Good video there. My wife and I just played with our 6 year old. He loved the game. One thing we were a little confused on was if we each control our own character or if we can move any character. Now, there is one more little thing I am still uncertain on. Say my son goes first. And he starts with the last character to get caught eating the cake as the rules describe. Now, I go next, do I have to move the character that is clockwise from the character my son moved or can I move any character that I choose to on my turn?!? Then my wife goes, can she then move any character she chooses? Or does she continue to go clockwise around the gameboard?!? At first I was thinking it would be clockwise in order, but the more I think about it, it makes more sense to be able to move any character at anytime.

    1. You move any character. 2. You can move anyone. Clockwise isn't a thing. I hope this helps!

Sounds like Hasbro actually did a brilliant job with this for the target audience! For me, I'd still prefer something that just has the deduction without any rolling or flashy board and brings the attention back to the players and the clues. But this definitely sounds like something I'd be happy to play with my nieces. Thanks for another great review!

Sounds like you may like Mysterium. Have you tried that one? It is a 'who done it" where everyone works together but without roll and move.

@@PurgeReviewsboardgames I have played Mysterium a couple of times. :-) I did enjoy it somewhat. It feels very different to me - being about empathy and understanding other people, rather than deduction in the way I normally think of it. Thanks for the suggestion. :-)

Yes, it is different. The closest I've seen is a game by Days of Wonder called Mystery Express. It is a tad more complicated though. Mystery of the Abbey is also good. These you might have to find used as they are out of print, but they may be what you are asking for (I think I did a video on Mystery Express).

I HATE when you play clue and one person gets a couple of one's and it really messes with their strategy. We usually houserule where you can either move to an adjacent room or just full blown can go where you want. The dice adds an very unnecessary luck aspect which clue does not need.

Seems they did improve upon the original game some w/ the dice rolls also allowing for investigation. Wish the roll & move could've been done away with, perhaps allowing for an average movement of 3 for each player as a house rule.

The dice rolls are a little more strategic about where you leave the characters. You have to watch what people need. The roll move isn't too bad as you can reach something with most rolls.

Question, how do you find out the room that they ate it in? That's on the score sheet as well

That’s not part of the mystery. The mystery is who, when, and what drink. Not where it happened. I think the pictures are on the detective sheet so you can mark off which pieces of furniture you have checked.

Yes, which room isn't something you are trying to figure out. Just the who, when and what. This is a tad different than regular Clue.

So instead of being about solving a murder, it's about solving who took a slice from the cake. Pretty ok change for the target audience.

Terrible video: 1. Start with the basics. I.e., where do the stickers go???

Umm, the video was not terrible at all, but your comment is!! How about YOU actually read the rules which are very short and quick and you will figure out where the stickers go!!! This isn’t a video on how to put stickers on pieces and where they go!!! This was a video on the start of a game and game flow!!
