Same here, the boost spikes are unreal at part throttle and the power dies super hard after 4k. I just got my Cobb AP and geezus is the drive ability night and day! Not only that, the boost comes in smoother and hits hard all the way through to 6k.

I disagree. Lots of these people recommend disabling hill assist because it helps the car “drive better” or that it makes shifting from 1st to 2nd smoother or whatnot. I kept mine on after disabling it for a week and there was literally 0 difference except rolling back. I personally love the hill assist because it disables the minute you get on the gas so idk how some of these people stall unless they decide to release the clutch without giving gas. My hill assist works when I want it to and it isn’t overly sensitive. It holds the car for 3-4 seconds IF you decide to release the brake without giving the car gas when you want to start moving. It’s a great feature on my wrx.

This video is the best one I found that sums up if you’re thinking of getting an AP. This dude is absolutely correct. Such a fun car stock with just a simple stage 1 tune.. helps rev hang, pulls all the way to redline and just a better overall daily driver. The way it should have been from the factory.

I bought a used WRX and asked the dealership if they could tell if there was a tune on it from the previous owner, and they said they would have to send some ECU codes to Subaru and then wait to get them back, so it's not something they do. If all your internals are stock I don't think Subaru would see any reason to check your ECU to see if the car was flashed. Basically, Subaru will not plug anything in to determine if your car is tuned, and the only reason they would do that is if they see all the bolt-ons you have before voiding your warranty.

@@HI-pi1er Did not realize I commented on this 4 years ago lol but to answer your question, by run better I meant in terms of throttle response, idle and just overall feel of the car. A Cobb stage 1 or 2 91/93 octane off the shelf tune will open up nice power restricted from factory without hurting your motor, these tunes from Cobb are calibrated pretty safe but stay on top of basic maintenance, oil changes, fresh plugs, etc. a tuned car requires a little more TLC. Once you start getting into custom tunes for different fuels, bigger turbos, upgraded fuel management, etc. your walking on the wild side and it will be up to the tuner to keep the motor running within safe parameters.

@@HI-pi1er The wrx motor can handle the power increase from a stage 1 tune safely. You will get the same amount of mileage out of the car as if kept stock, that also depends on how you drive and maintenance. If you have access to a reputable tuner with a dyno, this is the best route with or without the cold air intake. Otherwise I would go with Cobb stage1+ package since the stage1+ tune is dialed in for their intake system out of the box or the cobb stage 1 off the shelf tune with OEM air box and filter.

andrew alvarez yes this problem is notorious with the 15+ engine. The Rev hang is meant to protect the engine, but if you look at the competition they don't have rev hang and their performance is just as strong, that's the frustrating thing. Like I said though, with the stock tune you have to wait a second until the revs start to drop and then you can get rid of the clutch pretty quickly and drop it into 2nd. Otherwise, it's like riding a mechanical bull 😎

@@someguy920 bingo, I bought a used WRX and asked the dealership if they could tell if there was a tune on it from the previous owner, and they said they would have to send some ECU codes to Subaru and then wait to get them back, so it's not something they do. If all your internals are stock I don't think Subaru would see any reason to check your ECU to see if the car was flashed.

I'm in Aus and it's the best thing you can do for you. It makes the car a lot better to drive, just like he explained it in the video. ADM models are included. The tunes are different for different markets. Buy one locally and it will have the right tune for your car already installed on it, and you can download new ones if you need from the COBB website. My 2018 wrx is stock apart from the COBB AP. It drives like a different car, much better. Get one, you won't regret it.

If you want attention, you will get it, good and bad. Plus you will need a custom tune unless you use the COBB intake, then you can use the OTS tune. If your worried, you can get a custom tune added to the COBB AP. Best way to go. The OTS maps aren't bad, but a custom tune for your car is better. Find someone with an intake so you can hear it before you buy one so you know what you're getting yourself into.

I bought a brand new 2019 WRX roughly two months ago. I'm not the best with stick shift, but with that being said, I find this car very difficult to drive stock. However, it's very difficult for me to consider tuning the car, even if it improves drivability. I worry about the reliability. This car doesn't have the best reputation in the reliability department, especially when it comes to tuning. I find it hard to believe that Subaru and the folks that actually built the car wouldn't know what tune is best for it. I'm sure other tunes are more fun and free up a bit of power, but at what cost?? I'm looking for something to convince me that an aftermarket tune is worth voiding my warranty for... as I'd like to be able to enjoy driving the car more.
