Wow that Hyper 6.1 - with silver squares behind the W’s at 10 & 2; not the ‘tour’ with yellow squares - got me all the way through juniors and into college. I’ve been looking for a clean example for 16 years so I couldn’t believe when you said it was 5/8 - same as mine. I will HAPPILY pay up, even if the grip doesn’t survive the plastic removal. Let me know what you think a reasonable price is, and I’ll add $50! Or I can just dm you a number. Hope you see this. Thanks guys!

I have 2 Hyper Pro Staffs 6.1 The 18/20 version. I still play with them. They play well, small sweet spot. They came after the classic. They are pretty much the same and the Wilson Pro Labs 6.1 Pro Staff. Smooth racquets.

The Hyper Pro-Staff 6.1 95 is probably the best stick there. It's the one they use today for the Pro Labs 6.1 95. Lowest SW of all 6.1 95s, so easier to play for most people. The grips are measured on the bare polyurethane or pallet, so that will be the same, but the leather or synthetic replacement grips today are a bit thicker than they were 10+ years ago, which is why modern sticks seem to have a bit larger grips overall.

Synthetic grips go thinner over time. Maybe that´s why they measure a bit more than the marked grip.

Hyper Pro Staff was dope! I still break my old one out and play with it. Great racquet! Think Del Porto played with it forever

Ithink should measure grip with plastic off, then overwrap increases size😊

HARRY! The 6.1 was NOT a bad racquet in the hands of someone who knew how to customize. It's a box bean, with Kevlar and a predictable response. I believe I put silicone in the handle, added a leather grip and put lead at 3 and 9 o'clock and I played USTA 4.5 doubles very successfully. I also use a 4-1/2" grip. I'll give you $80 for it. I'll string it up with natural gut at 63lbs.

Whoa. That Hyper Carbon 6.1 95 is awesome. I think that was from '04. Same year as the Pro Staff Hyper Carbon Tour 90 that I love so much. The Asia version was an 18x20 with a 335g strung weight. 31cm balance. Would have been an awesome control frame. This one looks 16 x 18 or 16 x19 though.

The hyper pro staff 6.1 reminds me of an old racket I have the hyper pro staff 7.6 rollers. I used to like it but they were hated by restringers. Reckon Harry would have hated it haha.

It's actually not the first retail Fed edition. That one had a black buttcap. Subsequent ones had a red buttcap, like this one. Should also be some lettering about a tennis sensor inside the hoop. Which the original release didn't have either.

The leathergrip is often thinner (1.5mm thick) while the common grips are rather thicker( 1.7-1.75mm thick). Might be the reason?

That would explain why my (original) Profile's 4 5/8 grip feels like a 4 1/2.

Since none of those racquets are made in the US hard to blame the US teachers for not teaching math

André the Giant still alive? Not for the last 30 years, bro. Might have missed that. Btw speaking of grip sizes, I see a lot of racquets at TW that are sold in 4 5/8, those SAME racquets are NOT sold by TW-E in 4 5/8, however. Or by any tennis store in Europe, for that matter. What is up with that??!!!
