Lyrics:
Taking her seat at the bar
She don't talk to anyone
Plane leaving soon for afar
Where she don't know anyone
She thinks of her precious time
There's no-one she leaves behind
Who could change her mind
Is this the way it's gonna be forever
Is this the way it's gonna be forever
Is this the way it's gonna be
Forever now
Take a whole life's lonliness
Wrap it up in some tenderness
Send it off to some emptiness
With all my love
Cos it's only you and me
There'll be nothing we need to see
Only one thing can set you free
Is all my love
Making his way down the stairs
He can't help but looking back
Thinks of the things that they shared
There'll be no more turning back
He thinks of the day they met
The words that she said of love
He just can't forget
Just the way they wanna be forever
Just the way they wanna be forever
Tell me it will always be
Forever now
Take a whole life's lonliness
Wrap it up in some tenderness
Send it off to some emptiness
With all my love
It's only you and me
There'll be nothing we need to see
Only one thing can set you free
Is all my love
It's only you and me
There'll be nothing we need to see
Only one thing can set you free
Is all our love, oh yeah

I was born in 87 i missed so much rock it just seemed both the fabric of Australia in the 90s and simultaneously before my time blending into the other older generation music. I find it hard to believe Australia went from the music of the 80s to now, it's not so much that today's is awful, but it has none of that Australian character that forged an identity. Perhaps it is just like other revolutions and was just the right people at the right time.

But through the years after hearing them on the radio through my day to day blue collar working life, they have definitely grown on me. I particularly love it when this song comes on the radio, volume dial definitely gets turned up.

Absolute rip off the sting and his shitty music. Aussies cant make music. Oh that little band ACDC. Half grown men jumping up and down in school uniforms.
LOL the drummer is wearing Nomads, they were the black leather boys shoes that were ubiquitous at high school in NZ in the mid to late 1980's. Didn't know they had them in Aussie as well.
I loved the pub scene in Sydney back in the early 80s. Fantastic bands that never grow old. Thanks Cold Chisel for the great music.
This song reminds me of my dad. can smell the diesel and beer of a Saturday afternoon. good memories
On the one hand it's disappointing that great Aussie bands like this didn't become world-famous. But on the other, their music is still out there and we can still enjoy it, and most Aussie musicians can lead normal lives without being endlessly mobbed. That's what I'd want if I were a musician

Drummer Prestwich wrote this one too - what a legend. Sad that he is gone now. Love the harmonies in this, Prestwich's Bossa Nova and Mossy's amazing mix of jazz latin and rock on the guitar. Love how Walker reads a magazine almost the whole way through, like he's still waiting for his coffee. Who would have thought a Bossa Nova would become an Australian rock classic.

Bossa Nova?? It's reggae mate. You can hear that it was originally written as a reggae song except Mossy's skank got replaced by a more straight forward rock rhythm/strum. Those drums are 100% reggae in the verses. Bass is reggae too.
