It's difficult to understand how a person can get satisfaction over upending someone else's life because he didn't get what he wanted. Had he decided to take the high road by defending your low impact lifestyle and tiny footprint, it's possible he could have helped himself as well. Very well said. The nicer, less-profane way I've tried to phrase/see it all. I simply can't imagine throwing a wrench into a total stranger's life, budget, plans, finances, etc. because I didn't get something I wanted. The aptly-named neighbor could've approached this in at least a half-dozen different ways that wouldn't be putting Adelina in this situation, and may even helped the neighbor get what he ultimately wanted. Flying off the handle, in petulant anger (I wrote the book) never helps/leads to anything good, trust me. So I really try to not be that guy anymore, as I admittedly have been in years past. I enjoy this channel very much and feel part of her journey on this stuff, after watching/commenting for two-plus years, so she's someone I only want the best/good things for because I know she has a vision and hopes/plans, and stupid stuff like this isn't helping one bit.

So sorry you are going through this. Im 76, and after a stroke (im fine now) I moved near a daughter to a small SE Alaskan island from Seattle and a home I lived in for 38 years in 2015 March. Here they would not allow tiny house on a lot with wheels, Ok without. Many places are way behind the times of what people are choosing for their homes, young and old alike. It so frustrating. Long story, but I gave up plans for tiny house. We cleared daughters back yard, and built a 315 sq ft inter-shelter Dome I had shipped from Juneau. Ive been living here for 5 years and love it. It’s not my dream tiny house ( I vicariously get to live in your beautifully built home) but its all good. I’d attach a picture, but don’t know how. Good luck to you on this next adventure in life! Personally, Id opt for the Sunshine Coast, it sounds lovely and a sure deal for the tiny house. ❤

Look on the bright side--you were not settled in all the way and you will be away from that tattle-tale neighbor . The landlord had to have known something about the zoning law. You seem like a very strong person. I was in a situation years ago over a housing issue where I had to move in a hurry, It turned out to be a blessing in the long run. The problem with “government” is that they make things so dang complicated for their citizens, not to mention the folks that do not even understand the laws that they are hired to enforce, no one knows how to take the tyrants on? Folks need to band together and demand the people that they elect, start back at square one and simplify everything!

Hopefully, this will be a case of "one door closes, another opens" and the new opening is better than you might have dreamt ... still, the uncertainty and stress of past months and until you get resettled has to be very challenging. I could be wrong but I think part of the appeal of the tiny house for Adelina is that she can move it where she wants, when she wants. While I agree with your logic, buying land would defeat that purpose for her. This is an unexpected and heartbreaking turn of events for her, but I am certain she will land on her feet.

I have always found, just as you said, that there’s always one person that is miserable enough to try and ruin things for others. It’s a shame with what’s happening with housing everywhere that people become so vested in their small roles that they can’t decided these things on a case by case basis and rely on these rules that were written who knows when. You have now been presented a situation whereby you have followed all the recognized necessities to be able to live an alternative affordable housing option with the correct certifications & standards, and have come up against a wall of bureaucratic unknowns - “unknown” by way of the municipalities & province have yet to catch up & formalize. If anyone could be used as a recognizable good tiny house citizen it’s yourself. I will be watching closely as I consider you a maverick in true tiny house living. I’ve watched this video a couple of times and I’m so appreciative of you putting this nasty situation out there for others. In recent weeks here in southern Ontario there have been headlines involving shady landlords of rv parks that assured tiny home owners they were welcome to live year round at their site and that all bylaws had been met. Much like your home, these are gorgeous tiny homes and good people who now must scramble to find a new spot somewhere by the end of April. I don’t think I could handle such stress with your grace and having followed you now for sometime I know you’ve relocated again to a beautiful spot but my goodness - how disheartening. Rules are rules and there there to keep everyone safe. It’s your job to familiarize yourself with the rules/ laws or hire someone that is licensed or familiar with the project and its requirements. The city codes are needed to regulate all housing project to protect you , the neighborhood and the environment. Good luck.

We are so backwards here in Canada when it comes to tiny homes, it’s ridiculous. The price of traditional homes and rents are outrageous and unaffordable for most. Is it possible to get your old spot back? You’d be closer to you sons and not in a position to have to move bc someone complains. In Canada, I’d be concerned about moving a tiny anywhere unless it’s an approved village- because who knows where bylaw will show up again. I’m so sorry that this has happened, it takes one jerk to start the ball rolling- thanks Dick!

Unfortunately, this problem is everywhere, not just Canada. I get messages from all over the world from people struggling with the same thing. Things will change because the movement is just getting bigger, unfortunately that change will be slow and painful. There are legal options in Canada but they are still not very abundant.

Politics and bureaucracy, got to love em🙄 I tend to see these negative, adverse, difficult times as a chance to learn and grow. It's happening for a reason. It will lead you to a better 'spot'. 💕keep your chin up, BC is beautiful and I'm sure your furkid will love it just as much as my 5 felines and I do😊❤😻

The Lord has found something even better and you have options! The county is enforcing regulations they are not prepared for. They could have told the other person, no. When you started out your video, I had 2 HUGE fears.. having to move or Sofie.. I'm crushed and have a mixture of emotions. The reason for the move is absolutely ridiculous, petty and infuriating. I'm assuming there is no legal parking on the big island since you are looking at other island options. Know that you are always being given massive hugs of encouragement and strength, especially now. I admire you, your resilience, independence, determination & strength. Karma is real, and this 'neighbor' will not escape the circle of fate down the road in their lives.

This is so heartbreaking! I live in a community where homelessness is increasing daily. It seems so unfair that we are pigeon holed into living life by someone else’s terms. I do wish you well and hope that your next spot proves it was all meant to be. Many blessings🙏

This is devastating news! I can't see a way that you could have foreseen this happening. The expense and disruption is enormous. I really admire your strength and positive expression of this news. It's the trailer hitch that totally confuses the whole situation. Sorry your leaving the spot, your landlord was super nice to venture out with you. Your new spot is going to be awesome, can't wait!!! I'm going this direction, tiny home, in the states. I am researching my state today. Imm sure the snitches are watching behind their curtains satisfied.

Thank you for posting your events, as sad as they are. It's informative, you're teaching us all out here processes (since the beginning!) of tiny house living, that other channels just don't cover. After you get settled in your new spot, you need to write a book. I'd be the first to buy!! I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and God brings good out of bad situations. It's a shame this person harmed you, out of his own anger or whatever. I pray that your next spot not have any of these issues (as you spoke about one possibility), and that you can settle for a few years until you own your own land ... which BTW, you now know what to check into when you do purchase land, etc. God bless you and Happy Easter tomorrow. I'll be watching intently for future updates on this. I live in AZ, USA btw. We even have hiccups out here. I have a mobile, on my own land, and county jurisdictions are so great here (basically not many!), but the city next door likes to interfere with county goings on. They fined me $600 when I replaced my single wide (it burned down), with a double, over the electric pole, that had already been approved by the county, who actually had jurisdiction. They just wanted to fine and get the $$.

Yep, I felt pretty sorry for my self at first. It's still something that creeps in but I need to keep focused forward and stay positive.

Although it is a big inconvenience for you to have gone through this, on the bright side, I am thinking that maybe a better and nicer place is waiting for you. Wish I had a land where you can stay. It would be amaizing to be neighbours. Best of luck in your searches.

So sorry such a kind person as you is going through this. The county rules have reinforced a petty bully who rather than choosing to advocate for change for the benefit of all; decided “if I can’t have it, you can’t either”. A kindergarten teacher would expect more. I hope you’re reading this nasty neighbour…I hope you’re pleased to know that your legacy is cruelty to several neighbours who were living peacefully. There is a special place in hell for people like you. And county - when will common sense and ethics start to play into decisions like this?

That's crazy! With all the thousands of people living in tents on the sidewalks and in broken down RVs along the city streets...and no one seems to be stopping them, yet you are doing everything right.

Sorry to hear about your situation Adelina, that's such a blow - I thought that tiny house living was easier in Canada but I guess not... I'm part way through building a tiny house here in England and I also have to move my tiny house due to the local authorities... Thank you for sharing your story, I hope it's the start of a lovely new location elsewhere!
