Cockles Harvesting and Processing - Cockles Canned Production Process in Factory
Ғылым және технология
How to Harvest Cockles. The cockle is a bivalve in the mollusk family that many coastal fisherman rely on for food and to earn a living. With over 200 species of cockles--which look similar to the oyster--fisherman around the world harvest thousands per day.The majority of the cockle harvest happens on the coastal areas in Latin America and western Europe--mainly England.Realize the best time to harvest cockles is at low tide. Cockles stay in shallow water to feed and when the tide recedes, they burrow a few inches under the sand. In a muddy area, the cockles are under a few inches of mud and must be dug out using special tools or your hand.

Human is very good at making things to extract every single bit of resource we can get out hands-on. I wonder if the earth will still have anything left in 100 years.

@@joblessdude381 it is just because they can't sell or make much money of the small one. If the small one is more valuable, do you think they will let it go?

I guess it will farmed food left and wild species extinct.
Can't say that I'm a big fan of the commercial harvesting & canning of any shell fish. Thankfully for us the cockles we choose to eat are freshly hand picked. From gathering to preparation they are cooked & enjoyed without them even seeing a can. Bon appetite!

Hello 👋...my whole family loves to watch your posts on the TV. We all learn so much about different foods and things we don't know.
This reminds me of my childhood and going to the sea to collect cockles, the only time I enjoy being there.
Excellent. Informative 👍👍👍. Thank you for sharing. Take care of yourself, be safe, and healthy 🇨🇦
The. Volumic amount of empty shells can be ground to powder to be used as neutralizing agent or as a source of minerals or can be disposed back to the cultured areas for the availability of developing components for the cockles

Does the steam cooking also separate the meat, the animal itself, from the shell? If so, that's different than clams or oysters isn't it?
I wondered how they separate core and the sell massively. Is it by automatically without hand of human?
Lovely 😍

Some processes are proprietary to companies and they don't want the competition to find out how they do it
Cockles and Mussels, alive, alive, 'oh
