Before this comeback Shuhua had never once died her hair and was very proud of that fact. She even stated publicly that she would never dye it. But Soyeon had a vision and asked Shuhua if she would do it. The bond between the members is so strong and they believe in their leader's vision, so Shuhua accepted to go along with the blond concept. The rest is history! Yes, Shuhua is indeed trouble, but so are all the members. I have honestly never seen a group so chaotic. Whereas the social structure of most k-pop groups is similar to that of a sports team, with a leader (captain) and their members (team), (G)I-dle's structure resembles more that of a street gang. Soyeon is the strong quiet head, and the other members, her lieutenants, run absolutely wild and unimpeded by anything, but would absolutely die for Soyeon. Watching compilations of their chaotic moments is one of my favourtie things in life!

Shuhau is trouble. She's a wildcard. In her Workdol series, any behind the scenes or interviews she can become chaos incarnate on a dime. She's hilarious.

Banksy is a famous street artist from the UK. He is famous for making a painting which shredded itself (he put a shredder into the frame itself when he made it) right after it sold at an auction for a million dollars to show that artwork should not be treated as an asset. That said, the shredded version sold a couple years ago for $25M

This song has a message, in Korea men would search girl child nude but it translates. So in South Korean engines the song nxde would appear instead if you search “gidle nxde” since it translates to girl child nude.This interferes with the search so that people who search that inappropriate word, would find that song instead. Many people hated on the song saying it didn’t give out “self made women” but if you actually do research you will see how this song has many meanings.

Love your interpretation! Nxde is a really important song because of the message it tries to get across. The girls dyed their hair blonde to suit the Marilyn Monroe theme. Especially Shuhua who’s previously against hair-dyeing but willing to do so for this song. Nxde is an art piece.

Thank you for getting back to them :) As for suggestions of (G)I-dle songs: - "Revenge" is amazing and full of references to Soojin, also it's basically a movie lol (MV); - "Allergy"/"Queencard" is a twofer, gotta be watched back to back with an amazing storyline (MV); - "Hwaa" one of their best songs, so well written (MV); - "Put It Straight (Nightmare version)" Queendom version (no MV, only live); - "Blow Your Mind" and "I'm the Trend", putting these two together because they're not official releases, they just made them for fun and as a gift for fans. They don't really have an official MV but they have videos homemade style that work as MV's and they're so fun to watch and you get to see a bit of their genuine personalities too. I like to suggest a lot of songs so you can pick and choose :)

@@CoachCastTV There is a video for Put It Straight but it's a scary Halloween performance in the Dance Studio at Cube Entertainment. They went all-out for the makeup in that one, AMAZING costumes. The Halloween version is on (G)I-DLE's channel. BUT I am sure agentreign really wants you to experience the even more artsy Live Stage performance that the group did while on Queendom. HOWEVER, MNET (or I think it was on their other channel, M2) is famous for channel strikes for reactors, so please be careful.

fun fact: the music in the chorus is a sample of “La Habanera”, the most famous part in the classical piece “Carmen” by Georges Bizet

Fabulous song and video, and a sterling example of Soyeon's willingness to cram more and more references into MVs/songs to further the messaging; to the point where you almost need annotated versions. For example, Minnies' first appearance in Nxde is a direct reference to a scene in the Marilyn Monroe movie 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,' and in Soyeon's first rap Soyeon is holding a copy of "Leaves of Grass,' a reference to Marilyn's fondness for Walt Whitman. And that's in the first few seconds, really. There's also a musical reference, during the burlesque portions, to the theme from the opera 'Carmen' (which features a fiery, sexually independent female protagonist--who ends up dead at the end!). I really like this kind of messaging, but that's just me. Anyway, another commenter has recommended the recent song/MV 'Revenge' and the combo MVs for 'Allergy' and 'Queencard,' and I heartily second those recommendations. I love this song! Did you know that Soyeon wrote the song "Nxde " to raise awareness for cp in Korea so whenever fcked up men would search "aibeul nde" which means "nd3 children" and aibeul is pronounced as aideul (idle in Korean), (G)I-DLE will pop up instead. when Soyeon wrote the last line of nxde, it translates to "Im born nxde, the pervert is YOU" and if you think otherwise, YOU are the problem’’ so this is one of the reasons why I love gidle, and soyeon in general

*INTERESTING FACT* .. SOYEON titled the song *"NXDE"* because pervs in Korea (mostly men) search for *"aideul nxde"* ("minors nxde" - aideul pronounced similar to IDLE). That way when pervs typed in aideul nxde they would instead get *(G)I-DLE "NXDE"* .. SOYEON is a genius. *BANKSY* is a pseudonymous street artist, political activist, film director based in England whose real name and identity remain unknown. Many of the art work on the walls in the MV are BANKSY inspired.

Nice you're keeping up while still packing. Commenting on the chaos of Idle, it's too bad we can't get a serious study of their group dynamics, because it seem to me Soyeon is not only a genius musician, but she also is a very smart manager. (And remember Soyeon also has to manage dealing with Cube management, who are probably as baffled what she's up to as her members.) Soyeon may be the leader, but she's dealing with a group of seriously talented people always under pressure to produce the next hit. She's smart enough to know there's a time to work, and you can watch their bts videos to see just how hard they all work tweaking their vocals by just fractions to get the right tones, and a time to let them blow off steam so they can better focus back in the studio. She really is Mom, keeping a watch on her fractous, exuberant kids to make sure they don't get in any trouble she can't get them out of, then saying "Playtime's over, back to work" and they obediently follow her. I really don't think anyone else could have pulled this off except Soyeon because her members respect her so much and know she's always the hardest-working of them. It puzzles me that Cube isn't doing everything in their power to keep them, since the members have all made it clear They Can't Wait! to get out from under them and knows Soyeon and Idle is one of the few groups capable of packing up and moving to a new setup with barely a hiccup. Time to add two or three zeros to their contract. (Bringing Soojin back before it becomes a contract issue wouldn't be a bad idea either.) You should do a double-feature of "Dumdi Dumdi" and Soyeon's solo "Beam Beam." Both these songs are not only great, but they're great fun. These are my go-to songs when I need to cheer myself up. Yup, this was a in-your-face condemnation of the perception that beautiful women are brainless beings, only valuable for their looks. In Soyeon's first rap, she talks about how she's seen as such, but when the public finds out that she has a brain, they yell 'You've tricked me, you're a liar." Too many people only want the public facing image of celebrities - especially women - and get upset when reality doesn't match their preconceived fantasies. Given K-pop's (and society's) traditional treatment of female Idols, this is of particular concern. Taking these issues head-on has become the norm for Idle, and I like it. It's too bad that Coach sees himself as "a pretty face" - for a number of reasons - but I suspect that he may have more to offer than just that. I'm sure that, if we hang in there, we'll eventually see the "real Coach" begin to blossom. ;)

The shredded artwork is the Bansky reference. An anonymous artist or a group of artists sold an expensive painting at auction, as soon as it sold it shredded itself by some trigger in the frame of the painting.

Nxde is about betraying the audience's lecherous assumptions about female performers who are treated as objects, while Banksy betrayed the expectations of art investors by having the print in a frame that shredded it as soon as it was gaveled at auction. (G)I-DLE is an interesting group for me, because about half the songs are not my thing at all and the other half are really really good. This is in the former half, although I really enjoy the message and ideas of both the song and the video. I agree that Coach is more than just a pretty face, he also has a very pleasant speaking voice! 😂 Great reaction as always guys, hope all the packing and moving and so forth is going well!
