the sombrero "to show support" is def satire in order to clown white liberals who think they're super progressive while simultaneously pushing stereotypes etc I think that couple is actually fully satire through the entire thing

One of my favorite moments of this season is when it’s shown that ally didn’t vote for Hillary. Her reaction to trump winning makes so much sense because she essentially blames herself (people with her mindset) for what happened. That’s the only real part of the whole political side of the show that I liked. It really did restart all of her fears because it was coming from a place of shame and self doubt in her own mentality.

I liked it because it reveals that the reason her wife tries to make her experience mind death is that she voted for jill stein

this season is rlly just "this triggers her fear of (anything in earth)"

I didn't love this season, but the way panic attacks were represented was so beautiful and gripping, Sarah Paulson did a great job (in my opinion). Also all the small plot twists in this season were soooooo entertaining, and the big plot twists were even better.

Absolutely, even at the time, the joke is the character (which are really caricatures) not the jokes themselves.

I think these run throughs would be so much better if you added little screenshots of what your pointing at to the video so we can see. Other than that love the run throughs always.

I feel like this season gets so much hate for the political stuff, but the season isn’t about the politics itself, but about how the fear and uncertainty of America’s future led to the fanatical cult behavior. Yeah, political stuff naturally pops up, but that isn’t the point. I mean the main character is shown to have several phobias in addition to political fears and those fears are used to manipulate her into the cult and her overcoming those fears is what eventually frees her from the fanaticism everyone is involved with.

You forgot the most important thing in 11/9: kai’s sexcapade with Harrison gotta have the gay sex quota in AHS going forward ❤ Edit: I also love love love how Kai is like. Gay + Homophobic. Like. Slay. He does what he can to manipulate everybody. He’s such a good antagonist

My thing with Cult is that I had a mental breakdown in 2016 and I have a panic attack every time I watch it. It's a great season and I NEVER want to watch it again. This season DOES have the best death in the series. Ivy deserved it.

I’m so glad you’re doing this. I didn’t watch the season because the first 10 minutes triggered the fuck out of me (and honestly, I watch fiction to be taken out of the shitty world, not dive deeper into it), but I’ve always wanted to know what it was about.

I wasn't that entertained, but I didn't connect with or care about the majority of characters.

I love love LOVE Billie Lourde. Absolute queen. It’s a shame she’s a part of some of the worst seasons but at least she’s always a shining light.

I will say this was a season of AHS that really made me believe Ryan Murphy just liked adding traumatizing violence and sex in his art.... The plot ran thin. The violence and sex are heavy.

Me too… despite the cringe election stuff it’s definitely one of the most rewatchable!

What I appreciated the most about this season is that the storytelling was simple for the most part, yet so entertaining. Ally’s character near the end had developed a HUGE arc. With the way “Delicate” dragged out Anna’s visions, you would think Ally would be terrorized by clowns and phobias for nine episodes. Instead she turns into an antihero, conquering her phobias and the cult, and I was rooting for her the whole time !

Cult was one of the only ahs seasons where I was like in shock about certain things happening

to me, one of the best things to come out from this season was the beginning/consolidation os the billie lourd/leslie grossman "era". i LOVE these actresses so much in every character that they play on ahs

I started watching this season with friends in college when it was airing and we got like 3 weeks in before giving up on it bc the election plot was just too much 😭 so thanks for recapping so I can finally watch it now lol!

Wearing sombreros wasn't bad taste on Ryans behalf, he did that on purpose to show the irony with yt liberals preaching about racism, it was a commentary about real life

This season really helped me process the 2016 election. It made me realize how powerful of a tool fear is and if you can tap into that, you can get people to do almost anything including compromising their moral code.

The funniest thing from this season is giving the everything-phobic incel the name Kai and long bright blue hair. That… THAT is a power move. But then again it could be theorized the character is bisexual but, eeeeeh still funny.

It's so funny that you have plenty of space behind you but you refuse to use it and instead you crumped everything together haha As a Non‐northamerican it's a really difficult season to rewatch because it reflects the political moments from that era, which is foreigner to any person who isn't living there. To me the highlight of cult is Leslie Grossman. Definitely one of the best additions to AHS because, as you mentioned Angela Bassett is always over the top with high energy and I think that Leslie is as over the top as her

Cult when it was airing kept reminding me why I don't watch AHS with my parents, but I was able to get over the sexual nonsense of Hotel with my parents so maybe it's not that bad. Anyway if there's anything I rewatch over and over from this season it's the spaghetti moment.

Love the message and humor of this season. One of the few seasons where they're sure how it ends. Interestingly I think in terms of humor Cult is the closest to Scream Queens out of all AHS seasons! 😅

i remember watching this weekly my first semester of college with a bunch of people in my dorm! but then i got really sick and hospitalized and i stopped watching and never finished it 💀

After I re-watched this season in 2024, I was able to appreciate it more. This was Evan Peter’s climax performance in the AHS anthology. Watching this in 2017 was so uncomfortable. We didn’t know where the country was heading and the horrors relating to political supporters were very real.
