Ойын-сауық

This is a review of a Byzer katana. (Now Cloudhammer Steelworks)
The full review can be found here - • Cloudhammer Steelworks...
You can see info about their products here - www.byzer.net/nd.jsp?id=9
The facebook site also works - profile.php?...
The site needs a bit of work but it should get you to some contact information. This sword was sent to me for review.
Notes:
Took the most punishment of any sword I have tested (with my current methods) so far.
The ito is made of a leather material I am not familiar with but feels comfortable. It was also tight (mostly) and stayed that way for the duration of my usage and testing. The sword was a comfortable tool for iaido as well though I would not say the fit and finish was anything special.
The sword held up very well to abuse, edge retention was OK, better than some through hardened blades but not as good as some other differentially hardened blades. That said, it took more shock and abuse to destroy the blade than any sword I have broken using my current method. The only one that stands out in my mind as similar is the ronin dojo pro, but it has been many years since I have tested one and I am more efficient at braking them now. As it is, this takes a special level of abuse to break and is at the top of the game in durability for a $500ish sword. The sword is stated to be made of S7 steel, which can be made to withstand a lot of punishment. I can never tell what something is made from but this sword held up better than others have.

Definitely like the longer version. But is very courteous of you to shorten it up a bit for the attention deficit crowd

I get a lot of feedback about being longwinded. Every now and then, I try to make a shorter version.

@@Matthew_Jensen Do you find you get more total views if you have both an in-depth review and a short review as opposed to just one review (short or long)?

No, one tends to catabolize the other in terms of views. Some folks find it more helpful though, so I think it is worth doing sometimes. It is a bit more work and tends to lower views especially if I release them at the same time. If I were smart, doing shorter content for Istagram or ticktock would be better.

I like the short version, the only thing I feel is missing is perhaps one or two slo mo close up profile views from top to bottom and back again maybe, just to show a few angles on all the fittings.

Having a sander sharpen a Katanas edge might heat the steel blade too much that it makes a cutting blade brittle to a point. May I suggest a 20 hour polish, the sword might come useful with a resilient ha.

I don't think the blade is getting hot enough when I sharpen the sword to impact it much. It could, but I would really have to lean into it. The blade is hotter being in the sun than it is from a few passes with my sander.

at 5:20 you speak of a sword that’s laminated with a bohi etc. Who makes the sword? or if you have a link to the review of it that would be great. I thoroughly enjoy these videos. You are a blessing as iam very new to the world of swords. 🙏

Your thoughts on someone or somewhere that offers trustworthy work in Florida? Like re wrapping tsuka’s and ray skin, re fitting new tsuba’s and fuchi kashira’s? Wanting to get some work done but just can’t seem to find any good sources that don’t cost a fortune. Thanks!

JOKE: NOPE! I've decided to buck the trend and not look for a good durable sword! I want to buy a really crummy, overpriced sword that breaks after just a few minutes! This is largely due to your review of the ultimate sword Anathar!
