As much as Doug doesn't want to talk about cats. That coffee table bed combo will be simply perfect for those little feline monsters.
Have you all considered reaching out to any Vets or Dog Behavior specialists to check things that they recommend in dog beds?

I think owners will need to speak to a specialist when you drop $$$ on a dog bed just to have them prefer the floor.
Very curious what the Craftsman promise looks like for these. Traditionally Wyrmwood has done a "whatever happens to it, even if you throw it down the stairs and your dog chews it up, we'll fix it or refund you." There are dogs who will chew these up.
I LOVE THE COFFEE TABLE DOG BED! Even though it's intended for little dogs, my German Shepard *_loves_* squeezing into small spaces (especially under tables and desks), so she'd be over the moon for this~ 💓

I could totally see a big dog squeezing under there and knocking the top off, or opening it on the hinges. Yup, then it just jumps out as you walk in the room. I've seen an Alinois (bout the size of a German Shepard) take over a little cat bed, before.
I honestly thought the dog beds were a running joke up until this episode. Well done lol
Love the Lillipup, and in version 2, please look to include a lock for the underside of the toppers, or a way to keep it from opening due to pressure. If a gate system is involved, that's great on the front face, but also need to make sure the top doesn't open. Great work!
The bolsters around three sides of that bed also need to be cushioned. Dogs tuck into or put their heads on the sides of their beds and that will not be comfortable

+1. I have a toy sized dog (a Havanese) that loves to tuck himself into the small nooks and crannies and when he's napping hard he sleeps in a corkscrew position so half of his body is in the bed while the other half he's hanging out.
Don't flip the rail for the under bevel. The dog will rest their head on the rail, and the bevel on top gives a more natural resting surface for them. Having it be on the bottom might be more functional for a table, giving a wider flat surface area and the cleaner look, but functionally for the dog, I think it's worse. Dogs lay on all sorts of weird positions, it should be made to accomodate for that, not for aesthetic for a regular table.
My concern with the magnetic toppers is that my dog would totally bump into the toppers and potentially knock them up/off when the ups delivery driver suddenly shows up to ~~drop off a package~~ invade the house

The Lillipup is for small dogs , if the dog can bump into the toppers then it is too big for it
My jaw dropped for the coffee table bed. Crazy Ed's a genius
My cats would love the lilput version! Pls no cat hate! An end table version would be nice.
The coffee table version without the mattress would make awesome board game storage. Also think you could get away with a solid topper. You could get the mattress in through the side and it would make the whole thing a bit more robust.
You're gonna want to have approximately 5" of clearance under the bed so Roombas can vacuum under the beds. Robot vacuum heights are in the 4" range. 5" should be good, even if the bed sits on carpeting. It sucks to have pet hair accumulate under... anything. I built my dog's bed 5.5" off the ground.
Tried out several dog beds for my pit bull. He currently has three spread around the house, but really only uses one: the old memory foam topper from my bed. We cut it down to dog bed size, and its about 3" thick. He hates the dog bed with the egg crate foam in it, even after flipping it over so the pointy bits are pointed down. It's by far his least favorite.
@VagabondTE

Could be the memory foam.. Though it could also be your scent. I use dirty t-shirts to get cats to nap and hang out where I want them to. Its also really helpful when I get a new kitten and I want to build trust.

Lol, my dog prefers the eggshell, only rarely goes to the memory foam.
The Wrymwood Dog Cave is here!
Every episode of Wyrmlife should have Ed blowing something up!
I feel like if Crazy Ed had been born a few hundred years earlier we'd be calling people 'Ed' instead of 'DaVinci'.
Why don’t you talk to a few veterinarians, who know much more about dogs than the average person?
The best kind of mattress for large dogs especially, is a cut down foam mattress made for people. A 100lbs.+ dog will wear out a standard dog bed in short order as they're really not designed well to take that kind of weight for an extended period of time.
Crazy Ed killing it again.
Love the coffee table idea! You could do that as your 'prophecy' of Dog Beds and then the standalone bed could be in various sizes for those of us with bigger puppers!
Dude, Crazy Ed needs a raise. Bro's a hell of an idea man.
As if my dog wasn't spoiled enough, I'm now going to buy her a $2,000 dog bed lol
Had... we lost our two yorkies a few months ago due to kidney failure :-( watching this reminded me of them and how much I miss them. This would've been an absolute need for me if they were still here. If we get dogs again this is on my list for sure.
100% love the coffee table bed, would be perfect for my cats. Might be going too far but how about a removable tray underneath the topper so you could use it for storage and still pull the tray out to give you access for the bed? Also as much as you're hating on cats you're missing out on a massive market by not making a smaller version alongside for cat owners!
I love that Wyrmwood is developing this amazing product. I have a Beagle and my only observation about the current iteration of the bed is that my doggo likes to slump against something when he lays down. I know a lot of dogs will sleep in a neat and tidy oval centered on a mattress, but my dog definitely likes to slump against something and stretch out which means he would probably find the current inside walls uncomfortable. Just a little feedback :). The beds are really looking fantastic! The coffee table/bed with the option of converting to a kennel for the day is just brilliant. By the way Crazy Ed is a Wyrmwood Icon. :) Cheers, I hope everyone is well and I will see you all next episode! Cheers!
I love the lillipup, especially if there is a kennel attachment. And there needs to be more cushioning on the top of the normal dog bed. All my dogs love to rest their heads on the edge of the bed.
So that explains the intro with the cat XD I don't have a dog, but I do agree that the coffee table+dog bed combo is a great idea! Looking forward to seeing version 2 next!
Crazy Ed's "Lilliput Ur Dog To Bed"
I genuinely love the dog bed liliput
I LOVE the Lillipup. I would definitely get one for my ca- er... my dog. Yes. Dog.
Again, I love this. Seeing the process of prototyping and product revisions makes me smile. Also love how you all are putting your designs before a bunch of people and putting their 2 cents on it. Keep it up guys! My cat might actually like the "Lilipup", you might as well put some cat holes to make it cater to cat people or those with smaller animals too~
My dog loves beds with cushion raised edges to rest his head on like a pillow. Having wood railings look real uncomfortable as he sometimes puts his head over the side. Check out the Costco Kirkland large square dog bed and you’ll see the perfect format with half raised cushion, half flat.

Same for my dog. Her favorite spot is actually a hammock-like chair that swoops low and she can rest her chin on the side to look out.
At my old house we had our kennel in the kitchen with a piece of plywood on it and would always use it for extra countertop. I would love to see Ed's table do something like that. A kitchen island dog kennel. I know they are out there but be good to see a WW spin on it.
Wyrmwood would make way more money if they embraced the nerds with cats (there's a lot of us!). Wyrmwood cat towers!!! Do it!!!

Modular cat towers
Doug is the hero of this story. Long live Doug!
Damn fluorescent lights and shutter speeds. Physics strikes again!!
We had Shih-tzus growing up. I'm with many in saying that dogs love to rest their heads on things. Design is important but first and foremost is the client in consideration when designing a product. Bring in some dogs and see how they interact/rest in them.
More videos please and thank you. This content is the strongest content i've ever connected with. I literally wake up hoping a video drops (wed-fri). lol obsessed?
We've got two little dogs (maltipoo and chihuahua) and a big dog (blue heeler), and the little ones love to burrow under blankets - they'd absolutely go right into that lillipad the second it was in the room.
It's always a good episode when there's Josh and Kelli in the episode. Seriously.
@BurntToast256

I love Crazy Ed's bed!
You seriously need to look at cat trees. They're modular by design making them easily sizable with fewer part numbers. Base, screw together posts and platforms. Have a kitten? base, 3 posts and 2 platforms. As the cat grows add 3 more posts and several more platforms, all the way to the ceiling. Also look at window shelves, not only for cats but also plants; pads for cats, hardwood for plants.
The cat exploded when it touched the bed!!! 😂😂🤣
For the coffee table design, make sure there's a physical lock for the table topper so the dog can't push up on the table and knock drinks off!
That coffee table bed would make for a killer litter box storage spot.
Again restating how much i love engineer you all put into a dog bed
Honestly my corgis would love that coffee table/bed combo. They love laying in little "caves" like that but like to be close to us.
Dogs spend most of their time hanging their heads over the edges. Make sure they are comfortable to hang your head over. Sounds weird, but I couldn't buy a bed without it being clear the edges are comfortable.
Ive got an old black lab we rescued named Grimm. he is an absolute sweetheart.
Crazy Ed is a genius.

I have a Silken Windhound. I love the lillapup (sp?) concept. When I saw it though I wished it didn’t have sides but could still have the kennel add ons. Looking forward to see what the final design is.
Not only could it work as a kennel. But you can have an option for a solid piece of wood with a hole in it to make it a cat play area. In fact I would make both the front and back modular with different options. Open , kennel lattice, and plank with cat hole.
Love this series, love the peeps behind all these videos, and it's my eventual goal to buy all of these guys a beer some day.
I love the idea of having more Wyrmwood furniture 👀👍🏼
I am totally going to get one of the lillipups for our cats. Love everything about the idea
The editing was top tier this video
The lillipad was a great idea, but you might want some way to lock the table part shut so that a dog doesn't tip it open from underneath.
Just tossing this out there, but take a look at cooling pet beds. That might fix all of your bedding issues as you can have that made to size fairly easily, and they are super comfy for dogs.
The frequency of the lights in that room imperfectly resonating with the framerate of the camera is kind of interesting haha 😂 I spent too long looking at that and missed what they were saying
I like the idea of the coffee table pet bed, there needs to be a way to lock the top from opening so the dog cant try to pop his head up through and then get stuck on the way down
I got 3 Mastiff/GSD mixes (ranging from 100lbs to 160lbs), a purebred English Mastiff (135lbs), and a GSD/Collie mix (around 45-50lbs). They collectively take up a Queen sized bed. But yeah, Purple does make dog beds. So if you want to get them you can.
The dog bed/coffee table combo is genius!
Lillipup is an awesome idea. Coffee table/ dog bed would be awesome for our Dachshund.
“Does the egg crating make it orthographic?” that’s a woodworker right there, never change Doug. Btw, it actually makes it isometric
The coffee table/bed/kennel is such a simple yet creative spin, love it. Is a dog bed with very strong and clear USP's since version 1. I suggest trying a pet calming pillow in your research.
I have a border collie who likes to sleep under my desk while I work. A large version of the coffee table bed would be super hot fire
We have a dachshund, a black lab, and a tabby cat. The two small animals would love the lillipup. The lab refuses to ever put her entire body into any bed she's ever had. She always sticks at least her head and front paws off, so i have no idea how she would take to one of these.

I was just thinking how much...CATS (gasp) would love the lillipup, too.
I'd actually kill for a bigger version of the lillipad. The regular dog bed idea feels like all that I'm getting is a frame with no function (which obviously some people will want) but the Lillipad gives my boi a comfy den to sit in and a space for us people to put some stuff on. I'd note though that its imperative to ensure that nothing can spill through the top into the bottom (and maybe even a way to lock the top so a dog hitting it's head won't throw everything everywhere) -- last thing anyone would want is to knock over hot coffee and burn a pupper resting underneath.
Thanks to Wyrmwood and specifically Doug, I now refer to everything as “bad Larry” including my dogs and girlfriend.
My sister has a ~27 lb aussie/dingo/thing that gets scared by loud noises (including clapping) that loves to curl up under tables. Lillipup is straight up her alley.
As sacrilegious as it may be... I'd like one for my cats. The coffee table one especially, since they're always hanging out under ours already.
@VagabondTE
2 жыл бұрын
LOL, same. I'm calling it the Litl-kitten just to spite Doug. My cat crawls up underneath our coffee table as well. The bottom is a wall but he can crawl up and inside to a large cavity underneath. He will then mercilessly attack my feet. Pets want to be near their owners and a coffee table area is a good way to do that.
"Fat Sam's Available." Best news I've heard all week!
With the Lillipup maybe have more open sides or acrylic walls so you can see puppy from more angles in the room
If you're going the coffee table route, also may end table kennels. I've seen poor versions of those and good ones would be a huge market. I've got a Black Labrador and would be interested in a large coffee table bed.
The thinner dog bed sounds nice. Kind of like a dog sized dice tray.
The lilipup reminds me of those nightstands that double as dog crates :)
I've got a pom and she is my muddy little princess. I'm all for this! GIB!
Coffee table kennel would need a way to secure the lid or some dogs will figure this out... under the overhang latch so hidden but functional? Also might want to explore water proofing options if dog could be expected to be locked into for a while and you know puppies
I have a whippet. And although I like the kennel grate idea, it’s a tricky sell with the toppers if there is t a way to lock them in place. Some dogs will DESTROY things to escape a kennel.
I love the Lillipup! Also I have a 1 year old Rat Terrier that would so live in that thing if he could
Ok if they keep going the home route I 100% think that butcher block toppers and or just a thick ol cutting board would be awesome. I'm really starting to see through this process just having 1/3 of all home stuff can be Wyrmwood. If they ever made bed frames son they would be killing the game. Side note hexagonal dice tower with additional tops to add is still wanted 👀
I’ve got an 8 month husky named Ahsoka and I have a hunch she’ll be getting a Wyrmwood dog bed. I hope the XL beds are big enough
I'm in for the large MGT size dog kennelbedtable.
My 80lbs pit has a Kong mattress and can't mess it up we love it Don't lower the sides raise the lower section to have more outside leg.
Got a 15 pound Havanese/Maltese rescue. She'll sleep on anything on the floor... jackets, towels, boxes from Costco.
I have a Newfoundland (who was featured in a Wyrmwood intro!), and I don’t expect you’ll make a bed large enough for him.
I'd get the dog bed coffee table. Sure, it'd be for my cat. But I'll take one in Cherry please. Take my money.
Not only do I love the the coffee table bed because I think it would be great for cats.. but I'm gonna call it the Lili-Kitt just to spite Doug.
Having a chocolate lab thats just hit the ten years old mark, I gotta say I'm intrigued by the coffee table dog bed idea, however that's not at all big enough for her. Find a way to use mtg sized parts to make the Lillipup line in all 3 sizes. You'd be surprised who buys them even as just storage for blankets, bedding materials for kids' sleepovers, ger gear, etc. Sure, it's a dogbed table first, but there's what something is made for and what it can be used for. Man, I'm on layoff with the union and considering a move to Mass or Penn now... Wyrmwood just seems like a fun place to earn a living.
OMG if that dog bed is a coffee table AND i can crate them in it!!!! IM IN!
I have 2 Miniature Dachshunds, they love to feel cozy, and I think they'd appreciate a Lillipup while we're playing card games (we love one called Astronauts) overhead, but there's no way the RSPCA or American equivalent would sanction a Lillipup dog crate with a grille to secure a dog in - there's not enough head height for one. Love the idea though :)
The dog bed + coffee table is lowkey genius. I might make one for my dog
Sweet. But you really really need to make ventilation in the wood under the matress. Unless you want to breed funghi.
End table and sofa table dog beds are a thing as well. I'd be totally in the market for that with my medium size dog, who is too big for the lillipad. It would also be nice to have a crating option that looks stylish, cause sometimes you just have to put the lock down on your pup, and rusty metal shit shows are not what you want, ever.
I like the geometric look. The problem with a lot of dog beds is that they don't look good with other furniture. Make it look good, and BE comfy. I also wonder if, with that long piece, the personalization piece couldn't be a little bigger? Like an oval? It would show a name better from across the room. Also: The lillipup is great. I bet my mom could use one, especially with a kennel door, for the nasty mini poodle whose kennel is an eyesore in the family room.
If you make the coffee table bed, I am so buying one for my daughter.....awesome
