Fishing at Boomerang beach one afternoon a big lightning storm had moved in just on and dark I thought if anyone had seen me way out on the rocks fishing they would think I was mad. Then just as I was packing up around the point putts Col in his little tinny fishing boat. He pulled up near where I was big strikes of lightning belting down and next thing puts on some goggles and over the side he goes. Turns out one of his cray traps had become entangled. By this time it was almost dark. That was the sort of bloke he was. Had some great days at Celito surfing with Col who was always chasing the biggest and most extreme waves. Always a gentleman. RIP.

i remember me best mate herb having a green coloured Jim pollard fluid foils board up east end at Newy back in them days.

I saw Cole and his channel bottom boards in 77 I was surfing rocky point and Cole was surfing the lefts at gas chamber as swell had a lot of west in it.this was probably one of his first go outs in Hawaii. He was ripping and his board looked insane True fact.i was pretty in tune to all the shapes on the north shore as this was my 4th or 5th winter.usually Oct 1st thru start of March every year for 12 years.

wow definitely be checking that out cant wait ,, started glassing boards when channels were becoming a thing in OC New Port area we all had them but we were all tripping on the glassing / hot coats .. fin lay ups became a specialty or sander was yelling lol , then later on it became the dimple golf ball theory those were even harder ,, finally got to Hawaii 82-83 and never left lol

Thanks for the interest spread the word! We need to have a Hawaiian premier if we can organize it. Glasser/Sanders nightmare if they’re not up for the challenge!
