I will introduce you to the modifications made to CNC1310. Specifically, I focus on the installation of encoders to address the step-out issue of stepping motors.
As a result, even with household CNC routers and 3D printers, it becomes possible to achieve high-precision machining similar to industrial servo motors.
To explain the role and effects of the encoder clearly, I use the example of three characters drinking at a bar: Mr. Stepping, his friend, and Angel.
Additionally, I demonstrate the installation of the encoder and its effects alongside the actual machining sound, showcasing the remarkable difference it makes.
With the encoder installed, the motor's noise is virtually eliminated, allowing you to work with devices like 3D printers without being bothered by operational noise.
Furthermore, at the end of the video, there's a mention of a 5-axis CNC machine project and our future modifications.
I hope this video proves beneficial for those interested in CNC routers and 3D printers. If you're intrigued, please watch the video!

    Hi! Your video is very interesting as always. But this time I'm not ready to agree with you on everything :) I have the same CNC3110 machine. I tested its accuracy. I researched the phenomenon of "skipping steps" SD. I even tested it under a load of almost 100N and it showed acceptable accuracy. (There is a video on my channel). The problem of "skipping steps" is much less of a backlash problem in a trapezoidal drive. If this backlash is eliminated, the efficiency of this machine can be significantly improved.

  • @a-cnc-f

    @a-cnc-f

    11 ай бұрын

    The improvement of the backlash is addressed in the previous modification. This was a modification to increase the nut preload on each axis, for example. Increasing the preload increases resistance and increases the likelihood of step-out. The current modification is a modification to prevent step-out from occurring. To further improve backlash, I believe I need to make more mechanical improvements or use backlash compensation with LinuxCNC. I believe this modification would work for machining steel.

    @@a-cnc-f I agree with you that Increasing the preload increases resistance and increases the likelihood of step-out. But I went the other way: 1. Removed the spring. 2. Removed long screws. 3. Instead of screw holes, I cut out arched slots in paired nuts. 4. Mounted the slotted nuts against the fixed nuts. As a result, I was able to eliminate the backlash by turning one nut relative to the other. Links are not allowed in your comments. Maybe I'm not explaining clearly, but with an illustration, everything would become clear. :)

    It is not a problem of direction. It is true that changing the wiring also changes the direction, but this time, it did not work properly. That was mentioned in the manual.

    Nah this will not work. Stepper motors have higher accuracy than those encoders. Same thing happens with the encoders, they also shift because of gaussian error. Just increase the torque or decrease the speed. High accuracy encoders use optics tech like lasers etc. They measure in nanometer and costs 100k +dolars.

    This modification is an improvement to a problem when machining metal on a desktop CNC router. One of the major problems is the step-out of the stepper motor. This is a countermeasure to solve this problem. This machine is for hobby use. If you need real industrial level performance, you need to make all components industrial level, not just the motor.

    Does the motor not run completely after being turned on? If it runs a little but not properly, that could mean that the four wires leading to the motor are wrong. Another way to check is that one motor seems to work, so try replacing the encoder used in that motor with another encoder. If it does not work, the encoder is most likely the cause. It could also be a problem with the encoder settings. But if it is the default, it should be the same. Then use an oscilloscope to check the signals coming to the wires. A tester can also give you some idea.
