As much as I know, many Padang restaurants actually know what menu that we have eaten when seeing the empty plate. We just need to call them to our table once we're done, then they start to list and calculate the total price by seeing the empty plates

What the gentleman who said he had been on a month-long trip to Indonesia meant was Kuta in Lombok, which is pristine compared to Kuta in Bali. Kind of embarrassing that the Indonesian wasn't aware of this distinction.

I forgot about how many ethnics, food and Islands; but maybe he tell the right numbers, because there are many of them. Indonesia is 4th most populous country in the world with 40%+ Javanese and 15%+ Sundanese, mostly in Java island. Indonesia has the largest muslim population in the world but we have 6 official religions. Rendang is from Padang, west Sumatera. But, there are variation of rendangs in a few place of South East Asia because Indonesian people bring them to those places in the past. Indonesia has many foods, and we love spicy foods, especially food with sambal. We many sweet snacks, fried foods, and many kind of traditional beverages.

Rendang is from Minangkabau word Randang Randang = slow cook technic in coconut milk and spice. In older way, they use buffalo meat. The texture is harder than beef (cow meat).

One thing people should aware too.. Not all rendang and fried rice is good. It's not automatically good taste.

I’m from Lombok🏝️. And there’s Kuta beach too in the Pujut area, Central Lombok region. In this video, they were talking about the Kuta in Lombok🏝️. Lombok🏝️ is known for more adventurous place for hiking (Mt. Rinjani) & snorkeling. One thing that you can't find in other world if you visited your friend house or your colleagues, except in Indonesia that had also already lost in the current days is one of a kindness culture. Agree or not, but in 90 to late 70' and even before, you will welcome to into their house and then while you make the conversation with them (of if your friends not yet coming back)....then you just wait a while .. and automatically then one of their family member (usually his mom or child) or house helper will bring you a cup of coffee or tea for you all. Even you can easily to see the ashtray in the middle of tables in their guest room (In Indonesia called: asbak, or _asbakje_ in Dutch). This is a traditional culture. But this normal daily culture is starting to forget since peoples concern about diabetes and high pressure blood or heart attack. Because some of them refuse it and some of them are now not smokers anymore. Also, in late 90's till now then the host always please you to offers drink what, which usually you are as a guest will sober say, _"Jangan repot-repot"_ (Don't burden your self). Now, this traditional culture is a very very rare event that you will find in any house family in Indonesia, especially who live in the city and metropolitan (except you ask for). (Though this culture it may be still actual in a village and rural area). And unfortunate, if you go to restaurant also that previously provide you a free drink of plain tea, but now this is very very rare you can find starting in late 90's. (I'm quite sure this is because of an influence the capitalism mind may be). The offering and pleased you for a drink it's a kind of politeness and warm welcome of the host to the guest. However, this is why Indonesia is paradise of coffee or tea, and event cigarettes.
