This is by far the best clutch bag tutorial I've discovered. Easy, straight forward, neat, nothing difficult and explained in plain English, thank you. The 3/2 ratio method was such a great idea, I'll remember that for life. I added a couple extra things to make this exactly like I needed. I made my outer quilted panel with 6 different patterned fabrics ( 2 side by side for flap, front and back. I rounded the corners of the flap, added a magnet closer and boxed the bottom corners. I made this to use as my race day clutch to match my dress, its absolutely perfect. Thank you for your very valuable video.

Thank you so much for this. I had been racking my brain trying to figure out how to construct an envelope bag with lining with some of my handwoven fabric. This made it so simple!! Thank you again!

So clever and easy. Thank you for sharing. I'm making one with a fringed edge, so leaving the top of foldover open and turning there. I will hand stich the linig to the finished fringe edge.

Once again you scored high on this, love it. Couldn't help but laugh when you mentioned about losing things through the hole in a pocket. Took me back to when I was younger and we actually wore coats more (50's and 60's), how I would get a hole in my pocket lining and yes, we did lose things and they would land up down in the hem of the coat and you would have to fish them out lol . You are brilliant and I love watching your videos. Thanks and God Bless You ♥

Thank you so much for this tutorial 🙌🏾 I was trying to figure out how to make something like this vertically as a laptop sleeve and couldn't find a good explanation. Please may you make something similar with a pocket in front. My pocket ended up at the back 😂😂😅😅

Vinyl shouldn't be a problem. Just get some clips to use instead of pins to avoid permanently marking the vinyl. Alternatively, if you have to pin, pin in the seam allowance so the holes aren't seen, c x

Actually running over pins can cause an even bigger problem than breaking your needles! It can throw the timing off. Then it becomes an expensive repair (I paid $200 to get it fixed). Was told not to run over pins!

My domestic science teacher taught this too, about 40 years ago! Sometimes I do, but only if they're at a right angle to the stitching. If you really want to throw your timing off, try not cleaning out the bottom of your machine for 20 years (because it didn't even occur to you) and let the build up of lint jam the gears up! c x

Start with a rectangle, fold the fabric into three where you want the pouch and flap to be, then cut a slanted line from the base up to the flap and make the width of the flap a little narrower, c x

Fold your fabric, right sides out in layers as if you'd made the bag, remember to take off the seam allowance and pin one strip to the inner fabric, close to the top of the flap edge. Fold the flap back down and pin the other strip to the outer fabric on the front of the clutch where the first strip touches. Hope this helps? c x

You can also mess up the timing on your machine when you run over a pin and have to take it to the shop. Ask me how I know this. 😢
