Coastal Erosion - Good or Bad for Lyme Regis?
A group of sixth form geography students from the Woodroffe School in Lyme Regis were challenged to investigate coastal erosion - is it good or bad for the town? And a group of photography students chose to make a film about it.
It was a community partnership project made in close cooperation with Lyme Regis Museum and supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund

Very well presented covering several different aspects and community views on the matter. I was Lyme born and bred and have seen so much change in over 60 years. Great to see young A level students getting involved. I would have liked to have seen Jim Thomas, my old geography teachers opinion on it all.
I have this for my georgraphy homework lmaooo

I thoroughly enjoyed this video. What a great idea to use a student project format to introduce and examine this interesting international problem. Congratulations to all involved.
This is brilliant. Thank you so much. Such a good insight into coastal issues.

Congratulations to all the young people who were involved in making this film and the valuable information discussed with the experts. I hope you all received good results from this project! We used to come to Lyme in the 1980s and watched the surveyors at work, and on seeing the plans were amazed just how much planning was being done, the involvement of the locals, and the cost!! The following years we had to come back again and again to watch the transformation of the Marine Parade and the gardens. Since the last time I visited even more work has been done, and I feel this is an amazing project which has improved the town and just hope it has been money well spent! Finally, for anyone walking along the Parade who is unaware of the extent of the improvements have a look at the edge of the where the walkway meets the shingle. Occasionally there are the beginnings of the steps which originally lead down to the original beach level about ten foot below its new level. From memory we were told the whole shingle beach was filled with 50 million tons of shingle from the Isle of Wight, and the sandy beach was filled with 40 million tons of sand from France! Truly amazing.......so many lovely holidays and memories of very hospitable accommodation providers!
An amazing video thank you. My GCSE students really tuned into this. A valuable teaching resource!
