Cold Steel and KaBar 1249 Kukri Review Comparison and Chop Fest $20 vs $50

In this knife video film comparison thing, we take a look at the cheap Cold Steel Kukri Machete and the Ka-Bar 1249 Kukri. We compare and contrast, perform very unscientific chopping tests. And I offer my thoughts and feelings on two Kukris About $50 or less. Later in the video I compare them with other more and less popular Westernized Kukris, like the Himalayan Imports, the Zombie Tools Vakra, and the BudK Indian Kukri thing. Which Kukri should you buy or spend your ill gotten money on.

i bought the Kabar kukri in 2012 and have used it every year for camping, trimming trees, splitting wood and cutting rope and such and have sharpened it maybe twice. as long as you arent chopping rocks with it, it will keep a workable edge for a long time.

Ive had a cold steel kukri for around 14yrs. Great for chopping the hand off of thieves! I put a rubber grip from a garden hose on the handle because its uncomfortable. Ive used and abused it in every possible way and it still works great.

I know this is an old post, but I have a Cold Steel Gurkha Light Kukri that I carried to war (no, it was not used in any gruesome h2h or anything) because I could not afford the much heftier Gurkha Kukri. The Cold Steel Gurkha kukri *machete* tested here is not the same animal, it's a lot thinner and lighter (and cheaper). I'd still buy one, but doubt it'd hold up to the OG leg-chopper ones. Hang on to that thing. They may make them still but I've not seen one in a long time.

Thank you for a straight up review! JFYI: Before we go any further-I hope you NEVER use the term "blood groove", for those that do simply don't think! Long ago I learned from a well known knife maker that the groove began somewhere around WWI (ish, I believe)-as the only tech way to lighten a longer blade length! Just tryin' to help-again, thanks! Take care, "GOD Bless", sincerely - P.S.: You're right as the rock cutters were ABSOLUTE craftsmen!

I continue to use the term blood groove! I’ve had this conversation at length in the comments of other videos. It’s a colloquial term sure... but it goes back much further than you think. It had been used by knife makers to describe the fuller... and most importantly it triggers people! Look under etymology: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuller_(weapon) Read the marketing materials here (1951-1956 section): www.knifecenter.com/item/BUCMBO119LE/buck-119-special-legacy-collection-historical-collectors-set Thanks for watching!

Got a cold steel machete Kukri the other week just got around to sharpen and polishing the edge today it comes dull but I like that as I can put my own edge on. It seens pretty good but I don't like how thin it is compared to regular kukris. Haven't tested it yet but will do on the weekend. I own a hand forged Nepalese Kukri but even though it's full tang I just have it on display I don't have the heart to take it out camping/bushcraft with me lol am weird I just love the thing it's a work of art. Thinking about getting a British army standard ceremonial Kukri for display and using the full tang in the field

Highly entertaining as ever :). When you can, you may want to try the Royal Kukri Machete from Cold Steel. It's longer, much more like a kukri in design, and packs way more chopping power. Same limitations for hardwoods though, as it is thin and flat sheet metal with a ground edge. Upside, you can catch it on sale for $20 or less, and in the coming Zombie Apocalypse, it will serve way better as a makeshift weapon. That being said, I REALLY need to get my hands on one of those KaBars - seems like a pretty sweet short machete option, especially if I can catch a sale.

The Kabar Cutlass chopper is a fave and I have the CS magnum kukri machete which is fast in the hand and a giant razor blade . I'd like your opinions about the CS Smatchet , but they have been discontinued which is hard to believe . If you have already done a review on the Woodsman Pal , I will shut the hell up and quit asking . Once again Knife Bro -> Good and fair review and an Excellent job on specifications . Other blade reviewers could learn a few things from you . Thanks once more for your videos . Time for another Heineken and a cig .
