Cody Garbrandt And Maddux Maple Speak On The Book, "The Pact"

Cody Garbrandt grew up in a rough town in the Central Appalachian region of Ohio, surrounded by a longstanding culture of fighting-and drugs. Thankfully, Garbrandt had visions of something more. His American Dream? Mixed Martial Arts. But a path to success wasn’t clear. He spent as much time fighting in the streets as he did in the gym-one bad decision away from losing everything. Then, at age 20, Garbrandt's brother introduced him to five-year-old Maddux Maple. Maple was deathly ill with leukemia, his survival by no means assured. A unique friendship developed as they made a promise to each other: Maple would beat cancer, and Garbrandt would make it to the UFC and become world champion. In December 2016, they made good on their pact: Garbrandt won his UFC Championship belt, which he promptly presented to Maple-the boy who had beaten cancer into remission. Garbrandt's new book, "The Pact," chronicles the long years of pain and hardship that they persevered through to reach their goals.

You know the media puts out there what they think the public wants , and they’ve portrayed Colby as this hot headed jerk but listening to him and hearing what’s important to him gave me a whole different look and respect for this cat he’s seems down to earth and a really decent dude. What a class act Cody is. His bio brought tears to my eyes. Chemo and radiation will knock you to your knees, like a bunch from World Champion Cody. Today I want to live. Support the people you love. Buy the book.

I'm Scottish and I'm a Glaswegian and dont suffer fools gladly. Garbrandt was one of these fools arrogant over confident dismissive of his opponents his mindset better than his abilities I was glad to see him get beat . I have just now watched these videos of Garbrandt with his wee pal who has battled cancer for years and I have to now take a long hard look at myself and apologise to Garbrandt and say sorry I'm sorry for judging a book by its cover I'm sorry for dismissing you for your apparent arrogance and apologise for not knowing your motivations. I would like to commend you for your selfless support towards this young boy and to say it's a travesty that it's not common knowledge for what you have done for this young boy. I hope he keeps on fighting and living a love filled life and with your help I'm sure he will. Please accept my apologies and to say Scotland sends its regards
