They said it's because he hasn't been convicted yet, nevermind that 70% of his constituents want him out, he's an admitted criminal, and he lied about everything. Make no mistake, Republicans wouldn't vote out one of their own if they burned the actual Constitution on the House floor-- they need the votes. If a Republican got convicted, Republicans would move the goalposts to say "let the voters decide at the next election"-- it's a constant grift.

Only 20 members of Congress (both chambers) have been expelled throughout the entire history of the U.S. The last one expelled was James Traficant in 2002 with 420 members voting yes, 1 member voting no, 9 members voting 'present', and 4 members not voting after he was convicted of ten felony counts including bribery, racketeering, and tax evasion. After his expulsion, Traficant ran as an independent candidate for another term in the House while incarcerated at the United States Penitentiary, Allenwood. He received 28,045 votes, or 15 percent, and became one of only a handful of individuals in the history of the United States to run for a federal office from prison. Tim Ryan, a former aide to Traficant, won the election.

Speaking of breaking promises, Santos broke his promise to give donation money for a veteran's dogs surgery. He raised over 30 grand for the operation and then ghosted the veteran and his dog eventually died as a result.

Indictments don't get peopled kicked out of Congress. The House rule used to be someone indicted for a felony that, if found guilty, would result in imprisonment for a year or more would lose all committee assignments, but I'm not sure if Republicans changed it.

Republicans love wasting time on bills they know won’t get passed into law. They just need it on the record for when they go run for re-election. You should take a moment a read a newspaper article. Several months ago, the GOP officials announced that they would not carry his petitions. Consequently, Mr. Santos cannot get on the ballot. That is a fact (not an opinion.) @@sbonamo
