You're totally right, since he said it himself lately that he was told about Yuri, so in the end he was honoured by it & decided to watch the anime, becoming a great supporter too, because he felt that the cartoon mirrored well what happens behind the scene of figure skating; (he said that he usually doesn't have time to follow tv series or such, but was so glad he gave YOI a chance
