"We are changing America and the world" ~Richie Rich. So fucking true it's breathtaking. You are looking at the creative geniuses who redefined pop culture up until this very day.

I just watched "Party Monster" (the movie about these folks) and I thought it was great. I miss occasionally seeing these people at the clubs. Now everyone looks the same. :-/

I love Craig's boss. Wow, that was absolutely fantastic that she had the heart to stand up for someone who works for her and praise him in front of all those people who are doing nothing but tearing him and his scene down! Way to go!

I totally agree... in fashion magazines, they were saying high-end designers were using "club kid inspired eye makeup" for their fashion shows this year. The look was very Brandy Wine :)

I love that James said almost nothing the whole show, but was the most fierce out there. He was beautiful!

@UnusualTastes I think it's his pre judging of what they do. "You wouldn't let me in the club!" Not even a question, he doesn't care to acknowledge any of the kids who do successful things. The lady mentions that the one kid works for her, and he brushes it off, and tries to get someone to say something dumb.

I hate it how old people feel the need to criticize the current youth's culture, just because they're being creative and seeing things in a different way.

@xilix I don't think anyone quite lives up to the legend in your head, but yeah, i did notice that MOST of them seemed pretty lit. They're just maintaining a little more than Kevin is all I meant. :) And I wasn't talking about him being nervous or a horrible speaker, he was great, in fact.

@veela77 Why all the hate towards Phil Donahue? I'm 21, an art student, pretty damn liberal, fully support gay rights (my brother is gay), and I highly respect Donahue. He always seems very fair and fair-minded. He is true to himself, his guests and his audience, unlike so so many tv personalities. You can't honestly infer that he's being homophobic from any of this? REALLY? Go watch the video of him tearing apart Bill O'riley in an interview- you may find you have a newfound respect for him.

both phil, the audience, and the club kids keep rehashing the same questions and answers over and over. i love the club kid culture but this episode of donahue is sloppy.

@veela77 I never got the notion that he hates gay people. Being gay myself I find such people like this quite a novelty. Being gay is quite natural like being left-handed, and does not requisite outlandish behaviour. Phil seems very fascinated in this phenomena, he is letting them speak, but it seems some of the guests appear to feel as if he is not. You can't satisfy everyone, and it does not follow that it is a sign of hatred if you do not.

@Discordia5 So is michael.. you don't see him sniffing and swallowing really hard? Kevin was just a horrible speaker, and was nervous. He could've been on coke too but didn't exhibit the same intense mannerisms that Michael was always one something. Always. He did more drugs than anyone in that group. He didn't just chase the dragon, he caught it's entire family and had them chained up in his basement. The guy had absolutely no fear of OD'ing at all.

i used to watch Phil back in the day, and he doesn't necessarily hate gay people and not let them talk. He treated everyone that way, he never let anyone talk. It's so funny how shocked and afraid all the "straight" people are, and by "straight" I mean typical, this show would be so boring now. Thank God people are a little more open minded now.

I thought the age to get into clubs in the US was 21? How are 16-18yr olds on this show getting in, and after admitting to going in at younger ages, why didn't the club get investigated and shut down?

It was much easier to get a fake ID back then. If you knew the right people, no one was checking IDs. This was before Mayor Guiliani took over and started shutting down clubs left and right. This was before Disney bought Times Square. It was the end of an era for sure.

Thing is this is billed as James St. James on Donahue. Michael was the leader and money maker of the whole lot. Without Alig this would have just been a terrible drag show. James was a hanger on and nothing more. Michael sure kept quiet during this whole melee - That wasn't like him.
