Thank you! Glad you could follow along! I've been itching to do an actual demo (like a show) but I might have to settle with a smaller demo of a couple products.
Well done video, Joel. I actually followed your instructions a lot better than some of the "pros" videos out there. I'm ready for the field test!
LOL! Great to hear! I had a demo planned at the end of this video, but had a minor problem with dry conditions, so the demo has to wait a little bit!
I'm going to try it out for sure and plan on making a video all about that. I probably won't use the scripted feature this year for my shows, but it is definitely something that I would like to do in the future!
Oh yeah, I've been playing with it and wow, it's a ton of fun!
Awesome video man. I cant wait to see a demo of it in action!
That is awesome! It's nice because each year you can just had a couple mods as we need them
Watched in June to learn the system as I was shooting lead, and just watched again to refresh me for New Years Eve I'm shooting lead for a city this time
Will do!
Lol, hey I understand completely. In my case I will be using it more often throughout the year. Also, I would like to keep progressing my passion and the hobby of pyro, so I find it a great investment to help those goals out. You can get one Module and the 18R for $500 instead of getting the scripted remote and multiple modules and just add modules as time goes on, which is also very appealing to me.
I just bought the Cobra System for the 4th of July 2017 (Scott is the best). Since I was not yet familiar with loading a scripted launching program I went with firing everything manualy which went just fine since I have been lighting my fireworks with a blowtorch and timing the cakes in my head for years. Problem with lighting the cakes with a blowtorch is that I have to be right next to the cakes watching them proceed through it's own firing sequence and when the current cake gets to the last row of shots i would light the next one or more cakes with the Blowtorch. Needless to say it was not very easy on my ears and if a major failure occured i was within the danger area of a low break or a cake partialy exploding for a vareity of reasons. I bought the hard case for the Firing Module, but not for the remote (trying to save a few bucks) which ws a mistake. I highly recommend getting the hard cases for both the remote and all the Firing Modules. Considering what you are paying for the system, for a bit over $100 you can get a hard case for both the remote and the Firing Module and have the added protection from dust, residue from the cakes firing coating the Module/Remote and/or any water from getting splashed or rained onto the Module/Remote. I also decided to buy the 9v batteries from Cobra (Scott, Cobras President is really awesome to work with and wont try to sell you someting you really shouldnt need). These 9v batteries he sold me were much better at delivering and keeping a strong signal and strong enough current to fire up to 4 Ignitors per Cue. The price was right in line with the batteries I usually buy (I buy the best I can get since there's nothing worse then running out of power using any type of electronic device). I had never seen this particular Type of 9v battery (Energizer Idustrial) before, but it keeped the maximum charge to my Module during the show and was still at full power after the show. I also bought their ingnitors since they can be mailed (Iv'e heard some types of ignitors cannot be mailed or need an ATF license). Everthing worked just as promised and Iv'e visited a few Pyro Channels on KZread since and they sing praises about this system. Thanks for the Demo video.
Great in depth review!!
I don't know anything that I'm looking at, but I can tell you know what you're talking about and you went extremely in depth and made clear, concise explanations of each part. This was a VERY good introduction/tutorial video, great job! Also love how you respond to people by just commenting on the video instead of responding to their comment directly hahaha

Thank you for the kind words! The replies were actually how KZread did it back then, you used to be able to @someone, but then they changed it to be under the reply of the actual comment some years ago.

Thanks Cippy!
Nice video very helpful thnx for uploading.
Thanks!
Great job on the video buddy!!!
Soon!
Dude I love this product.👏😍
this is a great informative video about the cobra firing system. I have been purchasing more and more every year since ive been shooting fireworks now for 23 years and am so ready to learn how to hook the show up and just sit back and relax and enjoy the colorful effects. you dont see that as much when you manually fire! quick question: I know with the regular plugs you said you can have up to 4 fireworks in each...is there no way to hook more than 1 up to each when using a quick plug instead? I would love to use quick plugs cuz its much faster hookup, but I cant afford more than 1 module for a show. thanks for all you do man. I enjoy your informative videos and all your fireworks videos!

Yep, there are breakout boards that make it easy to connect more than once in parallel/series. www.cobrafiringsystems.com/breakout_board_qp_parallel
You've got some serious money.
Yes it does work with automatic fire
sweet. i definetly watch it.
I just won an 18R2 from Pyroboom,can't wait to start shooting.
One day my friend!
LOL! Of course! :)
Great Video Bro..Thanks i think it will only fire 4 Talons no matter how you wire it, and 10 e-match in sires.... i should have mine soon.
I hope you are getting a kickback cuz you just sold one of those bad boys to me!
does the auto fire work with the manual remote or just this one
100% subscribe great video
If love to see a demo. You don't even need to do anything fancy; maybe just some fuse or small novelties like smoke.
nice vid
I honestly don't think I'll be able to get the time off work. I'm still working on it though!
you should do a demo with fireworks with it.
Next cobra Sale update me please anyone! Great video J.R ! Peace
Can you fire e-match and talons both on the talon mode?
Does it also work when I use regular wires connected to LEDs and buzzers because I'm a bit worried because if it's too much voltage it might explode or overheat pls let me know otherwise I might not buy this product.
Karl: He's not lying about Marco, he's down on the street. And his bag is missing. Hans Guerber:But he had the detonator!
I'm learned more from that video. Then i have 8 years of firing. With k and h fireworks

Glad to hear it! Well, glad to hear this video was helpful, not so much they didn't teach you much lol
do u have the 18r and the 18r2 romotes
With the new iniators for consumers. Its like e match. What setting do you put on the module. Conusmer 2.0 or ematch setting .1?
@JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics
Жыл бұрын
They would fire in both, so if you're not using igniters, I use the 0.1 setting. The main reason for not using 2.0 would be if you had a short on one initiator and fired another one within that 2 seconds, the second one wouldn't fire due to the short on the first one.

Hey Joel. What firmware did you select when you bought your Cobra?
@JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics
6 жыл бұрын
Fireworks with Suga Bear PYRO At the time it would have been 2.1.1. If you're just getting a few mods I would go with 3.0.3, but if you're getting more than three I would recommend going up to 5.0.2
@fireworkswithsugabearpyro684

Eventually I'm gonna get6 mods..but today I'm getting 2. ..even if I get the 5.0 firmware it'll still work even if I'm just using 1 at the time?
Where i can get this?
its a shame we dont have it in the netherlands :( i would like to own a set to :)
How do order this ?
Joel? How much did this hold u back?
Cuando vienes y los comentarios están en inglés
Yes.the 18R2 is $349, but most dont need it and can go with the 18R which is $199
I finally got the wife to let me get a cobra system, would you recommend just spending the extra money for the scripted remote and tablet? I have ben starting to do my shows to music
you can leave the modules in test, and just switch on arm on the remote? I mean you dont have bring it in the arm position (the modules)?? I ask me why there is an test mode and a "arm" mode on the module, when you have to switch the mode from the remote? or can you check the cues only in test mode when the module is in the test mode?
@Handymanherb
6 жыл бұрын
You put them in arm and they go into stand by till you hit arm on the remote, then they wake up and arm
Do you need the remote to fire? Or can you fire straight from modual?

Can you explain the purpose of slats? How do they relate to cues? Thank you!
@JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics
Жыл бұрын
They fire at the same time as cues. You're basically extending how many positions you can fire at the same time. Keep in mind, you're still limited to only 18 cues per channel, regardless if you have slats or not. They are a slightly cheaper way to fire from more than one position at the same time compared to two modules, but will limit your flexibility in the long run. I personally do not recommend them as they should be cheaper and lighter, but instead of heavy and bulky (even for the lighter duty and mini versions).
@dskokos77
Жыл бұрын
@@JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics thank you for your response Joel! Does that mean that an 18 cue receiver can have 18 slats, creating far more cues than 18$? I understand this will result in a ton of simultaneous ignition, but trying to figure out how slats extend capability.
@JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics
Жыл бұрын
@@dskokos77 No problem! No, maximum you can do 10 series slats or 4 parallel slats. You're basically duplicating the original set of 18 cues at a slat position, but you're still limited to 18 unique cues.
how much did it cost

De Cobra 18R2 en de 18M zijn gewoon in Nederland te koop op pyrowinkel.nl
What's the difference between the 18R and the 18R2 ?
@JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics
6 жыл бұрын
Fireworks with Suga Bear PYRO The biggest difference is the 18r2 will allow you to do scripted shows, while the 18r is used for manually firing. There are a few other key features the 18r2 has that makes it more valuable. Firing memory (cues that were previously fired show as red, last cue fired blinks red), unlimited manual firing speed (fire cues as fast as you can push buttons, 18r has a half second cooldown between manual firing), integration into the Control Panel (Visual UI via Android app), and more.

are you going to try scripting with software?
Wish I had the money for one could really use one but don’t have the money for one:(
idk man i know this is a great system and you can do some really cool things with it, but to me it just dosnt seam logical to spend $1000 for a firing system that your only going to use basically once a year.... why not just use your quantum fire for a tenth of the price.. maybe its just me personally but i would of taken that $1000 bucks you spent and take a road trip to wfboom for some cases
i just looked on their website its telling me over 300$
Im up to 10MODS now LOL!!
360 dollars for a 9v battery system? I need lipos I’m trying to light rockets, so this is basically a fancy bliscon system
@JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics
Жыл бұрын
$360 for just the module and no added protection. You can get this with LiPos, but that starts at $400 for just one module, plus $350 for the remote non-LiPo. Definitely cheaper options available.
Instead of just firing a firework I could use it to make an alarm system
