    Not many are brave enough to camp during the winter months. Way to lead by example! Salute from Wolfpack Overland.

    I certainly think more people should, but then again, that is one of the draws...nobody is out there.

    Try doing a very thin wool liner sock under a thicker wool sock. Also, once you get camp all set up and you're ready to relax you might try changing socks. I did that when I was in the military and do it now when I'm hunting or camping. Keeps feet dry. Also, if your feet get cold at night try throwing a couple of those hand and feet warmers in the bottom of your sleeping bag. Thanks for the video!

    Glad you liked the video Darren. I bought some thick wool socks today, I'll test them out on my next trip. I like the changing the socks idea. My feet don't really get cold once I'm in my sleeping bag, they warmed up pretty quick after I went to bed.

    The coldest I have slept in was 23F in a tent in a bag on the ground. The chemical hand warmers under the arm pits and between 2 layers of socks made all the difference. I second this! Love the content, keep it up!

    Do you use a diesel heater?

  • @TheGrumpyGobbler

    @TheGrumpyGobbler

    I do not. It normally does not go below 32 degrees inside the 4Runner and because I have a -20 sleeping bag and sleep fully clothed, I am comfortable. I do normally run the engine right before I go to sleep and first thing in the morning to take the edge off.

    Great video. Making me seriously consider winter camping. But I’m a wuss. I’d need a diesel heater or something. Maybe add a diesel heater to your setup? They don’t seem terribly expensive some if the basic ones

    I never really have a problem inside the 4Runner because I have a -20 sleeping bag and sleep fully clothed. I do normally run the engine right before I go to sleep and first thing in the morning to take the edge off. I really just had a problem standing outside this time because my feet got cold.

    Grumpy, thanks for taking us out on another relaxing trip… Your 4Runner looks right at home in that winter wonderland. What a faithful rig. Great setup and very capable. The star time-lapse was awesome. Thanks for taking the time to do that. Until the next one GG….

    Hello my friend it's Mike I'm the inventor of the Original Fire Reflector and the co-founder of MC Ranch Overland Inc. I think that's so awesome you're out there in the cold with the Original Fire Reflector. I hope it kept you cozy. If you open it up just a little bit more into a parabolic shape you'll get a little bit more heat reflectance. You're not the guy that I was emailing a few weeks ago ex-military servicemen are you?

    @@Jimsranch He's had that propane heater for a long time, but doesn't have to use it on his channel very often. If I ever needed a heater, I would use propane over diesel for sure. I'm sure diesels can be ok at lower altitudes, but I often camp over 10,000ft and diesels have to be adjusted for that.
