel controller and I didn't. Great game.
antarctic adventure 🥺💖
Cosmic avenger!!! Used to love getting the heat seeking missed in front of my ship
I got one at 12 in 1982...Zaxxon...and Rocky Boxing wichtje super action controller
