Clip & Carry BitLockr - amzn.to/3YSdhNX

Can't imagine you'd get a lot of torque with it, but I like the concept. Having a slip on cover would mean you could just throw the bit set into any old pocket or bag without having to worry about bits slipping out. The fact it's also a driver is just kind of a bonus really. For me, the Clip N Carry + the bit set by itself could be an EDC.

Lol, what do you mean you don't think you would get a lot of torque with it? You'll get more torque out of it than you would a standard screwdriver handle.
@Tallguy173rd Жыл бұрын
For me, I'd say I wouldn't carry it as I simply don't have a need that isn't already being answered. I do think it is interesting though. Assuming it is actually solid and won't break or fall apart easily with use, it might be an interesting option for some people to have a bunch of drivers on hand in an extremely small package that would easily fit in a pocket. I don't see any reason you couldn't use one of the bit extenders in the slot, if someone wanted to. I also am thinking that it does hold both sleeves. There are a couple moments that if you pause and/or pay close attention, that you can see both sleeves.

looks pretty heavy, and no less unwieldy of a handle for the bits.

Cool idea. Maybe more practical for a smaller tool bag for emergencies or in the car since the bit sleeves have a large variety of bits, paired with a bit extension. But for EDC I’d just keep the bit sleeves in my sheath with my Leatherman.

I’d love to see you review that. I work in a job where I’m not allowed to carry a blade so I’m constantly looking for ways to get edc functionality without a standard multi tool. If that tool performs I’d totally buy it.

I carry a RAEGear quick release holster that holds two bit kits which I've connected with a MountainMan Bit Kit Connector from Etsy. Along a similar line but slimmer and more EDC friendly than this setup.

Love the idea but it is waaaay too bulky. The primary draw for the Leatherman bit kit is being thin and tiny. The half-width bits have substantial drawbacks with being soft and not getting full purchase on a screw head and more easily stripping screws but that's a compromise worth taking (for some tasks) because they're sooo easy to carry compared to full bits. The width of this enclosure breaks the value of that compromise. If you're going to carry that heft and bulk then just carry a small but regular screwdriver.

Agree! There are lots of other brands using standard bits packaged with a driver, sometimes even a ratchet. For example look at Silca or Topeak Ratchet Rocket Lite.

A little off topic, but then again maybe not… your wish that the micro driver could be moved to the bit set has been granted! I bought a fantastic 3D printed micro driver holder that fits in the bit sleeve and locks into the bit holder like any other bit. Very inexpensive and picked it up from a guy named Kristen VanPatten on Etsy.

Hey there, found your channel in doing a Leatherman history lookup. I can speak on behalf of this Surge and the bits. They fit into the pouch that the one model of the Surge comes with. Not sure if it comes with all models. Just wanted to put that out there. Thanks!

Any Leatherman product that makes their Leatherman more useless will not be favored. Lol. I see many other companies offering full quarter inch bits in the same compact form w/ multiple recessed driver slots for different grips. Screwdrivers w/out slim extensions & narrow grip options are pretty limited. For ten bucks I bought a percission bit kit to complement my Leatherman driver. Two extensions, one flexible, one slim& solid, quarter inch to eighth inch converter &a few bits. Not sure how the# 2 Phillips will perform but they're super compact.

MAXLVEDC also mentioned this item yesterday on his channel, it seems somewhat functional but bulky. When you plug a bit on the magnetic slot it seems like short-reach-square-handled driver. As a carrying option it might be functional but it's a little bir on the pricy side for a, say, "bit case". (It can take two sleeves at the same time back to back oriented with a cumbersome effort BTW).

I noticed you didn't manage to show how the hell you get the 2 bit kits to fit into the bitlockr. Instead we just got a few seconds of a ridiculous ad. Everything says you "merely" unscrew the bottom part and fit them into the slots. But the slots are too small to fit both. I'll have to keep searching for answers.

Needs to be long and slender like a screw driver or have an extension that does so. I have an extension already, but I didn’t see any way to store it. That base is too wide for most applications.
@jaredp1776 Жыл бұрын
Definitely a good idea, but I just carry the bits in my leatherman pouch to use with my surge for day to day use, otherwise if I need a driver for a dedicated task I just use the driver I need. The way I see it is, a multitool should be able to handle daily common tasks and help with specialized jobs, but shouldn’t be a replacement for tools specifically made for that job.

Interesting, but I’m going to pass on this one. Doesn’t even have a clip to carry it. RAE Gear makes a holder that clips to your belt and also holds the ratcheting bit driver for about the same price - plus the RAE is Made in 🇺🇸.

Looks cool, but don’t see the point. No belt clip for one. Also the bit holder looks plastic, so no torquing with that sucker. Also, did you say $170 for the Surge now?! I think I paid somewhere between $110-$120 for mine. That’s crazy.

Don’t think so. The bits are already in my nylon sheath with my MT. I see no advantage to having 2 things to carry instead. Having a driver bit connected to a box like this will also severely limit where you can use this. Pass.

This thing again. Saw this on a short the other day, looks absolutely awfull. Heard it creaking allready... The shape looks like it was designed to be as unpleasant as possible to use whilst still technically usable. The material looks like it is designed to hold a shape in the box, but not outside of it. Construction seems to follow that principle. The bits it uses are the first argument I give against buying a leatherman. The cartridges barely fit in the holder. There's no reason to prefer this over just a regular screwdriver, (holy hell, especially bot now you told me the price), or one with a bit exchanger and spare bits in the handle. Hell, you can still use leatherman bits if you are that gung ho for a brand that is mostly surviving on brand recognition and upselling cheap accessories. Only downside then is you aren't advertising their brand
