i can not confirm this, but my dad told me he had a green 69 charger just like it, he said he would get woke up around 4:30 or 5 am to the sound of the car cranking up, said the car had a specific skip to it so he knew it was his car. also two plug wires jumped off when my mom pulled onto the highway driving it. idk if its true just hear say

The first minute or two of the Charger idling cold takes me back to my childhood!! You see back in the fall of 1968 my next door neighbor bought a new car, a car the likes I as a small child had never seen before!! THAT CAR was featured in an issue of Mopar Magazine and is owned by William Card.....and the car was (and is) a 1969 Dodge Daytona Charger!!! At five years old I still recall those cool spring and summer morning start ups!! The way that Mopar engine ran EARLY in the morning with a crackle, crackle, crackle like it was missing a cylinder here and there randomly until it "warmed up" and "smoothed out", then it was a steady thump, thump, thump of the big block power rumbling to life! I really miss cars like that!! The sound is musical and hypnotic as you listen to the throbbing horsepower and choppy cam note! Of course as a kid I would hear the car start and then run to my bedroom window to watch that pointed nose and huge deck winged car slowly pass by in front of my house!! I was only 5 years old after all, and to me that is HOW a car was supposed to sound like!! Sure my uncle's GTO Judge was a nice car and the one kid my mother babysat had a father who drove (and raced) a Cuda and a Road Runner, but nothing impressed me more than that Daytona did rumbling by every morning!!

Open headers are the best option if you really want to make some noise and that's no joke, my father's exhaust pipe setup fell off from hitting a giant rock in the road and once he tried to start it on just open headers...you could feel the popping noise on the ground next to the engine it was thumbing , but anyways open headers are worth checking out if your looking for extreme exhaust notes

Is the grid heater working on the cummins? Should start easier then that. Even when it's cold and haven't been started in a while. When you pull it you should throw some rebuilt injectors in it. And check the grid heater. Can't beat a Ole 12 valve cummins sound, especially in person

I miss my 2 door 67 Plymouth valiant, 275 car with a swapped in 340. I had the car from 2000 to 2006. 2650 lbs with 320 horsepower. The only way you could see it wasn’t stock was the rear wheels and tires, which were stock but were widened by 1.5 inches. Still steel wheels with black powdercoat and the Plymouth mini moon hubcaps, but with 9” tires. The only other way to tell was the lope of the 340 through dual 2.5” exhaust which everyone asked about! I had many questions from people asking what big block was in it!

The Charger sounds soooooo mean! Nice. What kind of exhaust are you considering? When I was in High School I had a 1967 Barracuda 383 Formula S. We had to modify some Hooker Headers to get it to fit. Put on some collector mufflers and a 2 into 1 collector so that it exited the pipe at a 45 so the tip was right in front of the back wheel passenger. Kind of like a NASCAR look. Took a large single stainless exhaust tip and "squished" it in a press to make an oval out of it. Really cool side exit. Loving the Ratty Muscle Charger. The patina on this Charger is perfect! Can't wait to see it on the road. Keep it up bro! Cheers! Mike

Is there anything to the old myth or whatever of cold air reversion warping valves then the warp causes them to burn? The old theory was that cold air freely enters when the engine is shut down. If it is possible I would think running short straight pipes(or none) on cold Iowa winter days might be a bad thing. I'm no mechanic but have drank alot of beer with old time shadetree mechanics back in the day, some of them were even good at wrenching! Lol.
