Clippering a clean face with a clean coat

Clipping a clean face on a clean coat. I generally clip their faces before the bath but on this day, that didn’t happen. There is a difference in clipping hair before the bath and after the bath. There are also pro’s and con’s.
Pro on clipping before the bath: you don’t have to dry the area; helps with rinsing with less hair to rinse.
Con on clipping before the bath: clipping a dirty coat will make your blades dull quicker; The oils in their skin makes the hair lay down in different directions and your clipper work may not be as even; may cause irritation as you try to manipulate the skin to get a clean cut.
Pro on clipping after the bath: blades will stay sharper; easier to get a better finish; less irritation because the blade cuts through the clean hair better.
Con on clipping after bath: Will take a little longer to dry the face using the force dryer without the nozzle; Will have to make sure to rinse well when shampooing as residue from the shampoo can irritate skin; most dogs don’t like the dryer around their head.
I honestly prefer to clip after the bath but some dogs don’t tolerate it, in that case clipping before the bath is essential.
I also wanted to clarify, when I stated I use the force dryer on his face it was used without the nozzle to dry his face, I will also use a stand dryer and soft slicker brush to help dry it as well.
Happy poodle grooming!

I’ve had a standard poodle for close to a year now and I cannot believe how fast their hair grows. I’m grooming my dog myself and your channel is really helping me learn the process. Thanks 👍🏻
