Per is by far one of the greatest guitar players to come out of Sweden. He's RIDICULOUSLY underrated.

Per is a once in a generational talent. Humble, handsome and incredible at guitar.

If you're watching this and haven't listened to Scar... Please just do. As superb as they are, they are beyond underrated. Per is a magician, cosmic musician. I'll forever sing his praises lol

Good to see you've been keeping up with proper care and feeding of your Per, Ola. I felt sorry for him being stuck in your closet all that time.

Per is a national treasure. I wish I could hire him for a lead guitar for my upcoming album. He’s the love child between Holdsworth and Guthrie while having his very own thing which is so strong.

Just picked up Scar Symmetry's "Holographic Universe" after watching this 2nd interview w/ Per. What a fantastic album, gives me the same groovy goosebumps I got when I first bought Soilwork's "Natural Born Chaos". You Swedes RULE!

I remember checking out bands back in... 04? Maybe before, and came across soilwork.. I downloaded like 3 songs and bought every album they had released up till then. I got everything on my old iPod and everytime I go on a road trip soilwork comes out. Later found scar symmetry maybe around 2011/12? And I was just blown away by the guitar work. Artificial sun project is still probably my fav song from them just hits everything perfectly. Both bands are extremely underrated

Also, lets keep the Swedish guitar players going. Would love to see Tommy and/or Chris from Sabaton on Coffee With Ola!

I always enjoy when Per is on. His lead playing is one of the most unique styles I've ever heard and I don't know of a lame Scar Symmetry track.

What a great interview Ola. Per is a truly excellent musician and a really lovely guy. I’ve been a fan of Scar Symmetry from pretty much the beginning and it’s awesome to have them back. Incidentally I’ve just taken delivery of all the vinyl rereleases and the new album is on preorder. And you’re right Ola, DON’T go down the vinyl rabbit hole. It genuinely does become an addiction. I’ve been a collector for years and I’m almost at full capacity here at home in terms of where to store them. I need a bigger house.😬 Thanks again Ola and Per.

I just recently got into SS (I'm at Holographic Universe right now) and it's the first band for many months that I really got into with excitement again (grinding through every album for a week at least, remembering the song titles, listening on shuffle to check if I remembered correctly and then ranking the songs). So thank you Per for creating meaningful music for all these years, can't wait for the June premiere!

This was awesome. Made me feel good as well knowing this dude is using straight up Neural DSP plugins for his record. I'm doing the same on mine right now and if its good for Per, its good for me!

I was lucky enough to see him play with Scar Symmetry in Umeå, opening for Orbit Culture and Halo Effect and of course Meshuggah, which was weird seeing Fredrik without his long hair but with a huge beard instead. On stage you could really see Per enjoy what he does, just go into a sort of other realm while playing but at the same time have an amazing stage presence and connection to the audience. I have barely played guitar compared to anyone else but he really do inspire me at least improve somewhat or as much as I can. Much love Per and of course, Ola aswell

es increible lo humilde que es per la verdad en mi opinion es uno de los guitarristas mas infravalorados de la escena del metal moderno , desde pitch black progress que escucho scar symmetry y tiene una manera de tocar super interesante , el ultimo disco es una locura y tiene su sello personal de como tocar , no sera petrucci o dimebag darrell pero escuchas un solo de este tipo y sabes que es per nilsson , mi tema favorito de scar es cryonic harvest es super cosmico

Listening to a new Scar Symmetry album I realized that this "northern music" was, it still is and most probably will be completely different musical universe than the rest of the world.. very unique attitude to composition, weird hybrid scales etc. no matter the genre (especially notable is the scandinavian jazz scene btw)! I wondered if Per is influenced also by Extol, because I heard their harmonic signature many times on the album, but it may be a coincidence and I may be completely wrong.. anyway best wishes to Per, really inspirational guy and iconic, unique guitar player....also amazing interview Ola, thank you :)

I honestly didn't even know who this guy was until I saw him filling in for Fredrik during Meshuggah's "Violent Sleep of Reason" tour dates. At first I was just kind of annoyed that Fredrik wasn't playing with Meshuggah during that time since he was a such a huge part of the band and their sound, but I was pleasantly surprised with Per's unique solos and guitar tone during the show and I became a fan.
