COLD snowy SOLO overnight at the Tiny Cabin - How I managed to survive!

If you're looking for an exciting and wintery camping adventure, look no further than the Tiny Cabin! In this video, I'll show you how to spend a cold snowy night in the wilderness, all by yourself.
This is an incredible opportunity to experience nature without any other people around, and it's perfect for those who want to learn about self reliance and camping skills. If you're brave enough to take on this camping expedition, be sure to let us know how it goes!
SOLO overnight at the tiny cabin! First snowfall of the year while I was at the cabin and it was awesome! It was time to relax and take in the atmosphere of the beginning signs of winter. The work I put in during the summer with the firewood shed is paying off, with a store of seasoned firewood ready for the new wood heater, more than enough wood to last the winter! It is a pretty AWESOME feeling knowing a wood store is ready to use and not worrying about running out before spring! It was a nice relaxing night at the cabin with nothing on the chore list. The main objective, enjoy and relax at the TINY CABIN!

    Just came across your channel. Love it! I grew up in Spokane, WA and spent considerable time in BC. Mostly fishing in the Okanogan area. Some great trout in there. But I absolutely loved spending time with my dad up there. We journeyed as far north as Jasper at times, but tended to stay near the border back in the 50’s 60’s and 70’s. Your videos are so nostalgic for me as we camped out in the wilderness of BC often. Keep up the good work! I’ll be glued to the screen!

    Glad to hear about your wood shed. With the first shots in the video, I was worried when I saw that pile of wood just under the tree. As a kid at our off grid in MN, my cousins and I had to stack the wood after splitting. Enough to last the winter weekends. Big big job getting your wood ready. Glad your caring for it.

    My old Cape Cod house was not as warm as your cabin. It was much larger,the ceilings were 9 feet high. When the wind blew the window curtains moved. I moved in in October. I had two woodstoves ,but no wood. No water,no bath, the wiring chewed by squirrels or mice. I slept on a cot, in a sleeping bag, near the big stove in the backroom.One night a bucket of water near the bed froze pretty solid. I slept like a log and didnt get up at night to fill the stove. The back wall of that room was plastered and we tore it out to insulate it. The sheething boards on the studs were white washed, so people had lived in that unfinished house before it was plastered. It might have been built as early as 1765.The original deed to the land was 1760.I can relate to living in a wooden box , because that is what that old house was. Smaller is better sometimes. My cabin is 16x12 with an 8x10 front porch. it is insulated and I built it during the Covid shutdown in 2020. Your cabin is nice. Close the door!

    @@TheBushkateer Well it was a fixer upper , do it yourself and wing it house. it got fixed. I made $$ and went on from there. It was also haunted. The family of 13! that had lived there used a spring across the road for water. The big dug well in the field went dry in the summer. Groundwater,I guess. I had a well drilled and that night I woke up and hovering over me was the upper torso of a n old guy with white hair,a big moustache ,holding a cup in a white night shirt like they used to wear. He was there a while. I told a guy down the road about it next day. He wanted to know what the guy looked like etc. He had lived in that area a long time and told me it sounded like Old Man Stover that lived there when he was a kid. Some other weird stuff happened in that place. Nothing bad,just weird stuff. It was quite the adventure in 1984. even a piece of plastic sheeting across the ceiling will help keep heat in a place.Try it sometime.

    The woodshed is almost as important as the camp itself. You’ll really appreciate it this winter when you don’t have to dig down through the snow to find a pile under a tarp that’s half blown off and the wood is damp or it’s the wrong pile. It was a lot of work to build but will save you so much work in the long run. Just looking at the woodstove in the last couple of videos- is there enough room to put some fire bricks in to help hold the thermal mass at night?

  • @TheBushkateer

    @TheBushkateer

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks Peewee.31! You are correct about the firewood shed, the work was worth it the day I started to build it! I really did enjoy building it even in the heat and the bugs (bugs are not my favorite!) and now it is up I just have to keep it full from year to year! I do have fire bricks in the heater already, but I am thinking of getting some buckets of rocks to put around the back of the heater to collect and hold heat, the space back there is not being used anyway so that would give that space some usefulness. Thanks for tuning in and commenting!

    OK,,, The more I look at this,, The more I think this is my favorite cabin. This is what I wanted on my 10 acres in Luzerne, Michigan. Arguing with my contractor and wifie about tax, insurance etc. and losing the argument, I ultimately lost the cabin due to finances. This one is way cooler than the 3 bedroom one with 2 up loft one with a shower and microwave etc. Waaaay Cooler! eh ?

  • @TheBushkateer

    @TheBushkateer

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks John! You are probably correct with the foam board on the walls. I think it would work very well. I may do that in the spring, I would have to pull everything out of the cabin and redo the walls, covering them with more wood boards or something to cover the foam board keeping the atmosphere of the inside the cabin rustic. Thanks for the input!

    @@TheBushkateer you don't even need to use nails stick it to the wall with glue, but you need to seal those gaps in the walls. I would use 3 day blue painters tape on the outside sealing with black silicone on the inside then when you remove the tape it will be smooth outside.

    Hi I love your cabin! I wish you would insulate it though. And I noticed the gaps where I could see the light outside. You should seal those gaps up. Maybe use a thick towel to block the bottom of the door there to keep out the cold, at least til you get some good weather stripping for it. The walls need to be covered in some warm insulating material as well. And the ceiling too, so the heat doesn't escape through it too.
