Please do more videos like this where you look at things from a beginner's point of view. The amount of us that are novice far outweigh the experienced drivers. You aren't just helping us shave seconds off of our lap time You're helping us shave months and years off of our rate of progression.

I'm excited because this is the car I enjoy driving and know this course well. The driver is within a half second of my best time, so we're in the ball park. Might not have the same issues, but I bet there's some overlap.

That explanation around 5:00-6:00 was excellent! The idea of slightly different turn-in timing equating to very different turning circles was super eye-opening for me

I'm glad you pointed out this is a G29 wheel because I have a $1000 DD setup and I'm making the same mistakes. Things I thought better FF could fix, but I really have to fix them myself.

My respect goes to anyone who tries learning trail braking on the default Logitech pedals, it is NOT easy. Also, the student is one hell of a fast learner. Kudos!

I have watched thousands of videos here for beginners, and it is the first really useful one which describes clearly what is the problem when you start, and in a practical way.

I've been sim racing for 3 years now and this is one of the most helpful videos I've seen so far

I did the drills from the video and WOW did things click! I am having so much more fun now that I understand how to use the oversteer and understeer properly

many people can go fast but very little can "explain". You're the man! I played sim more than 10years, I just know how to "go fast" but each of your explanation kept opening my eyes for more knowledge! Thanks Suellio! your book surely enlighten me!

Literally just got a G29 for Christmas and got into Assetto Corsa and BeamNG because of it, thank you for these super helpful beginner tips Suellio!

For the newbies in G29s/G920s: it's a good enough wheel for you to be competitive. I recommend you do not remove the stop in the brakes and just calibrate them via game or through Windows. Get a pack of hall effect thingies for the pedals as it's easy to set up and you'll avoid headaches with the potentiometers. If you live in a first world country, you probably can get a load cell mod. When upgrading, if you can only upgrade one thing, get a cockpit or a load cell pedal set first and after that start thinking about upgrading the wheelbase. The key to being competitive is practice practice practice.

Man I feel your like the pieces to the puzzle, I was struggling rotating to much too early, but I didn't know how explain it to myself. It was like an eureka moment lol

11:00 needs to push that right wheel all the at to that white line. I have a g920 which is the same as this wheel he’s using and throttle control is kind of difficult, but once you get used to it becomes easy. Great session man love to see the Logitech still having great results.

Omg the correcting oversteer with throttle just solved most of my problems, I knew that more throttle puts weight over the rear tires and increases grip but thought once the slide starts any extra throttle will just bring you around more. I'm going to try this when I go for another stock car circuit race where it just wants to spin everywhere.

I started Iraci g 2 years go with a Thrustnaster 458 spider 😅 I’m still playing with it and I had to learn everything by my self. If I had to start today for sure I’ll hire a couch! Really Great content !!

Before I watched this video, I couldn't really understand why a lot of F1 drivers wanted an oversteery setup. Sure I know that having some oversteer helps with rotation, but I didn't realize that this is HOW you use oversteer properly. This was an amazing video, thank you for this!

I know on GT7, in the Gr.3 Ferrari 458 Italia, on Mount Panorama, in the sharp uphill left, as i ease off the brake, i find myself easing into the throttle before releasing the brake all the way, to control oversteer. And that is what youre teaching here. I HAD NO IDEA!! So i learned that i learned something advanced without being taught. Thats cool. And also on the downhill right left right left right section, i ease the throttle while releasing the brake to control oversteer in a downhill section. It controls the weight transfer SO MUCH BETTER that in online races in my group, I DOMINATE that track. And im no pro by any means.

Wow, you have opened my eyes to racing mechanics that I didn't know existed. I have watched hundreds of videos teaching the basics to beginners, but this is on whole another level. Let me ask you though, if you induce oversteer/understeer on every corner, wouldn't that wear out your tires much faster than just driving on a normal line with maximum grip? I assume that it will make you faster as you will be able to accelerate earlier/harder, but I feel like it wouldn't be feasible on longer races where tire wear matters a lot. Is that not the case?

That Video helped a lot, already knew how to rotate the car on the brakes but I often lost it. Never thought about applying throttle as i thought, if i already got oversteer it will just make it worse😁 like you said in the end, i did about 300 laps not really knowing what i did and couldn't improve my laptimes, with that knowledge i could improve within 10 laps already 😁

In one of the videos you have made about trail braking, you said to brake slightly into the corner so that there is less understeer. However, in this video, you say to put a little bit throttle. Please clarify if possible.

different stages of the corner

im an experienced driver on the thrustmaster tmx and ive got to B class and almost 3000 irating after 3 months so remember equipment doesnt matter too much, but the driver does.

Let me take notes and see if I can find anything on the intro lap: 1. Can be much more aggressive on turn 2. Use the kurb and hold more speed. There is A LOT of time to be gained here. 2. Is there enough brake bias in the car? I feel like he braked too early in turn 3 which caused him to not hold enough speed. That straight is very, very long so you need to get a good exit here. There shouldn't really be any coasting either. It's brake, trail brake, throttle with only a moments worth of coasting if needed. 3. For the next section he needs to go further right and LOOK at the corner/kurb so he turns where he needs to. I noticed he is not using the kurbs. The kurbs are a part of the track, use them! You need to know the track limits so you can do so in practice to figure them out and abuse those limits every single time. Use all of the track and don't be afraid of the car. Sliding there is natural, you want to use that oversteer to your advantage which allows you to hold more speed on the corner. 4. I noticed on the very next corner that he again, clearly has a glaring issue with braking too early, then not holding enough speed on the corner. He also is still not using the kurbs. This is very bad, too much time wasted. If this was me racing, I would be pissed with my performance doing that lol! Hold more speed, and use the kurbs. 5. After he spun out, I went back and checked his acceleration inputs. This guy doesn't ease onto the throttle at all and normally just completely lifts. That's why he keeps spinning out. Most racers only brake then ease back onto the throttle. The problem is this guys racing style/habits are bad. They need to be reformed from the ground up and he needs to have the basics of racing theory pounded into his head. 1:21 Just look at how long he is off the throttle. These cars LOVE to oversteer when off throttle. You need to brake, apex, hold then hold the throttle. There should be close to zero time from braking to throttling which is why he's spinning. He also needs to be much lighter on the pedal and gradually increase the throttle. Okay so now lets see if I was right. Edit: Never trail braking too much which is the "he's braking too early and his action of braking into throttling has gaps where it shouldn't" part of what I said comes in. Saying that he's a victim of the balance of the car is a perfect way to describe his driving lol! You should understand your car, get comfortable with it, and control the car. Not letting the car control you instead. These are the main issues he is having. Fix the braking and the balance of the car will come with it. Fix the track use / throttling and the rest will follow. Looks like I was right on the money again with this one! Edit #2: Was right on the money again. I instantly noticed he wasn't using all of the track which was causing his problems. He needs to go further right and use ALL of the track. That in itself will help stabilize the car and is VERY important for both the corner and exit speeds of the following corner. Not surprised this is the solution to his problem for this corner :). I noticed pretty quickly that he was simply asking for more than the car needed to give which is a massive loss of time in the top splits. Also, not using the kurbs is killing his arc. Edit #3: What a brilliant way to fix his track usage problem! I just learned something new as a reference point for myself to be more consistent. Though I've never really had a problem with using all of the track since I'm been playing racing games since I was a toddler so well over 2 decades now :). Also, please tell him to use the kurbs, my OCD is acting up watching this 😂. Also yes, he needs to understand that in practice he should be crashing/spinning to find the cars absolute limit then dialing it back. Of course you wouldn't do this IRL, but this is a video game and one of the massive advantages of such, is that you can do so. Edit #4: Hey look, it's just like I said. "Where's the throttle?!?!?" 😂 Now he gets to learn how he shouldn't be coasting as much as he has been. It was clear as day to me that he did not understand that you shouldn't be coasting much in these cars or you will get too much oversteer. For now just fixing this issue should be enough but in reality he's still braking too early though. Edit #5: For his turning late issue, I don't think he realizes that he's not considering the kurb to be a part of the track. It is a part of the track and you should be looking at where you want to go. Doing that alone would solve most of his issue here. He could turn in a bit earlier by looking at the kurb (where he wants to go), hitting it, then exiting out using the next kurb so he doesn't turn too much. Edit #6: Looks like we didn't get to fix his braking issue but everything else was touched on. I think he will become a much, much faster driver now thanks to your help. But he still needs these braking issues to be fixed.

A lot of your videos are helpful but out of all I watched this one felt extremely helpful. Ive been racing for a year, maybe year and a half, and the idea of inducing understeer to straighten the car is not something I've seen anyone mention, apart from some of your videos but not as in depth as this one. Unlearnig the countersteer though is going to take time!

the hardest point for me is the tuning . I could see other people do stuff I could not and thought it was my driving . then as I adjusted I could do the same thing others could .

I probably learn more from you in 10 minutes than I would in half a year goin on my own. Especially these counterintutive things that you can only come up with when you understood the dynamics very well is insanely useful for beginners like me. I really tried to get oversteer right and especially to catch the oversteer but I was tryin it with countersteer. I mean sometimes it worked but Its hardly controllable for me. I`ll test tomorrow to try with even more steer and gas. Where could I get a private lesson? I guess I should do your course... Everytime I get a glimpse of the contents - I totally change my point of view...

Great teacher and G92/920 is a great wheel even for more than beginners. A lot of it has to do with the calibration and setup of the game you're playing. And yes it might be a little harder to tell where you are on the brake / throttle on this wheel and its inaccurate but I think you will be doing extremely small corrections when driving a car fast anyway even with a good rig.

So I'm no racer.. I do play PCARS2 every now again, but strictly time attacks (I enjoy the singleplayer element in it). I do enjoy watching people play iRacing, but I'd never dive into it. This video was an amazing watch! Not only because we got to see a driver improve, but also your feedback, approach and execution was magnificent. Having "trained" (more like baby-sitting) kids in CSGO I notice a fair amount of discrepancy between us. You are a trainer - I was merely there to unlock a door for kids to fool around with a PC for 2½ hours 😂

I just got a g920 with the works. Suddenly I forget how to shift during important turns. When to down shift/ brake….. sooo difficult for me. More video like this is greatly helpful. Thank you 🙏

The switching from oversteer to understeer part seems hard. I currently mostly rely on my force feedback kinda guiding my front wheels if i slide, and i just keep it pointing to where i want to go, kinda like drifting but without intention to keep the angle and drifting it further
