Clip Studio Paint Tutorial: The Basics for Beginners
This is a tutorial going over the basics of Clip Studio Paint for beginners. I also show my painting process with a little speedpaint.
This program can be a little intimidating when you're just getting into it, so I hope this tutorial helps with getting started! You can get the free trial or buy CSP here: www.clipstudio.net/en/
I'm using the pro version in the video (so the more affordable version)

i’m new in digital art and i’m SO lost but this tutorial was perfect!! thank you so much for this🥺
As an Illustrator who struggle with program changes, this tutorial is gold. Seriously, thank you so much for this amazing video. This is so calm and nice, you made me give a try to Clip Studio. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. PS: I hate lineart in digital art too...I never feel satistied with the results
You are the light at the end of a dark murky cave, oh my god learning how to do digital art on my own was so difficult but you were there to guide me. Now I shall use these shortcuts and tips to make my journey a little easier😭😭 Thank you so much and beautiful drawing😁🙏🙏
YES, just bought the csp pro, will transfer from time to time from sai THANK YOU FOR THIS VIIID UWUUWU

I'm in the same situation as you ;w; i always used sai bc it was easier for me, and by doing that i never noticed how restricting that program could be now i started using cspro in my tablet (that i bought to study and draw) lets see how it goes

I'VE BEEN USING CLIP STUDIO PAINT FOR 9 FUCKING Y E A R S AND I NEVER KNEW YOU COULD ADD MORE MANIPULATION POINTS TO A MESH TRANSFORMATION GRID. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH YOU'VE CHANGED MY LIFE, BRO
This was a beautifully comprehensive tutorial. Really everything I needed to make the transition to clip studio.
This tutorial is literally the greatest one I've ever watched, so helpful! Thank you Sunako ♥
I've been searching for a tutorial that explains the buttons and controls of csp, and this is so helpful and easy to understand! Thank you so much
I've been using csp for like a year now, and this is the most helpful tutorial for it I have ever seen. I seriously didn't know almost anything, and I thought I was doing pretty good all by myself! The art came out beautiful, too :)
Usually I find tutorial videos incredibly boring and I end up trying to figure stuff out by myself. But you have such a gentle voice and just go straight to the point that I actually followed the tutorial closely! I really loved that you bookmarked the video so we could go back and rewatch specfic parts that needed refreshing! Thank you so much!
Thank you sooooo much :') I've finally found someone who is willing to spare some of his free and precious time to share this valuable intel with us newbies.. Thank you..
i’ve been using csp for a few months but wow did i learn a lot from this!! it’s such a helpful guide, i’ll definitely be watching this again in the future!
Wow! I'm a new fan! This video is like on a whole new level than any other tutorials for CSP I've ever seen! It's so in-depth that I couldn't find a word to describe it. My eyes and ears are melting in joy watching this. lol I'm glad I found you and this video! Hope you'll have more videos to come since I've noticed that you rarely upload one. I'll try to find you on other platforms that you may be active to so that I can follow you there as well. Keep it up!
This was really helpful! I'm a total newbie, so I love how detailed and patient you were.
Exactly what I needed to watch. Making the jump to digital art was so daunting for me, but you have made it so much easier. Thank you!!
not only you helped me to understand the interface and personalize it to my own needs, but you also made me realize i don't have to do lineart. i always had problems with digital, because i never wanted to do the lineart - it would take so much time and it would still look like a sketch. and i never even tried doing art this way, just based on a sketch! i just started working on a new, experimental piece and i'm already loving the process! thank you so much for opening my eyes to lineart-less digital art! much appreciated!
I love this kind of content, I hear you while i'm drawing, it is great XD new sub
Thank you so much sunako-san! I'm glad that I found your channel Your style looks so cute and fresh I'm looking forward to the full speed paint video 🙏
I just wanted to say you are amazing. Your tutorial helped me set my Clip Studio up exactly how I needed it, and made it way less intimidating than it originally was. THANK YOU!!!!
I've been using CSP on and off the past few months but because I've been used to draw in Photoshop I've never really gotten into CSP until now. This tutorial was really insightful, I definitely learned a few new things watching this. Thank you so much for sharing your tips and tricks!
Man, this was the greatest tutorial and I've ever watched learned so much, probably will be rewatching this 100 times while I try to use everything in practice.
Even though I don’t have Clip Paint Studio your art in the thumbnail caught my eye, and since I’ve been struggling with painting digitally I decided to watch this to learn your process (since I really liked the style). This video actually motivated me to draw (which is great since I’ve been having art block), so thank you for this tutorial! 💖
Just wow! One of the best tutorials ever been made. This helped me a lot to get started with the program. Thanks so much!
I'm not even 9 minuets in and this is already the most helpful tutorial BY FAR. Thank you so so so much for posting this!!!!
this is such a good video!! it’s super clear and handy and i learned more than a few new things even though i’ve been using csp for about a year or two now. watching your painting process was cool too!
I been rewatching this tuto a few times and I would love to ask you if it’s possible to see a more detailed painting and lineart tutos in the future. About the painting one, it would be amazing to see how to make color bending look smooth and beautiful and where do you recommend to use hard brushes or airbrushes. I’m practicing with cell shading atm but when I try to bend colors my drawings look just horrible :’) In the lineart tuto would be interesting to see how to line-weight lines (not tecnically, I mean the artistic way). I know is not your actual style but I love the way you did it! I know I’m asking for a lot but just take it as suggestions! I don’t want to be impolite and “just request more”. I know this take a looot of time to do and I really appreciate that you did this one yet. Anyway, thank you so much for everything and awesome piece and video. Sorry for commenting several times :’)

I'll think about it! Mostly it's having enough experience to have a feel for what's a good balance of shapes (clear large/medium/small areas) and hard/soft edges. Keep at it!

I'm new to Clip studio paint and you explain everything so clearly that I don't get lost among tons of new useful features. Thank you very much!! Love your drawing and your voice, too!!
I am new to Digital Art and haven't drawn much of anything in almost 2 decades. I got Clip Studio Art as a free trial with the WACOM PAD for Xmas. And I just want to say that I find your tutorial very easy to follow and understand. And you make it look easy, even the more advanced features. While I know I need to slowly get used to the program, you can rest assured, I will come back and reference your video for help. Thank you for making this video. Stay safe and happy! And beautiful Elf at the end.
Spectacular tutorial. Thank you very much for all the useful information, plus the Timelapse was really awesome! Love your style.
For years I've been struggling to know what is mask layer(didn't really deeply researched it) but you just easily explained it. You're a life saver. The way you explained everything makes it so easy to understand
By far the best CSP Tutorial I’ve found since yet. Thank you.
This is such a simple perfect tutorial, I am so keen to try this style. I'm so surrounded by lineart that it's constricting my abilities I know I could have. Thank you for wonderful video!
This is the most comprehensive beginner tutorial for CSP. I learn a lot from your video that I can't find in bunch of others youtube videos. Tips, trick even the small thing means a lot to me. Thanks again. Wish you all the best and God blesses every step in your life.
Your voice is very calming and your tutorials are very helpful! I would love to see more tutorials in the future!
omg i learned so much about settings in CSP, thank you
I just found this video from your Twitter account and it was so helpful! I love how you actually teach how to use tools with detail. As for suggestions, maybe a colouring tutorial next? That's my favourite part about your art! Continue the good job 💕
Thank you so much for your in-depth explanations! I just bought CSP and this was the first tutorial I watched.
I love this process. Ive always struggled with line art, between fighting between light dainty lines or bold lines with various weight, and then losing the “life” from the sketch after adding line art, then trying to color around it- this seems like it would feel a bit more natural and help retain the life of the sketch. Thanks for sharing!
Love it :3 even the voice over was clear and consistent. Could you do skin color or hair tutorial next?

ive been using this program for over a year but i still dont know many things. out of all the tutorials i have watched, this helped me the most and on top of that ive always wondered how people do that lineless art! thank you so much for this tutorial!!!
I have just begun to use CSP. Began by watching your video and applying accordingly. I really loved the way you have explained all the points. And most of all - I loved your painting a lot - its really beautiful! Josh

Your video is awesome! Everything is super clear, your drawing is very pretty and your voice is very pleasant to listen. I am looking forward to trying these advices!
thanks a lot for this tutorial, as a beginner, this video was truely helpful to figured out all the features i've never paid attention before! also your drawing is so gracious!
this was the only tutorial that helped me. you are an absolute angel. thank you so much for this. and your art is so pretty!!!! i love it. this was my motivation to invest in csp. again, thank you. i will recommend this video to anyone i can :3
Allow me to subscribe here... I literally saw your art and fell in love with your paintings as someone's who's rubbish at it so seeing you here explaining how you go through it is honestly a great blessing. Please never stop making beautiful art, (this sounds cliche) but it really really inspires me and many others. All the best from here on and I look forward to more stuff from you. Thank you
Wow!!! I really love the explanation!!! Super helpful, this is what I need!! Thank you!
I wanted to get a bit more used to clip studio so I decided to click a random tutorial and have it on in the background. I ended up stopping what I was doing to watch and pay attention because this was so helpful, so informative and so beautiful! Thank you so much for this video, I'm for sure gonna save this to refer back to 💚
The gods of art have blessed us!
Nice! I’ve also fallen in love with this program 😊💙
I'm diving into CSpaint after buying it an entire year ago, and this tutorial is so frigging wonderful, thank you. No shade to other artists making videos on here, but yeah its been frustrating to find resources that don't go too fast/ terrible audio editing, and don't break down where tools are. So Thank you thank you THANK YOU for this!
Woah thank you so much, I have been trying to learn this type of painting/coloring style but I couldn't wrap my head around as to how I should use my sketch. Thank you so much for the tutorial it was very useful in general for the tools and preferences you gave a lot of great information 💓
Thank you so much this video is amazing, I love how u actaully explained ur process, I actually learned a lot from it, I would definitely be interested in watching more of these videos in the future! ur art is amazing ♡♡♡
i love the way it turned out. :D the drawing without lineart looks so much better and softer!
this was so useful! I had no idea clip studio had adjustment layers! Thank you for all the work you put into this!
I just wanna say thank you, this was one of the best tutorials I've watched so far, I still need to undestand how to draw but thanks to you now at least I know how to use some of the tools
You saved my entire life. I love you, your vp¿oice and your art sm. Tysm!!
I appreciate you explaining how you transition from sketch to cleanup, I've only ever used lineart-based methods and I've really struggled with that step when attempting a more painterly style. A lot of tutorials I've seen gloss over how they blend the sketch in before polishing.
I love your drawing style a lot! it really fits my preference! thank you for the tutorial it was really helpful :3
This has been a great inspiration. Thanks and I hope to see more videos by you in the future o/
best tutorial yet nobody else explained their process at all on other videos thank you so soo much and great drawing!!
