The Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri was inspired by Cold Steel President, Lynn C. Thompson’s close association with Dr. Maung Gyi, chief instructor of the American Bando Association, and a renowned martial artist with wide-ranging knowledge and skills. Under Dr. Gyi’s tutelage, Lynn gained insight into the full potential of the Kukri and learned it was not just a chopping weapon but a piercing, slashing, and smashing weapon as well. Smashing techniques allow the Kukri to function as a hammer or mallet or to deliver non-lethal blows in a self-defense role. A concentrated blow with the back of the blade can break bones or be lethal if directed at the head.
With Dr. Gyi’s input, Thompson designed a longer, narrower point for the Gurkha Kukri with more distal tapering to the spine. This resulted in a thinner, sharper point which can be deeply driven into thick, tough targets with minimal effort.
Finally, a masterfully designed Kray-Ex handle was added to maximize the blade’s fierce potential. Perfectly contoured and deeply checkered, it offers a superb non-slip grip and cushions the hand from the shock of the hardest blow.

Good to see a Cold Steel testing video. Haven't seen one in a while
I personally know several families of gurkhas. The gurkhas are not mercenaries. They are part of the british army. Prince Harry even carried a Kukhri in Afghanistan.
@CthonicSoulChicken

The mercenary thing started when they were hired out by the East India company. But you're right--they're very much uniformed soldiers for the UK.

Mercenaries are freelance soldiers basically
That really is a wonderful creation, glad to see Cold Steel still got it !
That is just vicious. Gonna add that to my collection. Thanks, Stick!
I have those kukri's tattooed on my arm. My kukri's from cold steel are probably 15 years old...the best knife company ever. Thank you Lynn
i carried the CS Special Project Kukri for my 6 years in the Infantry back in the 90's hands down the best tool i carried next to my multi tool , then as a security contractor it got respect from my Saudi counter parts
Phil Collins is really on a rampage in that video! Nice looking knife!
That’s an amazingly beautiful knife, kukris are always amazing. Also, just like the rest of the cold steel knives, it looks extremely strong.
Cold steel is the greatest knife manufacturer in the world In my opinion
Looks amazing and the video was very good representation of how good performance wise. The bending stress test had me waiting for a snap....lol. Still straight after that is surprising.
Gotta say, I absolutely love it. Love the history of Gurkhas and the Kukri.
Y'all stepped it up! As a fan of the Venerable Khukuri, I like this.

Really wanna test it send it to joeX Seems like it took a set to me
Awesome knife!
I have that one SK-5 . One of my favorite Models. I can baton split firewood heavier than my camp axe. Keep up the great work 💯👍🗡🤠
I want one , absolutely stunning performance
👍👌💪Absolutely awesome blade.
What a beast of a blade
Great video! The more you talk about the blade and keep attention on it the better it is. We will come to know the blade better and trust you more.

The original Gurkha Kukri video is the most dominant knife videos I have ever seen.
Congrats Jason!
I have the chaos vs... so over the top. Love it
I've been around blades all my life since childhood. I've got the original C.S. kukri in sk5. It is so sharp I have to pay strict attention when handling it for safety's sake. What a beast! Now in 3v!!?
I've been waiting along time to get this piece If Beans has one put me down for 2
This is VERY high on my list of future buys.
I’m impressed
i have the sk5 version, that thing is a beast. and it has my favorite handle of all my fixed blades
Awesome
Nice knife I need one of those
Gonna get one for summer
CPM 3V is an ideal option for a chopping blade!
I like to watch that CS guy he is very good at what he is doing.
Bought the rajah 2 at a parking lot sale at the old ventura location. I may upgrade to the full size. Crazy tool
Cool Video Awesome
Good verrygood my bai
CS ads are the best in the business
Good throw.
Better than one made in Napal or anywhere else on the plant. Mung Gyi and Lynn Thompson made a great blade for work or blade battles. 😊
I want to see Stick and JoeX get together and work through a few knives in the major size categories.
That's a beast
very cool
Awsome blasé!!!
Hi coldsteel is there any chance you will make this without the plus!
- Hey , you got a hammer ?! I need to break that cinder block ... - Don't worry, got my knife right here ....

Pretty impressive that a blade that long and almost 8mm thick is under 10oz.

Awesome Kukri and serious super steel ⚔️ I have the O1 tool steel version and I still like the newer 3v and the German Steel version to But tell me it weighs more than 9.5 ounces , it just has to.

I have impressed. Respect from Russia.
that guy is having the time of his life slashing
Is it cold steel the factory of blade?
Do those rapid chopping cuts with the buckler in your other hand. Please. It would make a really interesting paring and video! Stopped at 1:43 minutes to type this. Hoping you find the idea an interesting way to develop art... Would be great exercise!
I'd love to own that it's a bit steep for me I regularly messaged cold steel with ideas for the UK they acknowledged but never replied. Cold steel is ace
For $750 this fuckin thing better fight the bad guys itself.
well YEAH its strong look how FREAKING thick it is!
Did you ever give those axes away from the Facebook post?

@@genuinelyconcerned3504 damn :(. custom made from kydex? where i live i couldnt even get sheath for smaller one, so i make one from 2 milimeters thick plastic drainage pipe. it sure isnt pretty, but works damn fine for that shovel. i know that czech army shovel sheath works just as fine with smaller one...
You should also make some swords with that steel.
Is that the kukri or the kukri machete? Pretty sure they're two different products.
Wonderful. Right up until you see the price tag. Nearly $800 for a knife.
Damn! I'm Jason Jones! You had me for a sec @4:53 but thats not my email😢
I still have my old CS video where Lynn takes the head off a pig in one swipe!🖖🖖🖖🖖
Not a bad idea to cover your arms with some tough impact resistent cloth when doing that bending test. Stay safe buddy.
I’m literally blown away right now…. 9.5 Ounces what?? Did I hear that right? (EDIT: apparently it is a typo) I have kukris that are no where near that weight.. and are smaller.. I have this Kukri but have not used it once, since I use my other “beaters”, but this will definitely be my hiking blade from now on!!! Hopefully the GSM heat treat isn’t garbage… that part has me concerned..

It’s a typo. Mine is 23 oz. Peter’s does the heat treatment, not Taiwan, so it’s the best available. I can chop sheet metal with no edge damage.

I have the older style Kukri Plus Machette with the black blade. You can do some serious damage with that too.
@NLSkooch

You can get the black Kukri Plus Machette for about $40. It's made from 1055 steel with a similar handle. You can do the same sort of playing for a fraction of the price.
That's getting closer to a @JoeX level of testing
Feel kinda bad for the cinder block
I Wanna Handle That
right here buddy I'll take one! Nice tool! Do you have any catalogs out for 2023 yet? but you can forget paying over 350.00 for it that's forsure! If it's 750.00 good luck selling alot of em! Just saying! Half that sure but 750.00 no thanks!

Mercenaries! They won't like you calling them thar. They are professional soldiers of the British army for hundreds of years 1815!
+csknives *Effective even dull.*
Hi
That blade was wayyyy bent. No way did it come back to true. You can see it plain as day.
I wish you wouldn't put that goofy guard on there... Other than that, I love this blade.
correction... gurkhas are not mercenaries. Their service in the british military is an extension of their service in the colonial army under certain non negotiable terms.
all i know is that the Taiwanese lady from Black Lagoon had two of these things and she was a FORCE!😭😂😂
I think he meant 19.5 ounce weapon 🔪 Not 9.5 ounce weapon 🔪

22.9 ounces is when it is almost 23 ounces not 9.5 that would be impossible but hey with Cold Steel you just never know do you 😜
That's a very impressive knife there, but for $800. I could just buy me a pistol and don't have to get that close.

Thank you for the video but for me I never liked them. I prefer a smaller machete with a sawback and a D handle
Im a small knife content creator; but i will never have the potential of being "Cold Steel" cool.
Great for Vampires.
At the end he says machete but it’s not the machete version. I know that & I haven’t bought CS in a decade.
The post-Lynn Thompson CS khuks are 4034 stainless steel, a low-end Krupp steel of .05 carbon similar to 420J2- not the previous higher-carbon SK-5 or 01.... PLUS the PRICE has gone way up... The new Cold Steel is disappointing in so many ways these days... JMO, YMMV!
