I bought an LED microscope with adjustable focus up to 10x magnification for $15 today. I put a loop on hold I’m picking up tomorrow. Beginners levels I’m sure but what a difference! Your advice on lighting was a huge help in obtaining better photos without glare, bless you! And I just gave my 2 hand held giant spy glasses I was using to my son..lol Great video. I know most of this seems common knowledge but for a beginner it makes a huge difference. It also alleviates headaches from staring through a giant lense for hours and then giving up because your 5 light sources have you now seeing spots. Haha Thank you for your easy to understand video tips, to a newby it makes a huge difference getting off on the right foot for a change. Y’all rock👍🏻

I used a 30X21MM and was going crazy seeing so many flaws I could not detect by the naked eye at all. I will be buying a 10X to look at them, so thank you for posting this.

Great video and great series. Interested on the opinion of LED lights and what color temp is considered ideal. I'd guess warm or maybe daylight, and about 1000 lumens? And I actually paused this video, and ordered a triplet. B&L thanks you!

What about LED bulbs? And, at what light wave length? I'm assuming that it's warm or soft color, but even among different bulb types, warm colors differ considerably. So, the right light bandwidth should be mentioned.

I may have just bought a 1895 O in MS 69 Im going to send it in to you to be graded. Yes im insuring it as the value of MS 69

I use an old quality magnifying glass and sit near a window for natural light, I find I can see any faults this way

What's your opinion on wearing gloves while handling the coins? Where can I go to buy coin sleeve to put them in? And what is your opinion on handling them with tweezers to avoid touching them too much or at the very least having my own fingers in my way? Or would that not be recommended cuz I could cause more scratches?

Wearing gloves might be a good idea if you have a beautiful uncirculated coin that you want to protect. I don't use gloves to look at circulated coins. Coin flips and holders can be found on Amazon pretty cheap. I would not use tweezers to hold your coins you will make scratches with tweezers. I hope this helps good luck

Why do you not use cotton gloves or rubber cots/tips when grading? Have you not heard of oil from human skin?

I don’t think 75w clear, incandescent lightbulbs are manufactured anymore

They dont sell incandescent bulbs anymore. Im lost on what to use. Spent a lot of money trying things

Why do the background videos show graders handling coins w/their bare hands? Is this what can be expected from PCGS?

I believe they use more energy than fluorescent. The Climate Crazies don't want us using them.

Extremely energy inefficient. They mostly produce heat rather than light. I don't think its even possible to buy them anymore is it?

What ever happened to keeping a silver dollar in your pocket to flip and for good luck? You guys have taken coin collecting WAY to far into geekdom. If they are cool to look at for you, then collect it. I haul an 1874S double eagle that my dad gave me that he got from his dad around in my pocket for good luck. It got shiny'er over the years though but I do not care, gives me good luck and I am never broke.

+Annie Soucek Nickels only contained silver during the war years (1942-45). Dimes, quarters and halves were 90% silver through 1964.
