    I took off the belt-loop on the sheath that came with my Recon Scout in O1 steel. I screwed the sheath onto a pistol belt, and the carry system works great for everyday carry.

    Say Heah Tac't. Yeah I went East this weekend towards you. But I'm testing out a new Cold Steel Master Hunter in 3V, I also have one in the S M III too, that one I teamed up with a C. S. Kukuri Plus. I got a Fox Bushcraft Parang as a One Tool Option for my wet and snowy conditions but the Bohler N690Co. is a good all weather stainless. But anyhow, I got the Master Hunter to cover all my bases if needed. But this weekend, I'm teaming my Recon Scout in the CarbinV which I have (2) one that I use and the other one is a safe queen. I really came to appriciate the C. S. Zero Quench. It's similar to the S. O. G.'s Cryo Tempering. and S. O. G. does a great job with that tempering on my Seal Pup Elite TiNi which is in the AUS8a. which C. S. also used it in their S. R. K. and both hold a pretty good edge retention and both are pretty tough. tough. That's why the SK-5 is pretty tough. My CarbonV is a 1085 CroVan but with their Zero Quench they call it the CarbonV. Yeah, Both knives compliment eachother and even with the size difference. Ones more a survival knife and the smaller Master Hunter will be my bush craft knife. I prolly could make a piggybavk with the two. But because I could team it with some of my other offering's, I'll leave them as is. I'm also bringing my C. S. Double Edge Machete (discontinued), my Estwing Double Bit Hatchet and my Bond (egg shape handle) Saw. This set should suffice this weekend. If the weather permits. I also had a experience with my Ranger RD-9 like you just had, The blade curved even more, then straight end up ad it was eight. "(that song, I looked at my watch and it was eight, she made alittle move that made me stand out stright)" heh heh heh Chuck Berry. Anyhow, a great review, Thanx You.,,.

    Say Heah Brother Tac't, Peace Out. I do enjoy watching you. I like your channel and I get alot of info on knives when I'm looking for a knife. When I got my first Cold Steel back in 1990, I didn't have a clue what I bought. It was a San Mai 3 Trail Master and then I found out. I got some knives in the CarbonV, Infact I have (2) Recon Scout's, a S. R. K. and a O. D. A., I also got ripped off on e-bay and was sold a 2nds Recon Tonto, The knife works fine but the one side lines are off. But the drought ended just like in Cleveland when the Cav's became N. B. A. Champs that ended a 52 year drought, anyhow it ended for me too. I got a knife similar to the Trail Master in CarbonV, It's my Ka-Bar Bundok BK-20 I just found out that once the 450 Limited Edition were sold That's it. I think the same goes for the BK-4 and the BK-5 So if you find them on the net get them since they too are discontinued. I got lucky, I have (2) sets of the BK-4 and 5, But a great Bundok BK-20 that's a copy of a Marine Clearing/Fighter in the Philippines Conflict. But yeah, that Recon Scout is a awesome knife. I use one of mine and the other one is still have the red warning tape and virgin with the Cordura Sheath. Usually when I scout out a new area, I basically use it as a One Tool Option and I can bring either my S. R K. with is a bit much so I just team it up with my Mini Pendleton in VG-1 and the two really compliment eachother. I still consider you Friend.

  • @frankman7384
    @frankman73848 жыл бұрын

    That is my favorite cold steel knife fixed blade. The SK5 steel is not too pricey, holds it's edge very long and a low enough carbide level to keep very stable edges. In custom knives with perfect heat treat, it has few rivals. If you got a "good one" from cold steel, cherish it because they are worth every penny. I'd pass on the O1 version though. SK5 is hard to mess up, thats why so few break. Keep up the good work.

    When axes don’t work, there is a fun thing to do with large and hard chunks of wood. Drill a hole straight into the grain that is just the diameter of an M-80 firecracker, then put an M-80 firecracker in the hole and the explosion should split it and send the to halves flying

    I finally decided to get one of these after years ago when it first came out. in my opinion the knife has a nice feel much like the trailmaster, the only problem I can tell ( without using it ) is the sheath. or at least the Nylon part of it, My question is , this knife worthy of having a custom sheath made to the user's specs?

The best 7.5 inch fighter and the best way to spend a hundred fifty. all other knives this size are not as capable. This is a very high quality knife & can survive a lot of abuse but the design is tactical. It is pretty much an improved replacement for the WW II combat knives. Buying a combat blade to use as a hatchet and a splitting wedge is like buying a sports car to use as a logging truck. Get a Buck Compadre. It costs less. It's actually designed to be beat on with a stick rather than stick people. Oh heck. If you want to play soldiers get yourself one. They really are tough and people won't laugh at you.
