    I wouldn't say muira has ever felt soft. They actually have a firm feel that's incredibly solid. It just feels compact and almost like a high end maple wood bat vs a basic ash. If you've ever played wood bat baseball it's the best comparison I can think of. There's a density of muira that is firm but exceptionally pleasing. They make the absolute best wedges period for feel.

    I was hoping something like this would be released from cobra. These provide a good option for a combo set with the Forged Tec. Could have Forged Tec in 4,5,6; King Mem tour in 7-pw ... for example. Maybe have Forged Tec in 7 iron as well. I like the Forged Tec ... but maybe prefer the smaller, more players look in the shorter irons. The Forged Tec might be a bit chunky for me in the 8-pw.

    While I get not trying to have mishits skew the performance data, I wouldn’t mind a little add on section maybe called Forgiveness Considerations that show how the clubs reacted on mishits. I find it helpful to know the type of distance penalty or when you guys would talk about not perfect strikes and see how they performed. Hearing whoever is testing saying a strike was a bit toey or heely thin or fat and us seeing if it still got to the green and what portion was of benefit in my opinion. I know you all are much better golfers than I am, but I could video my swing for you to emulate for mishits. Let me know. I will be standing by. 😅

    @@user-fn3zh8nw4f Thats great to hear! I got my set of Mims and WOW...! Best set I’ve used. My 4/5 iron are now my favorite to hit.. never thought I’d say that. Even decided to drop the 3 since I rarely used to hit it but with how amazing I hit the 4, I think I will get a 3 if I can manage to get the same shaft as my set (nippon 120). Only thing that has taken adjusting is the size of the grips! I use to play standard tour velvet. The Mims I went with the standard Lamkin, which must be a +1/+2 in the tour velvet. The difference in grip sizes means I’m now so much more easily able to make the ball go left.. where I never saw a left ball with my last set. It makes my confidence so much lower and not sure if I should resift the set to the tour velvet standard to get more feel. I don’t seem to have an issue with the long irons .. it’s mainly P-8 that I struggle to lose right sometimes.

    The Secret of MIM.

  • @erikjoven2388
    @erikjoven23883 жыл бұрын

    So i've got some experience in MIM products industrially (gears, etc.) - and im trying to figure out what parts of the head are actually metal injection molded - is it just the face? Because the whole head being metal injection molded isn't very practical. For example - i dont think i would WANT an injection molded hosel. Keep in mind metal formed by MIM cannot bend or flex at all - it is brittle - it cracks under strain. SO i really wonder here - is the whole iron head supposedly a MIM form? or just certain parts of it like the face or something?

    On the Cobra website they make a big thing about the wedges being 100% injection moulded, but they don't mention it at all on the irons page so I think you might be correct.

    Maybe a little - but not much. It comes down to plastic and elastic deformation. Powdered metal parts(MIM) at the microscopic level, are kind of like a sugar cube where as soft solid metals are more like bubble gum. You can stretch and bend the gum and solid metal, but the sugar cube just and powdered metal parts fracture and break apart if you apply too much stress. Will MIM parts of the club see forces that can break them apart, probably not - but the fact that they cant really inherently flex - and whether that even matters - is where the question of "feel" gets interesting! I can't wait to try them out!

    @@erikjoven2388 I’m vaguely familiar with the manufacturing process & metallurgy. If I remember correctly, MIM just uses heat to bond the grains together, correct? I would think if some pressure was introduced it could create a stronger & more “flexible” bond. Though idk how one would go about that process.

  • @mikepardo9976
    @mikepardo99763 жыл бұрын

    It's pronounced "Mim" It stands for Metal Injection Molding, which is like plastic injection but uses a powdered metal and wax combination that is injected into a mold. The molded part is then baked to make it hard.

    Nice looking Irons, though the backs are a little fussy for my taste. It will be interesting to see if other OEM's adopt Metal injection as a process to form their Irons, rather than using forging or casting. If I may climb on my high horse for just a moment, it does annoy me when the Golf industry claims that Forging makes a club feel soft. Forging is just a process that forms the shape of the club, the forging process has ZERO affect on the soft feel of an Iron, it's the grade of Carbon Steel that determines a clubs "soft feel". I just wish that the industry would stop peddling a myth and stop trying to con their Customers.

    After playing with these for just over a year at least once a week. Ball movement is easy. Straight shots are nice. Extremely responsive with either a high flight or nock down shot. Your distance will greatly decrease if you miss hit. you can spin any iron do to the stock loft which is excellent. I got the bronze finish and there are little to no wear on the heads which I find amazing. The accro sensor in the grip is bull shit though lol and probably the shittest thing about these irons. 4 iron is a bit blady. Don't get these if your an average golfer im a 4 handicap and found the ball striking hard until I got use to it. In saying that I dropped a couple of digits once I figured them out.
