But the complete creative control was Vince and look what vince did to dean ambrose or jon moxley. Triple H learned the fundamentals of the business from vince but Triple H knows what sells and how to book. He is truly bringing it back. If vince was still in charge of creative he wouldnt be back.

He was a huge part of what happened. Even though Batista was rejected by the fans at the Rumble, Vince is infamously stubborn. As long as he had his plans, he was going to stick to them. It was going to be Batista-Orton as the main event, and Punk-Triple H as the No.2 match, with Daniel Bryan-Sheamus as No.6 or whatever. Punk leaving changed everything. With the fans already pissed, they would have torn the main event apart without Daniel Bryan there. Punk facilitated Bryan’s moment in a major way.

Let me tell you this, Cm Punk is too sensitive simple as that, wwe is "tough guy" persona business from hulk hogan to stone cold to the rock, it's about big bulky dudes coming in and wrestling and showing their strength and entertaining, kinda like strongman competition, so for someone like cm punk who gave out a loser vibe with piercings and tattoos and whinning and complaining and dont look tough, of course it will not go well with wwe, vince like muscle more than brains which is what the company was made for, big strong guys showing their strength, not some skinny fat dude complaining, poor cm punk ahould have just shut up and obey, instead he went the other way, and humiliate himself on ufc, wwe is the only place where cm punk can look tough, after his ufc debut i lose all respect for him.

Love or hate him but you can't help but to respect Punk for having the balls to stand up for himself in a company known to scare people into thinking they can lose their job or spot at the drop of a hat. CM Punk lit the fuse to a revolution in the pro wrestling industry and I'll always love him for it. Now when I look at wwe it's like seeing an old friend that you don't even recognize anymore. Sure wwe was what made me a pro wrestling fan in the first place but they also took that love I had for them and chucked it out the window. Now even when they do have their occasional interesting angles, I can't trust them to do the right thing. And more often than not I'm right about not trusting them to do the right thing. Glad Punk is back somewhere that clearly does appreciate him because the very first thing we all wanted to see was a promo between Punk and MJF and they gave us that with a proper build. Anyone that hates what Punk is doing now is obviously still suffering from the brainwash effects wwe drilled into many fans. The "flavor of the month" booking I call it. Every story always seems to HAVE to blow off at the PPV and then we're supposed to pretend everything got reset and that the past doesn't matter. That's why I find it entertaining when wrestlers bring up their past in wwe because we have NOT forgotten.

His tone here is exactly the same as the AEW Media Scrum. He gets frustrated during the combo of his injuries and creative not matching his wants.

What saddens me the most is that whenever Punk and Hunter wrestled their chemistry was fantastic. Their interactions during the Summer of Punk were always top draw. Obviously there’s a lot of resentment here, and from what we’ve witnessed from WWE it’s more than likely that Punk was the first in a long line of performers who fought back after being let down time and time again by poor booking, backstage politics and the embarrassing paranoia that Vince feeds into his locker rooms. If Hunters tenure for NXT says anything he knew all along how wrestling should be booked, and it’s a real shame that he didn’t have that drive when it came to Punk. I hope that if ever they interact again down the road it’s not to the detriment of either man, the way “wrestling” should be.

Just think about how many guys were over with the crowd in the 2010s Nexus, Alex Riley, Ryback, Damien Sandow, Cesaro and Bray Wyatt. All of them could have been Main Eventers. The fucked buried Nexus at Summerslam 2010. Alex Riley had the looks like John Cena and mabye thats why Cena never liked him i don't know. Ryback was buried the moment he lost to Mark Henry at WM 29. Cesaro was over asf with the Crowd but then they screwed him up with Heyman.

You can sorta predict, and it was confirmed by him or his peers later on. Punk and to an extent, his wife Aj is kinda like those emo couple heading to a separate table from the jock football kids like HHH with the homecoming queen in Stephanie with the other cheerleaders like Bella twins. WWE or vince specifically believe getting over means someone used his cheesy original idea, put a spin or edit it to make it their own and then getting a wild cheer e.g New Day and Becky Lynch, unlike Punk a ready made product who play by their own rules.

This speaks to everyone who is struggling whether physically or mentally or both in their workplace, that you deserve time off for all of that hard work you do for your job and that taking time off for your mental health isn't a bad thing at all. When you overwork your employees you end up with a bad product and CM Punk showing up in AEW proved that. He was getting millions of dollars in return for all of his time and effort, wasn’t he? Which is all that WWE technically owed him, not to mention is a whole lot more than most people get from their employers in exchange for dealing with BS… I have to pee in a cup fairly often for my job, if I have a problem with it I’m terminated, period. But what innocent reason could I, or anyone else have for having a problem with that? People tend to side against the “big evil corporation” automatically, especially when it involves a beloved icon like Punk, but I honestly didn’t hear anything from him that warranted sympathy. WWE is a unique type of company when it comes to sports entertainment as they have total control over deciding who to put over and how to best do that. Not like other professional sports where athletes must find success and popularity more organically. So, in exchange for all of his time and effort, the WWE also made him everything he is today. Plenty of talented guys work just as hard and for whatever reason don’t get that push. He got it all and has still never stopped complaining about whatever negativity he had to deal with in exchange.

This makes sense now i remember leaving for overseas visit, with cm punk super popular(2012) Came back middle of 2013 and wanted to see where punk was wow what a disappointment. He was midcard again not doing much other then looking like a someone there to lose big name wrestlers. Also he looked sick and that side burn beard thing made him look even more weirdly low tier like before he was popular. Its like they ruined his momentum and stopped his popularity relegating him to just being there to fill a slot.

When Punk had that 434 day title run I remember the for the whole reign Cena would always go on last and main event even though Punk was the longest reigning and most popular champ for years. WWE gave CM Punk the ball but didn't want him getting more over than their precious WWE lifer Cena. Sounds very toxic.

Punk should have main evented wrestlemania 2011 vs cena instead of miz and wrestlemania 2014 vs Bryan and orton instead of batista. This way Vince would have his dream matches of cena vs rock. Punk was already top guy in 2010-11 with nexus he should have main wvented in 2011.

Punk has been given almost complete control over his programs since his return in AEW, and so far they have been some of the best work in years. I can’t imagine how frustrating it must have been to know exactly what he was capable of and be constantly shackled and roadblocked in his prime. It’s honestly tragic.

He was relieved. He had thoughts on leaving and they sped the process up. He was able to recuperate and save his own life going to a good clinic to heal himself while the crap doctors WWe had could not do anything. And CM Punk could afford to quit, or be fired.

This has happened quite multiple times in wwe Vince is a great thinker he revolutionalised pro wrestling business and created one of the best characters in short larger than life characters But he always had that guy who was a great worker and was pushed decently and could have main evented wrestlemania but didn't do that be it health issues or booking issues or any other And there were and are those guys who doesn't matter what storyline they are in but end up main eventing mania be it hogan back in the day the austin and rock then golden boy cena frequently hunter and now reigns is just carrying on the tradition by already main eventing mania for like 5 times🤣🤣 that's actually pathetic though but they now have two days of mania so they can bragg about two main events But wwe always trusts on that one guy and for that guy other guy has to sacrifice We don't even need to go that far Dean Ambrose was hottest thing in pro wrestling back in 2015 and 16 he gave wwe the most match in 2015 and was giving some best matches against rollins and hhh And people wanted reigns vs ambrose at mania but what we got reigns vs hhh That is when i finally started to know that wwe had that bias-ness

I have no memory of the HHH and Reigns match. Must have been a stinker but I agree, Ambrose deserved the mania main event. I get Vince doesn't want to push everyone becuase then they could all leave to another company or hollywood but to depend on one guy seems like bad business. It took Punk leaving for them to realize Daniel Bryan was a good idea to main event 30. Nobody wants to see Batista and Orton wrestle for 30 mins! We've seen that a million times Vince!

Even though i despise current wwe and royal rumble made me feel soooo disappointed even though i had so much less expectations. But i will never pretend like vince has no contribution in this industry. What vince is doing today wcw used to do it back in the days. Wcw had undertaker, they gave him mean mark calaway Wcw had stone cold, it was stunning steve austin Wcw had hhh They had completely different characters in wcw and wwf and completely different careers as well Later on the likes of big show jericho eddie Guerrero chris Benoit left wcw and they had better career in wwf Vince used to be great back in the days Then there are pure wwe characters like rock orten cena lesnar batista There are not just 10 bruhh but numerous great characters which were either created under vince McMahon or groomed well under his company

To be fair you'd think they would know exactly who draws. They would have all of the stats and numbers. So if they felt he wasnt a huge draw there could have been something to that. We all know that Vince will always do business with people he knows will sell and doesnt hold grudges if it means making money. That makes me thing that maybe punk didnt draw as much as he thought he did.

i stopped watching in 2001 but then i got the network in 2016 and ive been watching every single raw . timeline wise im currently on summer 2015. im a big cm punk fan. product went to shit in 2010 but in 2011 cm punk reinvigorated my love for wrestling . they gave him the strap but never put him in that main event spotlight.

Hey how far does the wwe network span from?

if there's ever a wrestler from the WWE that can relate with Punk and had a similar experience, it's got to be Kairi Sane, think about it, she wasn't used right in the main roster, had a short NXT Women's title reign, and at the end of her run in WWE, kept getting hurt by Nia Jax (who is her Ryback) and ended up possibly dealing with a loss of passion at the end and wanted out, but differences in Kairi compared to Punk is she ended things on friendlier terms by moving back to Japan and having WWE's blessings and became a ambassador for them (but her contract expires soon and she is 100% on her way back to Stardom and i could see her getting a deal to allow her to return to wrestling in the US for another promotion like AEW). I think if Kairi ever worked in AEW, I'm sure she and Punk would be talking about how WWE never appreciated their talents.

To be honest around these years when punk was on the verge of leaving WWE wasn’t how it used to be. 2013-2015 was very questionable. It felt boring and bland.

They say there's two sides to every story. I would like to hear the other side of this. It's easy to tell a "big man" story where "I walked in there, told my boss what's WHAT, and as I left he was crying blah blah". Maybe Punk was hard to work with, thought he was a pre-madona and only deserved to wrestle the very best. Like how he said he didn't need to wrestle HHH, that HHH needed to wrestle him. Maybe Punk was really a punk. Idk, I'd just like to hear the other side of the story.

WWE has yet to surpass 2011- 14 years. Ive told myself unless the company is sold, the product is only going to get worse. In my opinion the last great Mania was 28 which was in 2012. 10 years ago bruh! Im not going to sit here and say AEW is this excellent company but it sure is nice to have something different with a more wrestling feel to it.

I have that Wrestlemania on DVD. Had, quite possibly, the greatest match in Wrestlemania history with the special referee Hell in a Cell match between Taker and Triple H with Shawn Michaels and another pretty damn good match between The Rock and John Cena

@@United-qx2sj they split it into two "brands". raw and smackdown. that made it too cringy for a lot of people and caused a huge decline. forced competitiveness because no other competing wrestling companies existed anymore. AEW can only be a good thing for WWE but it will take years

If no one can relate to what he’s saying, that’s very sad to see. We’ve all had jobs where upper management at one point or another has taken advantage of hard work and passion and used it up to the point where we felt like there’s nothing left. That’s all Punk is speaking about, before you go on to judge the guy about who he is and how big his ego is, perhaps you should listen to the full “The art of wrestling Ep 226” Punk isn’t trying to bitch and moan but just express his frustrations about a company that at the end of the day didn’t give a shit about him. To the ones who are calling him a cry baby and chump, just think about how you would feel if put into his shoes. Life’s not easy when your jobs literally killing you and your dream.

CM Punk vs AJ Styles would be a great Wrestlemania Main Event matchup!

I feel like this woke up triple h to realize shit needs to change in wwe. Notice after this whole thing wwe while triple h was on there was pushing newer stars. Im glad punk said this cause i truly think this is why nxt is so good today and why rollins and many others are main roster success.

He was in at a bad time, if he started with wwe a few years ago he'd be a top guy now like cena was. There were too many talents who held him back in his era such as hhh. I won't lie when punk debuted back in 06 I didn't see the big deal about him, physically average not a great look but the more he was exposed to the crowds you saw his gift was his in ring work, mic work and psychology, his brain. He's cut some.of the greatest promos in wrestling ever. Heyman knew he was destined for greatness, when no one else saw it just like with steve austin. Wwe is utter garbage now, watch though AEW will conquer wwe with him on top it will be a Steve Austin story in reverse.

Its amazing how relative CM Punk's frustration and comments about the WWE's corporate model and how it affects the wrestles is close in comparison to us who work normal jobs. I loved doing what I was doing and enjoyed working for my company and liked most of the guys I worked with. But when the "new" corporate culture took over and a yes man was hired as my supervisor, it became an absolute miserable place to work. They don't care about you as a person and try to take more and more money and benefits from you.

Phil is a very disillusioned man. He became the longest reigning champion of fake fighting and all of the sudden he thinks he is a legitimate bad ass and decides to fight in UFC. Got pummelled in 2 fights. That brought him back to reality real quick !!

It's funny how the two big matches leading up to the main event at that years WrestleMania we're gonna be the same as the previous but just switched opponents. With Punk, HHH, Brock, and Taker.

In 2024, CM Punk still told the truth, the Rock is gonna lose to Roman and go back to acting 2011 was CM Punk's year 2014 was Daniel Bryan's year and WWE listened to the fans 2023-2024 was Cody's year

I came back to visit this after hearing about the Mustafa Ali situation and the reports Finn Balor’s main event run is over. WWE takes people who love professional wrestling and destroys their passion. They ran off every wrestler who loved the art of wrestling and then let part timers like Brock and Ronda collect all the big money and main events.

No true, Ronda and Brock are both larger than life superstars who put over WWE talent. Ronda boosted Becky's stock after the WrestleMania match. Brock put over Rollins, Reigns, and McIntyre clean. These are all top guys.

I haven't followed wrestling since the reign of terror. More than him giving it to Vince, I'm glad Punk let it rip on triple h. That guy and michaels deserve so much shit for all that they did over the years.

It’s still crazy how the greatest pro wrestler on the planet today arguably was not planned to be in the main event of WM in his year. I believe people take certain things that CM Punk says out of context leading them to believe he is a “crybaby”. He really just seems jaded about the ass backwards decision making at the top level of WWE. We have seen it numerous times, too many to count at this point, piss poor decision making with no common sense. Whoever is making those decisions may understand some semblance of a “business model” (they want to draw money for the main event of WM by plugging in household names) but they do not understand wrestling. They do not understand that wrestling needs to evolve, the fan base needs to be able to perceive guys like Daniel Bryan (or anyone who has proved themselves to be able to perform at that level) as “main event guys”. And I’m not just talking about the main event of WM, you need more main event guys to carry the company throughout the year and challenge for the title and put asses in seats. Whoever is making these types of decisions simply doesn’t understand that.

I find it so ironic that Chris Jericho badmouthed punk saying that him being in the Main Event of Wrestlemania doesn’t matter, to then him saying that he was annoyed at Vince for not putting him and KO as the main event of Mania for the Universal Title; so much so that it led to Chris leaving WWE. I know they’re friends and both have ego’s based on how good they are, but it’s funny that Jericho left for the same reason Punk did.

Wrestling companies have toxic environments. You might be promised something but no matter what you do, someone else comes and steal spotlight at the last minute which happened to Jericho and Owens match after promising to be main event got shot down due to Goldberg return.

Danielson was on the committee that fired Punk from AEW no? Yet here Punk is defending his right to a Mania main event. This guy is gold. I was never a fan… but I have to be one now. He is a great talker and is just real. I hear myself in his monologues & dialogues. I am sure so many other people do too! So pumped I will get to see this last run of his unfold. Great times for a lapsed wrestling fan.

If it wasn't for Daniel Bryan the main event of Wrestlemania 30 would be one of the most disgusting, unwatched and forgotten ever, and they realized it before it was too late so they put and let Bryan win so made history, and they were right...unfortunately no realized that Cm Punk vs Daniel Bryan would be one of the most remebering and cheered of all times

Cm Punk thought that it would only take The Cheering crowd and a lot of Fans to get over and Deserve The Main Spots but He was never Willing to fulfill His Ways to it. So He doesn't actually have to wonder at All.

Not a CM Punk fan but he was right about Vince, HHH and WWE. He was only wrong about getting more over after leaving WWE. Really ruined his character by losing in MMA twice.

Nobody's denying the guts and determination it took for him to get in there and fight, but I think it's detrimental to his kayfabe character.
