I remember when I went on the Back to the Future ride at Universal Studios in Orlando. I had no idea we were on a track. I was skeert shitless. After I realized we were on a track i was freaked out. It really looked like we were flying over the big white clock in town.

Michael J Fox is an absolute legend. He didn't actually play this in back to the future but after filming it he got so many requests from people on talk shows asking him to play it that he learnt it. And to play it with this awful condition so well I have nothing but respect for him.

From my understanding he did kinda play the song. He didn't play it well at all but learned the cords so he was at least close to looking like he was playing it even though he was way off but on camera it looked close enough He later actually learned the song.

I don't know about you but I was 5 when the movie came out. Just goes to show how great of a movie it is still being talked about 39 years later.

JZZY WLLMS He's a hero in the sense that he's an inspiring person. He's overcoming his own boundaries by getting up in front of thousands of people and playing guitar with a disease that affects your muscles. I play guitar myself and I can't imagine what it must be like to play with Parkinsons. It took some serious balls to do what he did here. Massive respect for the guy. Did he get a fee? Maybe. I'd like to think that if he did he donated it to his charity fund, but I guess we'll never know.

I believe the official definition of 'hero' is: "a person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities." Michael has all 3 of those. So to me at least, he's a hero.

Now you seem to be saying that a person's view of a 'hero' is subjective. So that means I can see him as a hero if I want, and you may not. That's fine. You can give him all the labels you want. When I was a kid I went to the same school as Michael had gone to a couple years prior, we was "famous" at the time for being on a local Vancouver TV show, this was even before Family Ties. He was my hero then, he is a hero now. Awesome how much he accomplished, and still inspires.

Burnaby Central. 10 years after he moved out, there were still young girls hanging around out front of his parent's house, hoping to get a glimpse of him.

Amazing, to both have the skill and the confidence to get on that stage despite his condition. Super inspiring. I didn't know he played!

Gotta wonder how much playing helped as therapy. I have depression from chronic back pain and music is my savior. MJF is an inspiration. No matter of the trials one goes through, one thing that that brings all people together is music no matter the genre.

Our parents weren’t ready for that. But we loved it.

Awesome….I went to Coldplay because my wife wanted too…. I wasn’t a big fan….didn’t dislike them , just didn’t know much about them..one of the best shows I’ve ever seen..awesome

So many props to MJ Fox. Johnny B. Goode is hard enough for guitar players to play live, but to do it with the limitations he had to overcome is god like. I couldn't even start imagine how much work went in to relearning the basics of guitar with no control over his hands.

I always respected MJ I was 14 when back to the future came out and blew me away, amazing guy and amazing he still gives it all he has to play despite this horrible disease he fights. Hat off to you sir

There are moments that warm your heart, like the Enchantment Under the Sea dance scene from BttF. Then there are moments that break your heart, like Michael's diagnosis. But then, my friends, then there are moments that make your heart soar high like an eagle. This is one of those moments and forever will be. Thank you, Coldplay. Thank you, Michael.

Not sure how anyone could not love that clip given what MJF was battling. I never realized he actually played the guitar riffs in the original BTF and now with severe Parkinson's. So cooooool!

Actually, Fox admitted someone else played the riff, but he knew it well enough to do a brilliant finger sync. He said he could play it, but he couldn't play it THAT tight.

@@jaklumen Exactly, they taught him the song so it looked right, but one of the people who does "This is what they're really playing" pointed out it's pretty close... just in the wrong key. I'm not sure if he relearned it along the way or his guitar is tuned differently when he plays it here.

I guess I haven't really paid much attention to Coldplay, but wow, what a great moment. I was 10 years old when Back to the Future came out. For me it was an instant classic. So much respect for Coldplay now. Good on them.

Very nice tribute to a very cool man. Come on MJF, we're all still here with you hoping you get better soon. This 62-yr-old digs Coldplay. :-)

You don't have to imagine, go watch "Light of Day" starring MJF and Joan Jett. His playing and singing in that film is genuine, not dubbed over like it was in BTTF. He was really quite good for a non-pro.

My grandpa has Parkinson's and can not move anymore. Michael J. Fox has Parkinson's and is still playing guitar. Keep it up edit: my grandpa died one month ago 😪 (May 2021)

My father-in-law got Parkinson's at age 79 and only lasted 3 years until he passed. When we asked we were told it is different when you get it at a young age compared to getting at an older age.

Watch for the changes and try to keep up!" before turning around and shredding that guitar like it's never been shredded before.

If you watch the documentary A Head full of dreams, he states that Back to the future was an inspiration for forming the band!

Michael J Fox is so awesome. Countless memories, iconic characters and adventures he has given us. And the way he just starts jammin on Johnny B Goode, EPIC! He got me on the air guitar which grew into a passion. Thanks to all involved with this performance. We need more shows like Coldplay.

This is awesome, I grew up in the 80's, Michael J is a national treasure and it's great to see this. If you saw this live what a cool thing to experience ☮️
