I still think there's too much negativity about this match. It was pretty incredible to get back into the game like that. Never seen the ABs so dominated.

The fact they didnt go for the win, in a game that ultimately meant nothing, was simply a diservice to the fans, and the players themselves, who had fought so hard to get the result. Just go for it lads, at that point if you'd still lost we would have all known you had earned the draw and simply wanted to entertain. Its such a shame because a draw was a good result given the circumstances, but a win would have been one of the most historic comebacks in English Rugby.

I think they would have if it was on. England had a lot of men in the middle - their backs were outnumbered on the far right and Smith only had a few forwards, most of them having played all game on the left. I think the only viable option was kick, or give away the ball / pen. Potentially kick deep and see if NZ wanted to win it? But that also feels pretty negative too. Being the worse team for 60 minutes and getting a draw against such a top team felt like a win to me in the stands

@@marksmith4518the ref was also quite penalty happy that day so they were probably afraid to give it away at the death after getting back in, would have been nice to see them try something different though

@@tiaan8551 yeah I reckon that and a poor performance against Argentina if memory serves me right, was when the rfu made the decision. But this was one of eddies last matches, so there was some surprise when it was announced. 13-27 against the Boks wasn’t as humiliating as losing against the argentine. Also having just won a tour against australia, should’ve sacked him after 6N imo not less than a year before the rwc

​@joshuakrahe4017 the scoreline against South Africa wasn't bad but the manner of how we lost. We were never in the game and the crowd completely turned on the England team. It was 100% that game that lost Eddie his job eventually.
