Cold start 1952 Dodge M37 and operation

Ойын-сауық

This is an old U.S. Army Dodge M37 3/4 ton truck. They used them as troop transport and ammo carriers. Saw action in Korea and Vietnam wars. Not sure if any of the 3 I own was overseas or not but they are still really cool. The winch is out of action right now but it’s rated for 7,500 pounds. I’ve pulled logs and vehicles with it several times and worked great then. it’s a Braden winch that is driven by a PTO straight from the transmission that is a 4 speed. I’d like to Re-power it with a 4BT Cummins sometime for more power. The price to overhaul a flathead 6 cylinder is really high also. My 1948 Willy’s 4 cylinder flathead was $3,000 several years ago.

Never had a doubt. Sounded good once she warmed up. I used to start my 77 pinto wagon that way with a screwdriver.. try doing that with today's computer garbage. Looked good going down the road. Black out light still original. Now that's a test of engineering.

Pretty cool truck Preston! Just one thing you didn't show us was how to turn the AC on..... LOL Some pretty serious mud you were in there on the end. Awesome show today my friend. Way back my buddy had an old Willy's jeep, good thing we were young back then, it was rough riding.

I bought my 1952 U.S. Army Dodge Power Wagon M37 last month. It has a record of its last service in 1977 at 22,913 miles and it still reads 22,913 on the odometer. So this vehicle was bought at a U.S. Army auction 10 yrs ago that owner died and the family sold it to the guy I bought it from 4 months ago. It does have Missing parts I believe it was used as a parts truck by the Army. But I am rebuilding it piece by piece but it has been sitting in the open for years. Glad you got yours running so I can see if I missed any other parts. Thanks for the video. kzread.info/dash/bejne/h5OWu7aMlce2c9Y.html

How much choke does it usually need on really cold days?

Full choke and a couple turns. It actually starts pretty easy.
