Coastal Foraging: SEAFOOD SANDWICH!!! Razor Clam Catch & Cook 🤤🔥

Спорт

In this episode I visit the Washington Pacific Coast to forage for seafood and do my first Clam Catch & Cook!!! After crabbing & a quick attempt at Surfperch fishing, I drove onto the beach and show you how to dig Razor Clams in Washington Sate, then do a delicious Razor Clam Catch, Clean, Cook right by my car on the beach NWFS style! Coastal foraging video was filmed in November 2019.

You know I am sad that it is closed but it also could be a good thing. Salmon and steelhead returns have been lower and lower. Maybe this closure will help our returns, also help clamming and crabbing etc etc. thank you for keeping us entertained and hope we can meet in the water one day. Tight Lines

Back long before I was born, and blue crab season wasn't super limited in Florida, my dad used to always have good crabbin' days using nothing more than a chicken leg and a good length of durable string down by some of the marshes and estuaries at the mouth of the Caloosahatchee river. Just let it soak for a bit and pull it on up, sure enough thered be anywhere from one to five and occasionally if you were lucky even more latched onto it. Man those milkyway photos were dope as hell, its amazing to see just how drastic certain kinds of cameras deal with low light photography. It was almost a night and day difference between your few cameras, especially when the sun was far below the horizon but it looked fairly bright still to the point there were shadows on the more high end camera while i believe its your gopro that made it look pitch black futher than four feet away. If you're ever doing deep sea fishing far enough off shore where you're well into international waters and have zero light pollution from cities and other boats, go ahead and turn off all lighting other than anti collision and nav lights for ten minutes, and then just look up... you'll see with your own eyes what your camera captured here, then just imagine the photos your camera could catch compared to your eyes out there. For best results try this on a new moon.

I dont have a fishing license for the state I moved to yet, so brews, a flat-screen and a couch will have to do for now lol. I highly recommend watching these videos on a HDTV too as he mentioned, if i recall he uploads in 4K or 2k if not at least 1080p. Its just such a crisp and lifelike image

When I was a little boy, my aunt had me try some sturgeon caviar that was imported from Russia. It tasted just like fish bait smells. I haven't seen anyone eat caviar in over 50 years, don't know why anyone would want to. Was that Ocean Shores? Had the best sea food I ever ate at a place called Bennett's Fish Shack in Ocean Shores, Washington. I highly recommend it!

Rough thing to get introduced to as a little boy 😂 Have you tried Salmon caviar? If you do, ease into it, starting with Chum eggs 🤙 And this was out by Westport. Still never been to Ocean Shores, but need to check out that fish shack when I'm there! Sounds delicious!

@@NWFishingSecrets I've never tried salmon eggs. I honestly don't think I could swallow them. Be sure to order a side of oysters when you visit Bennett's, but everything on the menu is amazing. Great video!

I’ve seen a technique where they use table salt in a bottle and when they pour the salt into the hole , the razor clams come out , maybe the salt concentration is too much Maybe making clam chowder next time 😋

I've seen them catch crabs off the docks in Westport. You're wasting some good meat with that foot. What we called the digger. I kind of squeeze it off in the body and cut the messy part off where it attaches and then you split it open with a knife open it up till it's shaped like a butterfly and then scrape all the yucky stuff out. You've got the nicest, meatiest, most tender part of the clam. The rest is good for chowder.

Hey, me again.. I see your getting into coastal foraging. You should check out smash fishing, the guys from the UK, but you could learn a thing or two 😉 Or. You do a colab with Fowlers Makery, with his right hand man.. sorry totally forgot his name, but he's an expert in edibles along with bushcraft catching 😉

Should also try pouring salt on the clams squirt hole. I've seen videos where they push themselves out trying to get away from the salt

I'm pretty sure that's fermented black garlic super popular in China. I think the sugars break it down.

I think this is the video where you were digging clams and you mentioned a possible tsunami. I had my first tsunami nightmare somewhere in the early sixties when I didn't even know what that meant and I've had them every so often since. So where do I live now? In Ocean Shores 1 mile between Grays Harbor Bay and 1.5 miles from the ocean. National Geographic said that if we had a tsunami we were all toast.

I remember a trip out to the coast when my sister and I were kids. She saw a Tsunami warning sign on the way there and had a sleepless night on day one! Beautiful place to live though despite "living on the edge". Same goes for anyone living in Mt. Rainier runoff valleys.....! :)
