    Criticism of Gaga? Clever title if you want to get hits. But if people came here looking for reasons to dislike Lady Gaga, they're going to be disappointed. She's not really being criticised, so much as she is being used as an example of someone who does not know why the word feminism is used (not to exclude, but to highlight the examples of inequality.) What is said here is actually a proactive statement, I think. I don't think it sounds critical at all.

    1:48 what Bianca says is so true. I've a 2 yr old and 6 yr old daughter(s) and the eldest is starting talk about religion and discusses Jesus etc. Whilst I personally don't believe in any of it myself, I don't tell my daughter this as I want her to find her own views and beliefs, but one of the reasons I'm not keen on the idea is because I feel the same as what bianca states and I feel a lot of religion has been created, scribed etc with a heavy leaning towards male dominance. I'm trying to raise both my girls with a clear knowledge that they don't need anyone to provide for them, to make them dependant etc. They can get what they want theirselves, and I hope they will grow to be strong independent women who will know that it can be wonderful to have the love and companionship of a partner etc, but they don't need to be dependant on anyone financially etc as what is important can't be bought. No matter, I'm already a very proud father of both my girls.......

    I don't understand how her making money is relevant to the situation. Yes, she makes money. Yes she has power. But she is actually using her fame to show support for equality for all humans. I don't understand when people explain she is exploiting causes to gain fame. Supporting something - not matter what - is her own matter and opinions.Don't believe? then don't. It doesn't matter if you accept her support, she has the right on having her own opinions

    Lady Gaga considers herself a feminist because she believes in the equality between men and women, just like all other non-radical feminists. The quote "I'm not a feminist, I love men" was taken many years ago, and has for some reason arisen recently. Since then her opinions have changed clearly, and she has shown great support for women's rights (not in favor of her image, but because she's actually doing something with her fame).

    Then she defines feminism as being about the celebration of the feminine. So if we had ticker tape parades just for women, that would be feminism. So much for equality. No. We're just going to start 'celebrating the feminine'. Other feminists, CocoRosie seems to think that your 'equality' definition is a load of crap. I am inclined to agree with her.

    Feminism is NOT hatred dude-o. Like anything else in the world, you'll have your extremists, and feminist extremists are the misandrists (those who hate men). Feminism itself does not encourage misandry. A feminist is someone who believes in gender equality; there's a lot of masculine ideals right now & many of them are far from being fair for all, hence why the term "feminism". Bringing a bit more femininity to the way the world thinks to balance everything out.

Through the years, she followed every possible path, she proclaimed herself Buddhist, jewish, she practically pleased everyone offending everyone...

    In my opinion Gaga isn't sure about the true concept of it, she considers it somewhere between feminism and homosexuality; and, if I'm not mistaking, she gives a rather big importance to sexual energy not understanding it doesn't make a change. OR she was just aiming at a certain mass in the world to get some money and then disappear step by step. Honestly, I never saw much devotion coming from her and I had a friend who constantly kept talking to me about her work

    ...Gaga is still not dong this but she is a Madonna clone in so many ways that it is predictable she will too, although, I find her smarter and a million times more talented than Madonna is. But this simple fact doesn't change the reality: she gives a distorted idea of what freedom is, for a woman, and she's aware of doing that. That is where money plays some role. These girl up here have radical ideas I do not entirely share - but they are really committed to something. I deeply doubt Gaga is.

    That's bogus. The only difference between modern feminism and feminist movements in the past is that it also deals with the concepts of "femininity" and "masculinity", taking the position that women who are more "masculine" should not feel pressured by society to "feminize" themselves, and that men who are more "feminine" shouldn't have to change either. Its about not forcing anybody to be what they aren't because of gender binaries. (though if you happen to fit into a traditional conception of gender, that's just fine. Be that.) Its all about individuality. But this is just a single new element that seems to float around the movement. The focus is still basically just equality for both sexes (and intersexed people) socially and under law. (Self-Identified feminists today also talk about how men are discriminated against in child courts after divorce and other ways that they face sexism. Its just the people who have to deal with sexism the most are generally women and that the movement started out to get women the right to property and vote. That's why feminists focus more on women issues.) Those people who promote nurturing thoughts are often conservative mothers who are themselves very feminine who think society should cater to children (and who, by the way, are very unlikely to identify as feminists.)

    Fincher Schlaue And celebrating femininity like she said is in no way a negative thing. Its not about make everything feminine. Its about respecting and appreciating the individuals who are, and seeing value in their femininity as we do in the masculinity of others. If respect for different kinds of people changes society, its doing it for good.

    I love the music they make, but I don't buy anything they say. They realized to make an impact in the music industry (to make money) they would have to sound STRANGE, from another planet. They took Bjork's "I grew up in a forest, no conventional tv, music etc..and made my own sounds" and made it into the North American version. "We don't watch tv or listen to music, we're crushing on each other." Really? Then how do you know Lady Gaga said X,Y or Z? I certainly don't know what Gaga says. They slip up every so often and completely contradict themselves. Every action, everything out of their mouths is so controlled and calculated. They're lucky to be pretty enough to make themselves into "freaks" and still be attractive. They wouldn't do it otherwise.

  • @meaganjmc

    @meaganjmc

    8 жыл бұрын

    +keeeton This is a stupid assumption to make. Do you think Cocorosie is making so much money off their music that it's why they do it? They aren't Lady Gaga rolling in cash. There are tons of "weird" bands and just because one reaches some semblance of recognition doesn't mean that was their motivator especially considering typically "weird" bands don't reach any sort of recognition. How can you use their knowledge of something Lady Gaga has said as an example of them being contradictory? It's not difficult to hear from others or in the outside world about things big celebrities have done or said. Most importantly is as feminists it's SUPER easy to hear from others about anti-feminist comments made in pop culture. "They're lucky to be pretty enough to make themselves into "freaks" and still be attractive". If ever there was an example of someone exemplifying what they are not about, it would be you ending your comment with this. Does this matter to you? Would you think they were not contradictory and were genuine feminists if they WERE'NT attractive?

  • @keeeton

    @keeeton

    8 жыл бұрын

    +meaganjmc No, I think they wouldn't be popular enough for you to know about them. You might want to do research on "attractive vs. unattractive impact on money making." You miss the whole point and want to turn this into a feminist issue. Maybe you should read Susan Faludi's Backlash before you judge my opinion as "stupid." Why, because my my OPINION doesn't match yours I'm stupid? Way to go Ms. Liberal. Watch their other videos where they get asked what they're into right now, what music, what books... They reply that they don't listen to music or read books they're just crushing on each other right now. And don't talk to be about tons of "weird" bands and reaching recognition, I have a punk record label. Real punk, not Green Day. I work with artist who don't get "normal" recognition for what they do. And I promise you, they don't know what the fuck Gaga has said. Anti-feminist statements, anti-punk statements or not. It doesn't register to people who truly are different instead of TRYING to be so radical and different. So before you call another female stupid for having an opinion, maybe realize you're what's wrong with mainstream thinking today. No one else is allowed a different opinion. My opinions are mine alone, I don't need validation from you or a crew to feel right in my convictions. And I certainly don't go on KZread to bash someone about their opinion about people I'VE NEVER MET. "Does this matter to you?"????

  • @meaganjmc

    @meaganjmc

    8 жыл бұрын

    It's really funny to me that me disagreeing with what you said, is me telling you not to have an opinion somehow. "No one else is allowed a different opinion" well according to your reaction that's how YOU feel. You're examples of them being hypocrites make no sense. It's like you're saying, Cocorosie wore red once, therefore they must be hypocrites for that time they said they were colorblind. Like what are you talking about haha. How is them being able to have learned about something Lady Gaga said contradicting that they don't listen to music or read books? You know everyone's life experiences are different and just because YOU don't come in contact with Lady Gaga quotes (cause you're so SO punk) doesn't mean no one else in the world will never happen upon something related to her. Not to mention how sometimes in conversations, people use dramatization to get a point across. I.E. Just because they say they don't read books probably doesn't mean they've never read a book before... Also, lol you so cool anti-Green Day. Please tell me more about how punk you are. That makes no sense either like just because you know artists who don't know who Lady Gaga is means no one who acts "weird" in a band should know? I'm legitimately cringing at some stuff you said.

    +keeeton You know you are both (+meaganjmc) to a degree right with your views and opinions, but what we must all take into serious consideration is how we have all (the entire World) been sucked into this insanely purposely created obsessive and subconscious desire to become famous and rich. Even if a musician of any form of creative-thinking and expressing individual gets "Noticed" by the hidden from public scrutiny parasites who totally own and control the entire major music/art/celebrity industry and are offered untold wealth, that individual would more often than not take it because if they don't, they same parasites would probably do everything n their power (which is frightening) to destroy them. My point being: We are ALL being subconsciously controlled by Jewish-named lying/ deceiving and psychopathic controlling individuals... FACT!! We have all been born into a LIE and are ALL living one and no mater that yo ma "THINK" you are free... you are NOT... Let the uniqueness of the individual's talent shine unabated... :-)
