Cobra Speedzone ONE LENGTH Hybrid! SHOULD EVERYONE USE A ONE LENGTH HYBRID?! Since Bryson Dechambeau brought back the one length irons its fair to say they have been a huge hit. now we even have the one length hybrid. should you use a one length hybrid? should everyone use a one length hybrid? should you use a hybrid? what hybrid should you use? what's the best hybrid for mid handicap golfers? in this video compare a cobra speed zone one length hybrid vs cobra speed zone hybrid. the cobra speed zone has just replaced the cobra F9 which was so popular throughout 2019... will the speed zone be the same... lets do it... and lets do it now!

So I decided to throw a One Length hybrid in my bag this year as a bit of an experiment, in place of my 5 iron. I got the F8 on sale. I don't play any other one length clubs. It's... phenomenal. It's ridiculously easy to hit. It looks like a junior club, but it just flies. Gets up, gets down, stops, workable. It's like cheating. Also, around the greens it's like carrying am extra club. So good for hybrid bump and runs with the shorter length. I'm sold!

I’m going to try some ‘one’ length clubs and see how or if it changes my performance on the sim. Right now i can believe as a 16 Hcp moving to ‘one’ length from 6iron through to hybrid could be the way forward. Below 7 i think progressively getting shorter is going to stay.

I game a M2 #4 hybrid. When I need to hit something........it gets the nod. So easy to hit. As far as length goes..........simple, the length should match your height and swing style. I am not a fan of the rails on the bottom. Just something else to get in the way. I am going to rework all of my woods/metals..........I could easily end up with 2 hybrids. Great clubs. All of your testing is great to see. I am making a list of those clubs I want to hit in the cage to compare against. Thanks for all you do.

I watched this video last year, it came up on my feed again today, so I watched it again A couple of years ago when I started playing golf again, after having not played for years, one of the first clubs that I got was a Cobra F8 one length hybrid at 19 degrees, I enjoyed using the club and I was hitting it about 150 metres, however I found that when I updated my irons to a set of Srixon Z585s that I hit the 5 iron (24 degrees) of that set about the same distance, the 5 iron is about an inch longer than the hybrid and about 5 degrees higher in loft, I found it interesting that with those differences I hit both clubs the same distance, it was not what I expected though

i play one length F9 set, and really love it. I don't struggle with regular lengths, though i did hear or read to expect a loss in distance. I don't however have any distance problems, so for me, one length is perfect :) The baffler rails are cool and i think they can definately help avoid mis hits or duff shots. not a fan of the red added into the one length, the logo is really crisp. Definately agree on the carbon breaking, the finish doesn't last long. i don't like the gloss finish.

I play the one length 3 hybrid. It's a great escape club. Playing in Arizona, if you get a little too wayward you are hitting out of the desert. Approach shots on tight holes, it's dead straight. The one drawback I've found is lack of height, so not a great club for holding a green on the fly. It's staying in the bag this year.

Great video! I’d like to see cobra do a Tri-length set of clubs. 4-6 in same length 7-9 in same length then pw,gw & sw in another length. Only because I’ve played with guys who have them and their wedges just go way too high especially into the wind and the extra club speed needed in the longer irons isn’t always easy to get with the shorter shaft if you’re having an off day. But I do love the concept and the idea

Bottom line is to consider the SL hybrids as an iron replacement, not a rescue club / fairway wood . The trajectory is in between a iron and hybrid and slightly less distance ( 5-10 m for me) . However when it comes to hitting greens, shaping shots, bump and run from difficult lies and chipping from just off the green, these SL hybrids are great. The trick is to play the ball in the middle of your stance and hit down with them, not sweep the ball off the deck, as with longer shafted hybrids. If you sweep you will get a very low penetrating fade ball flight ( can be useful in wind). I tried them for 6 months ( 19, 22,25 degree) and found at my swing speed ( 90 mph Driver) the carry distance between the 22 and 19 was about the same, but in winter I wasn't getting the roll out with the 19 to make it worth carrying both. The 25 was pretty reliable distance wise. In the end I kept the F9 19 degree because I used it so much for punch shots. It is also useful off the tee into wind. It is my go to club for poor lies, ball above/ below feet.

What was the Decent Angle? When Mark Crossfield (who WAS able to get his hands on one) tested them, his opinion was that the one-length was going to be harder to stop on the green, since the peak height was much lower than the standard model, and decent angle was flatter. Taking it out onto the course to check this is a MUST. 😉

I'd like to know the answer to this too. I need a 4 hybrid to match my cleveland launcher hb turbo irons which have a super high launch angle... And therefore a a steep decent angle and serious stopping power. Only around 3-5 yards roll, so if you hit a green, you are staying there.

Just looking at the smash factors / efficiency, James is very efficient but even so the one length if we ignored the ropey shot was 0.1 better. Mid handicap players will benefit purely on this alone. They might get a std club out further but a one length would yes be ultimately shorter but far more consistent. Given a hybrid is about fitting in a space in you bag distances, overall consistency is a big seller ... just need to work out what loft I need to give me my required yardage!

The one length irons use weighting and loft adjustment to accomplish the correct distances, but here they seem to have simply cut it down so it lost both height and distance. You have to transfer over to longer shafts someplace anyhow so might as well do it here instead. I am going to say your gapping will make this decision for you so try both.

What would be wrong with cutting the clubs I have down? Other than resale.

I’d like to see them perform out of fairway bunkers and a bit of rough, I always reach for my 3 wood

So is the base head just heavier or is the swing weight much lighter?

Hi James I've gamed the one length F9 hybrids 3,4 and 5 and one thing that puzzles me is I hit them all the same distance? To make sure it wasn't just the way I hit them I got someone from the golf shop where I bought them to hit them and he found the same thing? I also got a mate who plays off 7 to hit them and again they all wnet the same distance? You should see if you can get your hands on a full set to see the difference between them.

@@kourt2469 not sure how to take your reply, is it pointed at me that I'm not good enough to use these clubs? Pretty much all the same carry and total distance and that goes for the other 2 guys that tried them too but there swing speeds are much higher than mine.

I've used one length Irons 3-lob wedge for about 2 years now....I hated the hybrids.

The lesser distance/ball-speed of the one-length is a pure consequence of its shorter length i.e. entirely expected (like comparing a 7 iron with a 5 iron!) The main advantage of the one-length is for mid-handicappers who appreciate the extra control ... not pro golfers :)

It would be a bit weird to have a set of “none length” irons and one of the one-length hybrids in the bag that had a shorter shaft than your 6 iron upwards...

I dont think it would be that hard. I use to game a 4 hybrid that was 38.5 inches rather than the stock 40 inches. It was a great club and more consistent on distance control.
