Cloud Compare - Global Shift

Ғылым және технология

Global Shifting is a process that Cloud Compare uses when you upload a 3D point cloud where points' coordinates are big numbers (cartographic projections).
Shifting the cloud allows the software to better deal with it in all the computational activities that it will do.
Orignal coordinates aren't lost.
They'll be back once you'll export the results.

Very good video thanks. I am trying to get two different point clouds to show up in the same space and have one that has real-world coordinates and one that doesn't. Your explanation has helped me get a bit closer to getting to a point where I can align them. Well done, hope to see more.

Wouldn`t you save the same amount of time if you also clip the decimal places? Like in your cloud you have 7 digits. I dare to say for this specific project 2 decimal places instead of 7 (1cm accuracy) would be quite enough. So you save 15 digits in total for xyz...
