Was wondering if possible. Could you tell me the name of your cage?, looking at buying a new one like that.

ALSO just to clarify with the rope toys; you can have rope toys / swings but if you start to see any fraying / damage / loose threads start to appear it’s best to replace it or throw it out !! if your birb ingests the fibre ( we all know how destructive they are !! ) it can block up their stomach & become fatal.

Hey! Im going to pick up my bird next week! And i wanna know what to look for in a bird. Like, imagen standing in front of the cage they're in, watching them. How would i know "hey that's a nice bird!" Do i pick a bird that flies a lot or what? Im not sure! It's my first time owning a bird. I do own a hamster but that's so different! :).

Valentia Pauwels I recommend getting a hand fed birb they are very sweet and trusting (i don’t have experience with this but it took me a year to get my birds semi-tame) but then you know your bird will be sweet and loving.!don’t rush getting a bird it can be. Exciting but trust me its worth the wait to get the right bird for you! Hope this helps!

@@valentiapauwels Yeah this is late but I do suggest getting a tame bird as your first bird. Unfortunately my first bird is a non-hand raised bird (though they said he was) and he stresses me out with constant screaming.

For anyone who wants to keep those flat perches, my dad helped me carve the perches to be more curvy and have more texture, so they still have more textures to explore. (*you should still get more natural branches, it’s just better to not waste it*)

Lucia Pasillas I don’t think I’ll be able to cover that since I’ve always had hand reared cockatiels! Bonding is quite simple- just spend time & affection on your little friend & they’ll become obsessed with you in no time x

Just dont buy a cockatiel in a regular animal store. Get cockatiels that are young. It makes such a difference taming them

@Moon Bird yeah probably but if you buy a bird thays alreadu a couple years old. The older it is the harder it gets. When its 10 years old for instance and ot doesnt like fingers. Good luck making him like fingers

I had the same thing happen. Twice actually and I feel so bad. I was getting so far with taffy and then a water bottle fell on him, he had a clipped wings because i got him from a store. He was doing okay, but a few days later he passed and then I got another bird for laffy (my other bird) and then he passed as well. Now I have bb, and I want to get a cockatiel and make his home better then what it is now.

** IMPORTANT ** A lot of you have been asking where I got my cage from; I got it from a pet store a few years ago so I don't have any links or anything to give you all- I'm terribly sorry ! I suggest checking amazon + just google in general. Also go into cockatiel forums and see what other cages people have for their tiels ! ** Remember the minimal size cage for a Tiel should be 24" long by 18" wide by 24" tall and the larger the cage- the better !!

@@screwcove9739 I live in Australia where Cockatiels are native to so it was a lot easier for me. Make sure you do your research on what trees are safe for cockatiels and then wash with warm water and dry them before using.

Do cockatiels need a cage that has more climbing room ( taller ) or one with more floor space ( wider/longer ) ?

Khalid Hussein Well i got mine for 20€ and i got her at the pet store, since i already have a cage at home. Im not an expert on these things so I’m not quite sure. The lady where i got her from told me that she was just brought in. I hope this helped 😅 if you want to ask me anything else go ahead and ask. 😊 ( shes a cockatiel )

I’m thinking about getting a cockatiel, and obviously they need as much time out the cage than they need inside. But how do you let them out without them pooping everywhere? I noticed that her bird was there beside her the whole time and didn’t poop. So do they not poop often? Or do they know where to poop? Or do you have to train them?

So is it okay if I put a towel or blanket over the cage when it's time for them to sleep for the night or is that not a good idea?

Cool video series would be taking one of the girls for walks feat. the bird harness! :) also how you put that on because ive read its best to train your bird when its really young to get comfortable with the harness idk. We don't have these in any store here in Germany :(

You start by having them step up and then stretch the distance so they start hopping to your hand then flying. It takes small movements and lots of treats and patience😂

Can you tell me where you buy the cockatiel toys? I rescued my bird, He obviously used to belong to someone. he lets me pick him up, but he bites a lot. He's around 3 months old. I found him flying away from a small dog and he bumped into the pool fence. I got worried and jumped out of my patio to get him, or her. really not sure yet what gender it is. can millet be a daily food or is it more like a snack? He practices to fly around in my room, and he still needs to learn how to land right. it's difficult to handle him, I have only had him for a week. I didn't know I would end up taking care of a cockatiel, I usually do my research before buying or adopting a pet. I love him or her it's so cute
