MAJOR FFVII: REBIRTH SPOILERS
First of many to come Rebirth edits, of course I had to edit/analyze Cloud first. He really goes through it in this game- getting possessed and driven to aggression and violence more and more as the game goes on, but as people talk about the game and about Cloud, I see a lot of people forgetting one major thing: Cloud is a victim. He's being controlled and manipulated by Sephiroth to do and say things he'd never do and say. Sephiroth uses fear, doubt, pain, and of course, jenova cells to break down Cloud's mentality, all while Cloud is under the impression that his mind is breaking due to "cellular degradation", (which is false) but leads Cloud to spiral into even more doubt and fear.
All this is what I wanted to capture in this edit, which I put to one of my favorite songs, SYML's "The War". I've been planning to edit Cloud to this song for over a year, because I think the lyrics really describe Cloud perfectly- a man who's "war" is over but still continues to struggle and suffer. A "mad boy".

This is such a great analysis and storytelling of Cloud gradually declining mentally, highlighting Cloud's story and development in FF7 Rebirth. They've done such a good job with Cloud in this game, with the way they show his struggle, his uncertainty, his vulnerability, the layers of his shell shattering bit by bit.. Truly a piece of art. Watching this have me excited for what's next in the story, especially with how Cloud is going to deal with the truth of everything. With the way they're building it up in Rebirth, I have no doubts that its gonna be absolutely heartbreaking. Final Fantasy games are fantastic, but the remake trilogy takes this to the next level retelling a story that's already a masterpiece. I can't wait for the conclusion of this journey.
Your edits always inspire me so much and inspire so much dialogue in my head. You capture Cloud's fear and anguish in such a heart wrenching narrative, following his mental decline... Your talent for storytelling shines in these kinds of edits, matching up dialogue and scenes to show us just how much Cloud is suffering. It is EVERYTHING to me, and ending on the scene of him falling to his knees after showing scene after scene of him being manipulated to harm and help Sephiroth? A masterpiece. I adore exploring Cloud's mental state and this is EVERYTHING. Amazing, absolutely amazing
God, this is exactly what I was looking for after finishing Rebirth. Thank you SO much for this masterpiece.

What a good edit, I was not expecting to get choked up 😭 It just shows so well the instability of Cloud and all of the foreshadowing we encounter along the way. Pt.3 is going to be heart shattering

I would love to see a Yuffie edit too! I feel just bc her character looks so happy go lucky people forget she is just a girl who went through a lot! (but I guess we don't have many content for yuffie now, hopefully in the third part)
