Lech, Czech and Rus' are the legendary ancestors of the slavic peoples. They were brothers that went on a hunting trip, were they followed different animals. Rus' moved to the east and became the ancestor of the Eastern Slavs (Russians, Belorussians and Ukrainians), Czech went west Bohemia were he became the ancestor of the Czechs, while Lech followed his prey northwesz and became the ancestor of the Lechites (aka the Poles). While the story has no basis at all in history and is only known from the 14th century onwards, at least what it got right is that the unification of Poland in the early medieval period happened from the northwestern part of the country.

Ok, to put things into context....Legendia was bought by new owners in 2015....they basically rebranded the park, rebuilt the entrance, and built some new signature rides - the dark ride, Lech, and ultimately the rapids. When they started, Energylandia was still not a thing - it was just a small park in the fields. Lech actually opened in 2017 as the tallest and largest coaster in Poland. It was only after that that Energylandia went on a rampage, and being just an hour away, totally stole the available audience - which is the reason why Legendia is pretty empty most of the time and some of the rides are abandoned. Lech is still worth the hype though - it's themed to the mythological founder of the Polish state and it even has its own music theme and a preshow (which is turned off nowadays). It stands its own agaisnt Zadra and Hyperion and still is the best themed coaster in Poland (which is not that difficult considering Energylandia's cheap and tacky and/or half finished theming).

I feel bad for Legendia, it was really unlucky for them that Energylandia opened so close by and became what it is today. I am sure the investors would put more money into the Park but they know they cant compete with Energylandia next door.

So fun fact. Almost 10 years ago, back when this park was still just a typical Polish amusement park with a bunch of cheaper second hand fair rides, they bought a ton of stuff from a Danish theme park that had just gone defunct. That park was named Sommerland Syd, it was located near the Danish/German border, and I actually went there just one week before they went bankrupt. The Scary Toys factory coaster is from there, it was known as Himalaia at both Sommerland Syd and Legendia before the rebrand in 2017. The weirdest thing about it was that it was self operated. Like you would board one of 2 cars on the circuit in the front loading area, pull down the lapbars to a good enough amount, and when ready push a big green button next to where the carriage sat and that would activate a drive wheel that'd dispatch the ride. Kinda crazy in retrospect but its a decent little coaster. And that makes for 2 self operated coasters I've managed to ride. Also I'm 99% sure that the looping bicycles are the same ones that used to be at Sommerland Syd, they famously had some which were exactly identical, just painted fully red when they were there. And yeah Sommerland Syd was quite the place. They had a Vekoma Invertigo there for some years as their star attraction (and Denmarks at the time largest coaster, it looked HUGE) but had to sell it in a last ditch effort to keep the park alive for another season.

The twin looping coaster was my first inverting coaster as a kid at American Adventure, so many great memories re-riding that thing over and over. It used to only have a 1m height requirement back in the day but was quietly bumped up to a 1.4m one year.

Wow, I too recall the American Adventure, from the midlands, was a park from my childhood, used to go to Alton, Drayton, and American adventure in rotation in my childhood. The AA was a great small scale park but ran into financial troubles which was a shame, it was so close to Alton and Drayton an arms race it could not compete in, fun fact its final owner was the late John Broome, founder of Alton Towers, who sadly passed aged 80 this year, something interesting Taylor and Sarah and others may not know, he is survived by his son Will and his current company, in 2015 he had bought Cornwalls Crealy Adventure park and 200 acres of adjacent land, with plans to turn a family park into another top tier UK park, I don't think with covid and everything else if his company achieved it, but it is a sad day for the passing of one of the UKs giants of the industry and its history, he ran the towers from the 70s to 1990 when he sold it to Tussauds and moved on to other projects, saving the American Adventure was one of them, but he didn't strike gold second time around.

I went here in June, and you can tell Legendia is not thriving. It was basically a ghost town, while nearby Energylandia was absolutely slammed. It's a shame, I think it's a pleasant and clean park with some interesting heritage rides. What can Legendia do to get some of that sweet EU cash that Energylandia is doing so well off of? Music wise, this park indeed seems to have an "anything goes" mentality. At one point I heard a medieval version of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters. I had the exact same mishap in the Lech queue line! So bizarre. Some signs would have helped. I have no idea if I like Lech coaster. It's right on the cusp of what is too intense for me to enjoy. I spend half the course greying out. I could stomach only two rides. It makes Legendia a must-visit for thrillseekers, but I imagine it's not the accessible, fun-for-all standout ride Legendia needs to bring in local crowds and families. The zoo next door was busier.

Yeah afaik from what others have said, 2017 was pretty much the peak of their existance. They had just gotten a new management who had invested in Lech coaster and the dark ride and a bunch of theming. But Energylandia, which not only receives EU tourism development funding, but also is controlled by a pretty big and profitable corporation, completely outshined Legendia and has stolen away any and all of the audience that they were trying to capture. I mean in 2017 Energylandia was still mid sized, but from when they opened in 2014 to now they've become one of the world's largest theme parks in just 8 years. They know where to get the money for expansion from and they sure are abusing the heck out of it. IDK if its sustainable though, like IDK if Energylandia is even profitable on its own.

Depends what you consider nearby and where you are travelling from. Two examples of close parks are Parque Warner Madrid/Parque de Atracciones de Madrid and in London you have Chessington and Thorpe Park. But I often also hear people combining Europa Park and Tripsdrill or the Dutch parks which are all fairly close to one another.

@@jayB733 Hershey, Dorney and Knoebels are all within 1-2 hours apart. San Francisco has both California's Great America (which is closing in a few years, so good place to get some credits) and Discovery Kingdom. Richmond has Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens Williamsburg closeby and there is also San Antonio which has Seaworld San Antonio and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. You could also go out to Florida but only visit the parks that are worth your buck, you don't have to visit all the parks. In NY State there isn't much but Nickelodeon Universe, Luna Park and Great Adventure (NJ) would all be doable together and has some fun rides.

Six Flags New England (home of Wicked Cyclone and Superman: The Ride) and Lake Compounce (a small but charming park that has the mighty Boulder Dash, a bucket-list ride for any woodie fan) are less than an hour's drive from each other. Those parks alone get you the three most elite coasters in the New England region, and a bunch of others. SFNE's atmosphere is not the best but Compounce makes up for it. You could also hit Quassy about 30 minutes from Compounce, a tiny park that has one of the first Gravity Group junior woodies. My home park, Canobie Lake Park, is about 2 hours further on from SFNE, but that's going a bit further afield for another small park. It has a beautifully preserved 1930s woodie and a small, cleverly themed Gerstlauer Eurofighter.

@@HeyMavDak As a guess they'd be generating well over $4000 a month just from the youtube subscriptions not including any advertising side angles such as sponsorships and other related business activities such as merch. I am a business teacher but youtube is not really my area of expertise. My guess is that they are building the brand and will expand and diversify as they become better known. They certainly have drive and talent.
