She got a small fine, that is all. And the perpretrators will of course not go free, even though the article make it appear so by writing “SHE” in all-caps. Pepper spray is illegal in Denmark. As with any weapon, if they were legal, they might be used to subdue a victim just as well. You could say it is a bit harsh even to give her a fine, and I might agree with that, but the angle of the story (and by the comments also how it is perceived) that the bad guys go free while she is “prosecuted” is ridiculous.

You never know these days, went on a blind date with a woman my age (we were both 45 years-old) and she had hardly any teeth, was covered in wrinkles, and clearly let herself go. I know of one case where a man was charged for using a snow brush to fend off an attack while he was in his car. Since it was summer the judge deemed he was keeping it in the car for self defense purposes.
